I can remember the first con he brought them to (Casual Con in Buena Park), people thought he was crazy but still buying. His rationale was, everything we had thought was “mint” was shattered with this collection. EVERY book looked like they were printed yesterday.

Thanks for sharing simply mind boggling to see those prices. That Baker War Romance run for $62 bucks :whatthe:

ps Many collectors/dealers still didn’t know who Matt Baker was in 2000 when I started buying his books and art.

  2. To be more specific about the 10k minimum value for consignment, was related to a GA showcase auction. HA spending time and resources to focus on a particular artist only they needed at least $10k in value. Which some GA artist books & artwork can easily reach hundreds in value.

  3. Agree, doesn’t look Baker to me. More like trying to ape his style. Definitely not Baker inks look at the guy holding gun bad inking. Female face also doesn’t look Baker. This is 1948! Baker joined St John late 1948.

Baker rarely ink, but when he did it’s was a very smooth hand, not heavy inks. Really early was inking Alex Blum pencils.
    Also ink several Flamingo strips.

I love Suzie 56! One of the covers that has sat a little bit under the radar. I was surprised to see the Cindy 37 drop, and I bet the next copy will do better. I think GGA will permanently cool as soon as people stop being attracted to beautiful women. :whatev:

Matt Baker GGA is obviously on fire :Rocket:

I did one of those too.  But I went from the other "P _ _" company to CGC.  Other Co gave it a green label and noted the "hand-trimmed cover wrap" but CGC just gave it the PLOD "trimmed" notation.  Look at that wavy top edge:

many St John books heavy miscut. there's miscut fightin marines 7 cgc 5.0 on HA coming up, that was my sold-on bay really cheap.

also the fightin marines 4 cgc 8.5 highest graded is miscut. on my pc.

Agreed; I've asked questions to figure out how limited these actually are (or aren't) and never received a real answer.

I have a couple (one has a 2020 backing board on it so there's that), and they are nice to complement my GA copies, but I treat them just as a produced item from a store. I'm not paying over the starting bid (usually $25) as I'm assuming they can continue to churn them out. I see some of these go for multiple hundreds and am shocked.

This seller push this for sale before pandemic and didn’t sell. The new and no knowledge Baker collectors are over paying for this prints now.
