  1. effing computer took a dump on me. Tip to everyone.... Don't stream 14 episodes of Stargate Atlantis to your computer over the course of several days without ever clearing the cache. Took me 25 minutes just to run a sweep with CCleaner. Ok, I'm going to start making the post now. It will be a primitive post, but it's quicker for me this way.
  2. You must really like Ninjak #1. PM me your info.
  3. I suggest you all stick around. I expect my offer to be taken within seconds of posting it.
  4. I knew that comment was coming. Just didn't know who would say it first.
  5. This dude is either in a hospital, jail, or dead. Nobody just stops answering messages/shipping out orders when you had a fine FB record, unless something happened to him. One of those buyers could easily use the seller's personal info to look up any news to see what happened to the seller. Start at the timeframe of the first negative.
  6. That's what surprised me when someone pointed this out with the launch of ASM 2, as I had never heard this before. Disney Acquires Sony's Merchandising Participation For The Amazing Spider-Man Sony got itself in a financial bind, and needed the cash fast. Enter - DISNEY! Disney got the better end of this deal. From what I read, Sony gets a larger return of the Spider-Man movie money and Disney gets the merchandise money. Since the movies are costing more and the returns are dropping, Disney saw more potential with the merchandise money than the movie money. That's what I was thinking. Kids will buy Spider-Man toys from Disney whether a movie succeeds or not. Disney made out like a bandit due to Sony's poor financials. Oddly enough, isn't that why Marvel has all these movie rights issues in the first place is how they had to sell off such rights to deal with bankruptcy? Reading that summary from Iger is interesting. He must have wanted to scream out 'INSTANT MONEY' with this news. Then in July, Sony Pictures will release The Amazing Spiderman. We're excited about the film and expect it will drive significant benefits for Spiderman consumer products. To that end, we recently completed a transaction with Sony Pictures to simplify our relationship. And then in the deal, we purchased Sony Pictures' participation in Spiderman merchandising, while at the same time, Sony Pictures purchased from us our participation in Spiderman films. This transaction will allow us to control and fully benefit from all Spiderman merchandising activity, while Sony will continue to produce and distribute Spiderman films. We won't be specific about the economics of this 2-way transaction, but we expect it will drive attractive returns for Disney. All those birthday party kits, Halloween costumes, bed sheets, toys, branded radios/clocks/lamps, etc. - all Disney. And no movie budget risk for them. This Disney you speak of sounds like they got it goin' on! Not always. I'm thinking pre-Little Mermaid in the eighties. I'm also talking financially (not creatively). I think they were surviving on their live action movie division at Touchstone (maybe Hollywood Pictures too). Even Disney's live action TV movies I-Man and Mr. Boogedy. Disney of the eighties is now... Disney/Pixar/Marvel/Star Wars/soon to be announced yet another? You've come a long way, baby!
  7. I get somewhat of what you are saying. I was Spidey (age 3) for Halloween in '78. But, they do make excellent funnybook children's movies that can grow up with you, Superman: The Movie, The Incredibles... I hear ya. But those movies are the first of the franchise. Did not the Superman movies get overly cheesy as they went on? Did not the Batman franchise? I love the first two Superman movies with Reeve. The first two Batman movies with Keaton. The first two Spider-Man movies with Tobey. Hmmmm. I'm sensing a pattern here. After the first movie or two, it seems every franchise turns to cheese for the easy $$. Look at IM3 and TDKR and Spidey 3, Superman 3, even Godfather 3 Like I said, if you don't have kids to take, don't go. They are not for you. Sony should completely run this into the ground after another 3-4 films. This is Spidey after all, and garners the most interest among children than any other superhero.
  8. You nailed it. These movies are for those toddlers dressed up as Spider-Man, knocking on your door on Halloween. They have a great time watching these movies. I feel sorry for the sad souls that wish to deprive them of this joy. If you don't have kids to take to these movies, then don't go. They're not for you.
  9. Take a chill pill. It's all in good fun. At the very least it keeps people taking about these comic book characters. And generating interest is great as I'd like to see more and more superhero movies brought to the big screen. This is the golden age of superhero movies, and I for one, am glad I'm alive to be along for the ride.

