  1. The only two golden age pulps I own, and hope to maybe one day complete the entire run from that year. His work has been getting noticed by many of the 20-somethings I know who are becoming interested in the pinups he did.
  2. Can anyone here help confirm if the book I bought is a Nova Scotia pedigree? It seems to fit the time frame and the marking looks on point (though slightly faded, or possibly lightened due to somebody dry cleaning it), though I'm not sure if there is a list of all books accounted for in that pedigree or not. More pics in the spoiler so this post doesn't get too fat
  3. Literally the best thing to come out of the Boba series so far. More of what we love...episodes of The Mandalorian season.
  4. A nice piece of history (do you have a pic of the signed proof?), though a pretty lazy response by Eisner (It's not about intent. It's about impact) who did however have more to say on the matter: "The only excuse I have for [that portrayal] is that at the time humor consisted in our society of bad English and physical difference in identity." "I believe strongly that there's nothing wrong with stereotype. Stereotype has been made a bad word. But it's not a bad [thing] unless it's used badly -- for evil purposes. But [sometimes] it's the only way you can communicate, visually." aka: Listen, at the time it was fine to disparage minorities, and drawing him that way was the only way to communicate he was black to you dummies, duh! Edit: FYI the quotes are from his 2003 interview with Time magazine, which touches on both Ebony and Fagin the Jew.
  5. It would be a NG, and only if the cover was attached. I would be curious to what the label notations would be for something like that - maybe one day I'll submit one of the custom cover books for encapsulation just to see what happens as an experiment.
  6. Speaks volumes that that best episode of Book of Boba Fett was in fact a Mandalorian episode. Didn't even feel like it was part of the show and was a breath of fresh air.
  7. Sheesh, that is all over the place. I guess we can say $2,000 is the low floor for TOS39 coverless and honestly seems like the time to buy if you can get it for that price (as if AF15 single pages are going for 3-5k each we should be safe to assume this full book will hit that one day the focus of nostalgia shifts back to Iron Man in a few years)
  8. Good to have a recent coverless sale of #39 to answer the question where it is right now (though honestly, with how high coverless or single pages of AF15 have selling for I was expecting a final hammer price slightly higher for this - especially considering a coverless sold on clink a month ago for double this price)
  9. Sweet Swiss cheese holed Jesus on a stick! My friend has a 0.5 SS CGC copy (restored cover due to CT and glue) signed by Stan Lee that we've been trying to value and I've pegged it as being a $15-17k book last time I crunched numbers...but now, he could crack it, remove the interior and sell it for basically that amount and still have a signed cover wrap to sell which I assume would clear at least $8k on its own. This world is bonkers.
  10. Considering the track record of vocal fans I'm sure we'll get people screaming for something like #ReleaseTheSilentCut :P
  11. But did he? Killing the biker gang seemed petty and cowardly, especially after he agreed it didn't make sense that they actually did the attack (so they both were thinking it was a trick - this is mirroring the Storm Troopers trying to fake a Tuskin Raider attack in the original trilogy), blowing up sarlacc didn't mean anything since it was just blowing up an animal doing what it does (no reason there was a score to settle there, maybe if he pushed a Jawa into it for stealing his gear I would agree), and the only 'score' that might have been settled was a quick 1 second flashback of him killing Bib Fortuna (which seemed very anti-climactic since we've been building up to this being a big thing).
  12. Glorious day!!! My most favourite grail, and biggest key that I own, has arrived home after having some amazing conservation work done on it by Phantom Restoration. The minor work done to help preserve it resulted in a considerable grade bump - it was originally a 1.8 (There is a picture of it in the old case somewhere in this thread). Yes, I'm ecstatic
  13. Which only really matter to investors - who set those estimates in the first place, and who want infinite growth for no effort. If we went by stockholder expectations then we might be led to believe that a company simply remaining stable and profitable really means they are dying :P Revenue still grew 16% year over year, and paid memberships rose 9% year over year. People like to cry about how Disney or other streaming services grow more content, but Netflix is tech first and a movie studio second - it focuses on the backend and is way ahead of almost every other company in terms of how they develop and operate their tech. That's the real money maker for them (since everyone else would pay hand over fist to use their chaos system tools and infrastructure)
  14. This episode seemed like nothing of note really happened, and after watching it I felt like I just watched a trailer for the show. Some nice set pieces, but no real meat. Also at one of the biggest things I was excited for, him taking on Bib Fortuna and usurping the entire organization (literally the entire point of the show!), was reduced to a single second flash back.
  15. I'm looking to buy color guides from ANY issues or pages from the Fist of Khonshu series. I figure that since I've completed hunting down my graded set of my favourite MK run the next logical step is to accent it with some OA. Obviously this is the worst time ever to ask about buying anything Moon Knight, but the hunt must continue so I'm totally prepared to overpay (and regret it later). I'm open to paying minimum $100 USD up to $750 USD per page depending on what it depicts. If you have a cover color guide we can discuss a much higher amount. Show me what you got!
  16. plot twist: The kid does NOT want to buy them and said he rather spend his money on buying big key books before focusing on collecting the rest of the series. Now I just play the waiting game for when he regrets it ("Wait...I could have bought ALL the Iron Man comics EVER for a grand? Including a mid-grade #1?"). We all have our comic-buying regrets that we wish we had done differently...I'm happy to be part of someones future core-memory regret
  17. Me watching the GPA numbers on a Moon Knight book that has been worthless for almost 40 years:
  18. This is where I'm at. I really get this nagging feeling it is just a nice deep-cut character name to throw fans off and keep a few surprises out of the discussion. We know how much MCU films LOOOVVVVEE to have a third act hero-vs-identical-villian battle...so sun king makes more sense than a cyborg-zombie controlling scientist (but I'm still crossing my fingers it is Arthur Harrow...I love me the Fist of Khonshu run, as it got me into Moon Knight and Marvel comics overall)
  19. It gets dumber. People need to sit down and rethink a few basic life principles at this point (hell, I'm not even sure it isn't a marketing trick and he actually IS playing this character in the show yet. I would love it...cause this a favourite issue of mine, but my moony-senses are tingling). I do think some sellers are self bidding up some of these auctions in order to make their other STACKS AND STACKS of inventory look like a deal when listed My contact who I sourced my 9.8 from, has a warehouse of stock which includes boxes of this issue. SETTLE DOWN PEOPLE! I wonder what my copy would fetch right now ;)
  20. Excellent buyer - great to deal with!
  21. My pleasure - it wouldn't have been right to hold onto a book when a set like yours was so close to completion and looked so good
  22. I would might have actually considered watching if they made this shlock Dracnado...a tornado filled with vampires (and as it travels across the country it slowly becomes more and more red from being saturated with blood for feeding. Maybe at the end they defeat it by having a hundred priests bless an entire store of dam water before releasing it to flood out the tornado with a holy water tsunami...I dunno, I'm sure I've put more effort into writing this post than any Asylum -script ever has)
  23. Yeah, remember when the Spider-Man movies had literally a 1 hour scenes of him putting on his costume! Thank god they finally managed to get these movies under 2 hours by way of introducing his nano-Stark armor.
  24. It seems that the subtitles for the trailer say he is Dr. Arthur Harrow. Pretty sure that is a trick in order to misdirect fans so that there are some surprises left by the time it is released - however if it ends up being accurate I'm super happy about that, as it means my favourite issue of my favourite nostalgic run is going to skyrocket in value
