  1. Congratulations on being able to do a google search. Perhaps you should read my post in context with regard to the use of the word "Statistics," what do you think?
  2. If Marvel sticks with its Horror tie-in phase, there are going to be alot of people on the outside looking in when it comes to HG magazine books. Few and far between in HG.
  3. Considering I didnt suggest anything close to what you wrote in your first paragraph in response to my post, you should go back and re-read what I wrote more carefully. Or not. Or, even better, don't speculate on why the bid history is what it is, unless you are one of the two folks that bid over 20,000 for that book. Or maybe you are both bidders. Anyway, the say you are "sure" about how this played out is not accurate, you don't know. Great guess though. With regard to your second paragraph, grading may be an art, but the quantification of grades related to the values of those books (which is what someone is willing to pay for the books in their various grades) is a science, and an exact one, called "Statistics." Again, to skip over your guessing game (gamification ), isn't the proof in the sales data? Just because you don't believe in it doesn't make it wrong because it actually works in a way opposite of your viewpoint. You sell books on this website, and probably other platforms. To give your position any veracity, should you be open to selling a 9.4 graded copy of Book X for a price more consistent with a 9.2 graded copy or a 9.0 graded copy? Because why would "some buyers would pay multiples more for tiny increases in subjective grades when we have seen books at times go from CGC 4.0 all the way up to CGC 9.0 and books from CGC 9.0 be "maximized" all the way up to CGC 9.8 [?]" (cut and pasted out of your statement.) (Emphasis Added.) Put your position through the test, post the books for sale with prices based on the principle of the matter and lets see where we all end up.
  4. I think this is spot on. Certainly looking at the bidding history on Comiclink for the 94 shows a wide jump between the cluster of final bids in the two bids that pushed it over the $20,000 amount. But the reality is this book in 9.6 grade could be had for 6000 and change a half a year ago, and it is impossible to see a market correction that brings it back to 7500 or 8000. The fact of the matter is that the disparity between grades is a real thing, and to take it one step further, you also have the issue of white pages versus off-white to white pages, and these very bowls, along with the fact that this is a stone cold lock top five bronze age key, it’s not hard to see the new market for this book settling in at The $15,000 range, with nowhere to go but up. This is also one of the books that transcends whether or not there is a movie in the works, or a Netflix series, or a Disney+ show, etc. as this will always be a desirable book from The perspective of a seasoned collector, but it doesn’t hurt that over the next 10 years when the X universe moves into the marvel and Disney realm, this book and giant size X-Men one will be front and center in terms of the books to have, and any grade, but especially 9.6 and 9.8.
  5. I did not have a bid tracker in on the 9.8 #94, but I did track (and put a legit bid) on a #94 in 9.6 grade...at that went for $20,367 I think...if there was a 9.8 that went for that, it was a steal, before and after the 9.6 went off.
  6. The She Hulk Rocky Mountain ended at 1900. Some other notables: Star Wars 1 9.8 white $4600 TOD 10 9.6 white $5981 X-Men 50 9.8 ow-w $9,100 X-Men 54 9.6 white Rocky Mountain $1450 X-Men 96 9.8 white CVA $3315 X-Men 129 9.8 white $3100 (horrible cover wrap) Not Bronze but: X-Men 266 9.8 white direct $978
  7. The 9.6 on Comiclink went off last night for a shade under 19,000
  8. DK #1 9.8 for $1000 was the most surprising of all of the Clink auctions I had tracking bids on last night, which has been a 550-650 book for the past year or so. 561 blue 9.8s, not the biggest number, but not that small of a number either. Tough to keep this book in 9.8 condition due to the square binding.
  9. 9.2 with OW pages. Is a GXM 1 9.6 at 20K book now? Is a GXM 1 9.8 a 40K book now? Close to 10K graded, less than 600 9.8s and 9.6s.
  10. I have been looking for PPSSM 87 for about 6 months. 12 9.8s in the census, no 9.8s for sale presently, last sale was in October 2020. PP reveals identity to the Black Cat. That 80s-90s run of SM/BC is a pretty decent read, but could be a good book down the road when BC makes it into the MCU.
  11. Okay. You go figure out how comic book collecting, buying, and selling works.
  12. I...I think you might be in the wrong thread, forum, message board, collectible market, planet. I don’t know of anything else to say to you.
  13. Sounds like a plan. Paying more for something later, even though the price keeps going up because of demand, not rarity, makes really super good sense.
  14. I don’t think anyone is suggesting that it is rare, but rather, the demand simply outweighs the supply. If you are not buying one because “there’s always one listed somewhere,” at some point, haven’t you noticed that this book that is always listed keeps getting more expensive and more expensive?
  15. My experience with Clink has been very different, I tend to buy stuff under GPA on Clink and Heritage (but thats because of the ridiculous 20% buyers premium), but with Joe 1, 2, 26, 27, 155, and of course 21, these books look like they are going there and staying there in terms of price climbs.
  16. Man dont know a thing about it. I googled it to figure out what the contents of the book are, but thats as far as I got. I dont have it in hand yet from Comic Link, but I am betting its in a magazine holder, as its three comics in one book effectively. It just really through me off that there is one CGC submitted book. I like collecting the hard to find ARAH era stuff, but this is just the outlier of all outliers.
  17. The last one I saw was on eBay maybe about a month ago, and it went off for around 380 I think, and then I didn’t see one until the CLink auction. More than I wanted to pay, just didn’t want to miss the boat again.
  18. Got this during the last Clink auction. TPB of ARAH 3, 6, and 7. Census: 1 graded copy, this one. Just stumbled on it. Anyone know the backstory? Its Marvel, but I have never seen it before.
  19. #1 ARAH 9.8 went for 1995 on Clink two night ago. The ship has officially sailed. To me 26 and 27 have to be next that get up to a grand each.