  12. Like I pointed earlier, DC/Warner tried the "family" approach with Batman & Robin and made a billion in merchandise and stuff too. Planned another Schumacher installment before it opened ("Batman Triumphant") even. Look what happened there. The character was shelved for eight years. In all seriousness.... Everything runs it's course. I agree. Sony will eventually run this so far into the ground that even the children will lose interest in it. Eventually it will make a comeback. Whether that's in 5, 10, 15 years, who knows. I do know the wait for Batman Begins was well worth it for me as that was one of my favorite movies. Maybe it's just the long wait in between films that makes them much more enjoyable rather than pumping sequels out (for the easy $$$) every two years.
  13. MOS made money off promotions,.... Not relevant to the 225M MOS budget and 425M ASM budget posted in the chart provided. Those numbers are simply apples and apples + oranges. There has not been a 425M production budget since Avatar. Production budgets are what are thrown around everywhere, because everyone wants to know how much the director was given to actually make the movie and marketing costs are highly variable. The ASM movie had an estimated production budget of somewhere between 200M-255M. Although the nefarious intent accusations seem a little far fetched. Not sure what the point would be. I suspect that with all the hush hush surrounding the working budget number for this movie, it's closer to 300M. The studio was afraid that number would increase the critics negativity and so they've yet to release an official number. Which of course is going to add to spectacle of what a domestic financial disappointment this movie is. Hate to say it, but that seems to be the case. Box Office Mojo is quick to post a budget once a movie starts rolling out in the theater. Nothing on ASM2 yet when it comes to budget. Sony seems to be holding this back right now. But that doesn't mean I am glad if Spider-Man does poorly. As big a name as Spidey is to the comic industry, the last thing someone should want is this movie to come across as weak. Yup. And with all the families that had such a happy time taking their children to see this movie, we can expect many more Spider-Mans films to continue providing these great family times for years to come. All those peripheral sales in Spidey merchandise, tv and cable rights, dvd sales, prormo money that they don't feel the need to advertise to the public to prop up their revenue, sheesh, it all adds up to many more films providing a good time for families around the world. Thank you Sony. (thumbs u
  14. Do the Spider-Man haters protest too much? That was easy. Congratulations to Sony for producing yet another wildly successful Spider-Man film for the children. It's already made more at the box office than Man of Steel and is on it's way to over $700 million worldwide. (thumbs u This franchise is still going strong even after 4 previous films put out in the last several years, including a reboot. The iconic childrens' character is so popular worldwide that 4 more Spider-Man films are in the works including two spin-offs. It's a great time for children around the world and their parents who get to spend quality time with their family while viewing these blockbuster films. Kudos to Stan Lee, Steve Ditko, Marvel, and Sony for bringing such joy to everyone around the world. Can't wait till the next Spider flick hits the theaters.
  15. MOS made money off promotions, which in the end was around $170 MM when done. Superman Reboot 'Man of Steel' Snares $160M in Promotions With more than 100 global promotional partners and $160 million in collective promotional support, the newest Superman installment, "Man of Steel," is shaping up to be the most Madison Avenue-friendly film of the summer, and the most heavily promoted Warner Bros. film this year. Wow, no other movie made money on endorsements. huh? Or maybe they didn't need to prop their films up with nonsense like this.
  16. It's really pathetic how jealous some people are of Marvel's characters being successful on the big screen. Shameful.
  17. You were the one who said if a movie is successful the companies will definitely make sequels. Where is the Man of Steel sequel? The Spider-Man films are still going strong after 5 recent films with more in the works. Go figure. Sounds like someone is jealous. That's to be understood. This is a Marvel character after all. Thanks again to Sony for producing yet another wildly successful Spider-Man movie. Families around the world wait in eager anticipation for the next installment.
  18. I guess it depends on how old you are. I think they've all gotten less interesting since Spider-Man 2, but then again I'm not the target audience for these films. They're best for families with children 15 and under IMHO.

  20. By crazy buyers,do you mean like those that would complain because an item was not shipped the very next when it was a Sunday and started a thread to complain about it? Ah, even better, how about those crazy sellers that resell items if you do not respond within 15 minutes to an invoice sent at 3am? Yeah, we certainly would not want to block people like that. + 1
