  1. If anyone needs them, I have some pages from Mystic Comics #6 (1st Destroyer / 1st Stan Lee creation). Available is the last page (so half of the 1st wrap), and the entire 2nd wrap (so parts of the Destroyer story, with some Nazi imagery, as well as parts of the Blazing Skull story) in worn condition.
  2. While this would make browsing for relevant era sales easier, I feel it would stifle many sellers who now have to post in multiple places. I'm a lazy man and often I myself would opt to not list the few Copper/Modern books I might have available since they would have to be on their own when I'm listing a slew of books in one thread (and find 'mixed' to be super dead, so its better to just ignore copper/modern outright and focus on only ever selling GA/SA/BA). More robust search options and sellers who actually tag their posts correctly would be a better solution
  3. The photos actually didn't do it justice. I inquired about it and shipping costs to Canada and the seller sent me some much clearer pics, however before we could talk further it was bought outright (note the listing says the 'best offer' was accepted, however when I viewed it live there was no such offer and it was just fixed priced, so I imagine it went for something very close to the full amount as I would have been happy to offer him anywhere from $1400-$1700 right off the bat)
  4. The I wouldn't put much stock in it actually being Gary Francis Poste, the 'evidence' was flimsy at best. He was known to the FBI prior to these 'armchair' detectives fingering him and was cleared (hence why these 'detectives' kept shopping it around to media outlets only after rejected by the FBI). The photo 'evidence' alone is a big joke, but the real actual kicker is the cypher explanation given. The best explanation to the Zodiac thus far, IMO, was by Thomas Henry Horan who wrote 'Myth of the Zodiac Killer'. There wasn't a 'single' Zodiac technically (two known writers of the cyphers), and several of the crimes associated with Zodiac had nothing to do with the case and only became tangled up due to media reporting and how the police handled each case at the time - including how it was still common practice to allow journalists to type up reports for officers who couldn't type well, and the Vallejo Police Department approached the cases using Robert Graysmiths book on the Zodiac as a 'bible' to look at them and connect crimes (you can imagine the problems in doing that from the onset of an investigation during a media frenzy). Also fun fact - the group who claimed him to be Gary Francis Poste initially reached out to Horan and his Zodiac boards...and were thoroughly ripped to shreds over their 'evidence' It is a shame the author has become fairly bonkers online with his interactions, as it now makes people dismiss the entire investigation outright without giving it a chance. The writing is poor, but I still recommend Horan's 'Myth of the Zodiac Killer' to anyone interested (and yes, he names the 'real' zodiac...the aforementioned Robert Graysmith himself, who wrote the first book on Zodiac - the evidence for this is very interesting on how he was the first to write the initial batch of cyphers, how he obtained police evidence and directed the police/media, as well as excerpts from his first rejected Zodiac draft which he scraped when the story changed in the media and he wanted to craft a different tale without giving away his involvement)
  5. It's in the FN range. Easily FN- as it is now, but I could see it hitting FN+ if cleaned and pressed.
  6. I hope someone can help confirm this one for me: Nova Scotia pedigree, yay or nay? I have this More Fun comics issue with a very obvious M on the cover, though hard to see in my photos. The part of it on the white is perhaps faded, maybe even partially erased from a past cleaning? (as the part that overlaps the red ink in the title is noticeably darker, as if it wasn't touched)
  7. Yeah MJ ain't going to die, it just feels like a fake out. At this point I would sooner expect her to armour up and join in the fight rather than be subject to an unoriginal call-back death.
  8. Nice - I do regret not being faster and buying that other board copy. ARRGGG! I've made peace with not having a blue label again (except for my NG coverless copy which scratch the low-grade itch), so with the CGC 0.5 universal one I do own I opted to send it out for the full-works restoration and see how high we can take the book so I can have at mid/high grade copy to display forever. It just got done taking a bath (no more massive tape stains). I
  9. Yup, I too was on the hunt for a copy last year but honestly only ever saw two complete listings that were reasonably priced (one on the boards that I missed for $1k, and the other on Ebay which I bought. I overpaid slightly on GPA at the time since I wanted a very specific looking one with great page quality and no defects on the front page). The others I kept seeing below $1k were missing pages, specifically parts of the Iron Man story so figured of all pages it best to have those so I passed on all of em. This new pricing does make sense to me and honestly isn't a surprise (except for how soon it is happening), as I have been seeing less and less 'affordable' low grade copies hit the market and people are needing to battle it out in bidding wars to now get any copy within their budget. I can see it being on the same trajectory as AF15, as a NG/Coverless/Missing Pages copy of that went for $6,350 earlier this year which is much more affordable than a 0.5 Incomplete at $21,600. I do see why it it went for almost as much as a restored copy in this case (the restored copy had a good deal of tape, had three hole punches through the entire book, and on the cover those holes were filled in with crappy paper and lots of color touch the looked to have bled through everywhere - so even if you removed the cover the insides most certainly were also wrecked up). This was the other copy that ended a few minutes before this NG copy. It still looks good and I would be happy to own it, but for many others the stigma of restoration, especially janky amateur quality, is strong.
