  1. If a GA book was complete and in decent condition then I would slab keys in this coverless state, otherwise 99% of the people interested in these items will be wanting them to harvest parts from in order to complete other copies. Not worth the cost of slabbing.
  2. I would get a quick press for any of my 9.8 books that has gone through a signing event, just general handling during a signing often leaves fingerprints and the most slightest of indents.
  3. I totally forgot this was being considered - will have to double my sacrificial offerings to the great old ones so that they may bless us with this adaptation. Praise be to the Ogdru Jahad!
  4. Can't wait to head home for the holidays and dig this baby out of storage (in a random box with another 15-20 sealed figures. As a teen one part of collecting was whenever I saw a sealed figure for less than $50 I would pick it up and add it to the pile)
  5. A very good case is that it was disclosed by the pro who did the work. It might very well be undetectable, but all pros would be providing an itemized list of all work done to a book and the materials/processes used when submitting to CGC.
  6. I've never seen this before so perhaps someone can clarify, what does it mean when a book is classified as REJECT in under the additional details of a books Restored census data?
  7. I'm thinking these are now making a play to be removed from the 'undervalued' category All auctions as of this week:
  8. Nice - would love to see how that one turns out. I can count on one hand the amount of times I've seen this book come up for sale in the last decade, so it's always nice to find another new one to compare with.
  9. Depending on movement I would imagine a blown staple can cause long term issues, I can see one of my books that has a cover detached from one staple shift and move away from the book at times which makes me think it is putting irregular stress on the remaining connection. This is something that isn't always noted on the label but will be in the graders notes (I have one book that has no notes on the label itself, but the graders notes says 'Cover detached at one staple' which is a detail I think should always be included on the actual labels)
  10. You don't get much else, I won't actually submit books directly to CGC with this account as I prefer to go through a LCS and get their discount (and save on shipping since doing it myself costs $90us to ship even one book back to me)
  11. Easiest $25 I've ever spent, I had over five books already I wanted the notes for so this was an instant purchase. Makes buying slabs also much better now that I can get a better idea about the book without having to spend extra money. 100% best Christmas miracle of the season. edit: miscounted how many books I wanted notes for and it was actually 12 books that I've held off buying the notes for - so this just paid for itself.
  12. Was going to wait until this book was back in my hands before posting, but how could I hold out. Just finished up at CGC and now waiting at the conservation expert's office. This is my absolute grail of all golden age superhero books, and I was very lucky to buy this one a few years ago as a CGC 1.8. This one is staying with me forever (unless of course I magically jump up a dozen pay grades and can afford a high grade copy!) so I knew I better make sure it could last for the long haul. It originally, a CGC 1.8, had a completely split and detached cover with a decent amount of tape on it, so once I saw that it was shifting around in the case (yikes CGC!!) I knew it deserved work to keep it structurally solid for the lifetime to come. Very happy with the grade bump it got after the fantastic work done by Phantom Restoration.
  13. Would anyone here have any idea on what the print runs for GA Adventure Comics might have been? I don't own enough raw issues to check for distribution/print run numbers that might have been printed in them (I recall reading that it was legally required for books to do so at least once a year, correct?)
  14. Excellent and trusted buyer! You can't go wrong selling them your comics!
  15. The census to me is simply a tool to figure out the "census threshold" for the condition of a book. That is to say, for many key books that get larger submissions due to popularity it is easy to figure out the average grade and from there I try to aim at purchasing a copy that is better than the majority of other slabs out there. This is of course only really valuable for issues that are plentiful, and older Golden Age books I'll take what I can get
  16. Looks very interesting. I really hope they cover how the companies created mirror characters of the others and who came first, as I'm finding lots of modern Marvel fans assume any similar character between the two companies is knocking off Marvel since they first experienced them in the MCU (such as Doctor Strange v Doctor Fate, so diving into the Golden Age would be very educational for many people to learn exactly how far back DC goes)
  17. my gut says 2.0, but since I just got back a worse looking book that graded 2.0 I think one could justifiably be given 2.5....but no higher!
  18. Overall I'm more excited for 'DCU', mainly because it isn't as locked down with a set standard aesthetic and long term plan like the MCU is. Feels like we can get far more interesting and different styles/ideas out of the future of DCU with the 'universe' connection being far looser (and a public/corporation that is totally at peace with recasting the big characters every few years without blinking an eye)
  19. This is the exact sort of comic promotion that I find is missing for the majority of comic films. I've run into so many MCU fans who didn't know where to start or what to buy after seeing many of the movies - so having a quick movie-branded collection of existing material is VERYYY helpful (being clearly movie branded helps say to new fans "HEY! YOU LIKE THE MOVIE - THIS IS WHAT YOU NEED TO READ NOW!" - less confusion and cuts through all the noise. No excuse for any property to not have something like this available.
  20. Bump & a chunky price drop! You won't find a copy in this grade cheaper anywhere else!
  21. DM me with any questions of offers - don't be shy with offers (or flattery, it will get you places) and because I'm bored...price lowered just because to make the starting buy-it-now interesting.
  22. Please no hall of shamers or probies. We will ship anywhere in North America, shipping included in price. All prices are in USD, and I only accept Pay Pal (or e-transfer for fellow Canadians). No returns on graded books. Check out my kudos thread for my history of selling/buying - I'll treat you right! First timestamped gets it over any ongoing PM offers.Just one book for this week which won't need much introduction: WEREWOLF BY NIGHT #32 CGC 5.0 - Signature Series Signed by Doug Moench Excellent display piece with a signature that has equally great eye-appeal. Signed by writer and Moon Knights creator Doug Moench, he signed the book at the bottom in silver werewolf killing ink, so it does catch the light and goes well with our silver-clad hero (it isn't a flat grey color ink). Only selling as I still have an under copy I'll learn to live with, as I need to fund a Golden Age addiction GPA is all over the place on this book, in fact just look at what its doing in this exact signed grade. However, since I do not follow the chaotic energy of such things as the human comic economy or common sense... SOLD!
  23. I'm looking for more details behind Golden Age "Checking Copies", specifically confirmation about at which point during the process they might have been utilized. For those unaware of what these are: Checking copies are intended for the editors or "checkers" of ad copy, in order to make sure all ad copy & placement was correct. Checking copies would often have check marks in pencil on each ad throughout the book when confirming that they were correct by staff/advertisers. They would also often have a CHECKING COPY stamp on the cover indicating it as such, and are different from 'File Copies' as they were used in the actual process of manufacturing the issue while the others were just pulled to be filed away for reference after the fact. I have seen some people say they are amongst the first ever printed of that book (before it is even distributed so that editors and sponsors can sign off on it prior to the full print run being done), however others I have seen say these were sent out to sponsors later on during invoicing in order to show everything went as planned and payment should be made in full (so after the print job was completed, but not necessarily after distributon to shops). I'm sure the process and handling varied between publishers, but it would be interesting to learn more about them; how many exist per issue? were these pre-production prints used to catch any issue prior to doing a full print run, or copies pulled from the final print run for reference? Below: My favourite Checking Copy. Very clear stamp on cover (with a date and additional check written by it), and all interior ad pages have 1-3 check marks on them (clearly done by different people, as some are in pencil and others in ball point pen)
