  1. Is it just me or does Ethan Hawke look exactly like Kevin Bacon now?
  2. It's also a Monday. They are really not being subtle with their moon based marketing
  3. Pretty much the entire 'present' plot regarding the orginization (after Dracula is free from the waters) was done in the Hellsing anime series back in 2001 (though the story beats came before it in the manga in 1997) and they are not even that subtle about it.
  4. If by divide you mean we found it lazy because they lifted the entire thing from an anime we all watched two decades ago
  5. We don't speak of that abomination ever. ugh, my wife and I will sit through pretty much anything - but that series had us agreeing to turn it off fairly quickly. Since most of the recent adaptations have been very disappointing we are rather focusing on watching earlier folk horror films for vampires (and other creatures) we might have missed since those seem to have much more variety, some of which are BBS (Before Bram Stoker) such as Leptirica. Some ain't at all good, but what they lack in quality they make up for in actual unique ideas and exploration of folk tales less appreciated.
  6. Well...the good news is that it doesn't look like the WORST thing I've ever seen.
  7. For as long as I've collected Iron Man I've always hated #1 (uninteresting story continued over from another two series, awful cover, nothing eventful or any new appearances. Such a poor 1st issue of a new series). It was everywhere and I never regarded it as anything but common filler, so now when I'm gearing up to actually sell my entire Iron Man run (100% of volumes 1-5) I have told a local kid interested in it all that I refuse to sell #1 for anything close to current guide on it. I rather it all go to a new eager fan of the character then just hawking it online (it's a CGC 4.0, so I told him it will be at most $350 for it...but in my mind that is three times what that garbage should be worth) Of course...he is new and we shall see if he actually recognizes the deal I'm offering him ($1,000 for everything...500+ issues should give his collection a decent boost)
  8. Yup, people keep sharing that image though it's just concept art we already saw last year.
  9. I'm not going to post pics or even the original news rumours since I find their sources questionable (once those are fleshed out better i'll feel better sharing em), but apparently the 'leak/rumor' is yes there is a second costume worn later in the film.
  10. So excited for this, though that one scene in the video killed some of my buzz.
  11. Hell yeah. edit: replaced image with the full shot.
  12. It's honestly getting to the point were trying to price out the possible value/price of other copies is nothing but guesses. I've been wracking my head trying to figure out how to help price my friends CGC 0.5 Restored Signature Series Stan Lee. Any AF15 is an AF15...but it's restored (Slight Restored due to glue and a little CT on the cover)...but it also has the most important signature possible on it...and it looks good for the grade...and it's COVID crazy collectible wildcard pricing! So who knows! A few weeks ago I told him to assume at least $10k, but now I'm telling him to assume $15-17k without any clue on where it can go (both in the near future and the long term).
  13. Episode 3 was a mess, and it is really becoming obvious there isn't a good narrative thread that links the past/present sections together (I'm sure they will come together later, but they should be reinforcing one another right now and helping build up a core idea). We have zero idea what motivated Fett to take over. I didn't mind the young gang, it actually made sense to me that they would be using bright contrasting colours in such a drab place (they were not poor, so their tech and fashion choices and crime seem more to do with boredom or simple youthful spite against society). I wish they were developed more though - how about some names and better banter between them when first introduced? All we got are they show up and immediately get recruited. Also what a wasted opportunity for Krrsantan...really came off as weak, when this would have been an amazing time to show what a Wookie can do! Everybody remembers the original Star Wars quote about how “It's not wise to upset a Wookiee” and now we have him fighting people with CYBERNETIC PARTS which could be easily ripped off for dramatic effects (while also sticking with Disney's family friendly outlook...can't have him killing people now, can we?). Sigh. Rancor inclusion felt like more fan service. We get it, Jabba had one...but it was special, so why not do something different with Fett? He took down that multi-armed thing in the desert in a previous episode, so why not have him remember that and hunt one down to being back alive for his own pit?
  14. Lot has been withdrawn by heritage now - so looks like CGC did find an issue with it (hopefully it will be re-graded and listed in the future). When it was pulled the price was already around $1,100usd.
  15. It also does have objectivity pound-for-pound more Hulk than any other of these key issues. Superman at least is a hulky-boy, so that can count for at least a little hulk - but the rest. Not a single drop o' hulk!
  16. Thanks Mike. Heritage also got back to me today, they said they have reach out to CGC who are now reviewing the book / notes for any errors and shall know something by Friday.
  17. Yeah, that is my main concern so I take any record breaking sale from Heritage with a grain of salt. They have done this before, as recently as buying the highest graded copy of Super Mario Brothers themselves (and then advertising that it sold for a record amount!!!) and holding it until it will be re-listed in a future featured auction.
  18. In fact, adjusting for inflation the AC #1 sold for slightly more than the recent AF15. Nobody should be thinking that Spider-Man is the most expensive book in the hobby right now only based on a recent public sales, and seems that it's Spidey fans who just want to clutch onto the technicality of the high recorded sale to be on top for a little while (it's nice for fans to have their fun) even though there are many other books that would clearly sell for more (or have, but not publicly or sold years ago so they have to do math for inflation)
  19. SIGH...that dummy. He got back to me and knows it was a reprint he bought - but he didn't mention that in his emails to me. He bought the hardcover edition to get the reprint for $70, but he didn't say that and only showed me ebay photos of what his copy looks like and kept saying it was a second print. So crisis averted...he didn't pay a thousand for it and isn't totally bonkers. whew
  20. The physical manifestation of the marks this disappointment will leave on his soul.
  21. A summarization of all the text messages he is going to wake up to from me this morning: my new priority is now making sure he hasn't already sent it off to CGC for grading (which he loves to do with all his books regardless of value or condition...I keep pulling my hair out when he submits ragged 0.5 common silver age books that could be bought already graded for less money!)
  22. Oh sweet hell... guys....I think it was my friend who bought the scam 2nd print off Ebay. He's has basically been living vicariously through my comic purchases for decades now due to his costly family life, but has always wanted a TMNT #1 someday - I've been sending him GOOD decent deal links to buy them for years now (Just last month he passed on a decent 3rd print I showed him that was only $350 because it was 'too expensive') but then he just suddenly emails me today saying he bought his grail...and showed me the pics. Usually I get text messages and emails weekly from him with long lists of ebay links he is considering buying - which I have to vet and tell him are not great deals...but this time, no warning or asking of advice...he just pulled the trigger! edit update: He isn't totally dumb. He knows he bought a reprint, and he only paid $70 for it but kept talking like it was a legit 2nd print he paid lots for. Whew...at least that's one crisis averted.