  10. Posted this in another TOS39 related thread, but certainly of interest here. This has passed the 'heating up' phase for a coverless book and went straight to inferno fire with the ending of tonights clink auction. I've been saying of all coverless keys to get, this was the one that was undervalued the most - especially with it having the single best first page of ALL silver age keys (even AF15. This has it all - giant full page iconic art splash (no other distracting panels!!), character name at top like a masthead, clear list of credits that include Stan Lee, and a fun awesome intro text box) but this was a price jump I wasn't expecting (I had hoped to 'overpay' by bidding a generous $2,000 so I could pick up another one for my collection but hot damn), this is triple what they were going for earlier this year.
  11. Ah, excuse me.....but, what is going on. I've been touting the affordability of coverless keys for years, especially for TOS39 due to the EPIC first page (the best of all SA keys, including AF15), but this is some next level stuff (just ended tonight on clink) For context, this copy ended 1 minute after another low grade TOS39 in the same auction:
  12. So when do we get the reveal its all Mysterio...please and thank you! (as it clearly would take his skills to digitally erase the other Spider-Men from this trailer even though he did a poor job of it since we can see it) edit: for those who haven't seen it just watch the Brazilian version of this trailer. It's very obvious and hilarious
  13. So since Doc Oct is looking to be mostly good in this (though I bet he turns 'evil' again after getting the Stark tech nanites, and it allows his arms to regain control of him) I'm going to say the leader of the Sinister Six is the biggest villain of the series....
  14. Didn't look like an actual mask to me, but rather just a quick flash of the electricity moving around him forming the shape when he uses his powers. I would say to set your expectations to 'this is it, and the rest of the time he is mask-less'
  15. Very good dive into why Dune ends up looking great. Lighting is a BIG thing for me in movies, something many superhero movies botch (regardless of if a stylistic look is intended the lighting is often an immersion breaker), so getting this right was well worth it.
  16. One of my favourite artists ever, and love his 'minimal' style on Hellboy - as it takes a master to know what details to omit and which to keep for maximum impact. I still keep my fingers crossed that one day he will write/draw a Swamp Thing issue (or better yet give us a Hellboy/Swamp Thing cross over one-shot, much like when he teamed up with Batman)
  17. Never believe, share, or take seriously, anything posted by USERNAME BUNCH OF NUMBERS accounts
  18. The name wouldn't be needed and isn't important to me overall, the imagery alone of him would have been enough (or a shortened version of it, perhaps simply being known as FOOM if that is acceptable)
  19. It was honestly a great decision overall and would have seen as very derivative compared to the gems had they stuck closer to the source. I think the only thing I would have loved to see is Wenwu being influenced by Fin Fang Foom rather than some random generic nightmare creatures (perhaps with IRL influence and convincing by Chen Hsu, who was pushing the idea of rescuing his wife in order to free his fellow dragon)
  20. Finally saw it and felt it was one of the better recent MCU films just on account of tone, colors, action and lighting. Pretty solid except for the last battle, which really suffered from poor CGI making it all look very flat (lots of that was due to the color grading when it became 'darker'). The final act was typical superhero film letdown, with a muddy mess of a giant CGI battle - but in this case far less exciting than most since they just introduce large VERY OBVIOUSLY EVIL looking nightmare beasts to fight that they could have done without. Bus fight was legendary, and I loved that they leaned into proper Wuxia style for nearly all the action. I'm always happy to see Kirin on screen, and even better shishi, though would have been happier with less Ben Kingsley (should have been limited to just the castle, not brought with for the final act) and more development for the sister (especially since we only hear her dismantling the organization at the end off screen) and of course even more screen time for Tony Leung (I would have asked that even if he had 2 hours of screen time - always more!)
  21. I don't think any comparisons to fine are is of any value when discussing comic conservation/restoration, it would be better to compare it to other non-unique collectibles - in this case my go to is movie posters and lobby cards. These were printed in abundance as well, had a public circulation (at least being sent to theatres and handled often for setup and storage), and outside a few enthusiasts it wasn't something the general public collected and saved. Unlike baseball cards or other 'flat' paper items these often were folded for storage and handling, so you did have some level of 'interaction' with them that would impact the object. The restoration and conservation in this area is much less stigmatized and in fact often encouraged - as these are items that were meant to be displayed and so the goal is to have one that looks as close to how it would have in a theatre as possible. The big issue is that CGC went with only the word RESTORATION when it first came out, with no distinction between that and Conservation - something that has established standards in the industry.
  22. I would honestly consider getting this conserved to re-attach the cover, as I have seen some qualified books (for married covers) loose the 'married' designation after conservation (and go to a blue/grey label with a grade bump).
