  1. Amazing. So maybe it was Luthor who released the animals from the city zoo!
  2. Did you know that the youths (sigh, I'm so very old) on twitter are actually arguing that she was too young to play the role, they thought she was in her late 20s.
  3. This is now the definitive version of the trailer.
  4. Well, I think I can pretty much safely cross off the mere idea of ever getting a 9.2 - 9.6 copy I've always dreamed of. I hope to upgrade my 7.0 one day, but looks like it's going to be a much smaller bump up than I hoped
  5. I think he meant the actual cover art, and I do prefer a clean cover (though in this case it would have been nice if the cover reflected the actual story inside. The story art and cover might have been developed independently of one another, which is something you see with lots of GA books resulting in a cover that isn't a good representation of what you find within). Also, most books were made with the assumption the reader has not read any of the prior issues, so that is why most contained backstory within for the many first time readers, so advertising it on the cover might not have actually meant anything to the kids at the time who didn't know who those two characters were. In the case of the CGC label, I think they should update the label since there is already a precedence set by Fantastic Four #6.
  6. Look back on the first page of this thread. More Fun #70 (1941) featured the first time two separate super villains (already established independently) team up: Wotan and Karkull, both enemies of Doctor Fate in prior issues.
  7. Nice, but alas over seven years after More Fun #70 and several other Captain Marvel team-ups
  8. Yes, we all get that there can be no ethical consumption under capitalism yada yada yada. Simply hand waving away any issues like this because "well bad things happen all the time with sort of places, and has been going on for years" is dismissive and downplays the idea we all can make informed moral decisions. Will I end up supporting some crappy companies, sure - pretty much impossible to avoid, but with the choices I can make easily I choose to exercise that ability to boycott. It's fairly easy to remain consistent with ones moral ideals when we are only talking about elective hobby stuff that doesn't impact my life.
  9. I will now, just as easily as avoiding PWCC after their fraud and shill bidding, as it impacts my confidence in all their other offerings. No skin off my back to ignore something I learn isn't in line with my own moral standards. Easy peasy.
  10. I think this collaboration, prior to starting the venture, is fine in of itself and is something that makes sense for any company to do. It's only with the other details & connections that makes it seem extremely shady. Wizards first was also an awful idea then as it would be now, so CGC doesn't get a pass with that one
  11. Excellent video, and goes into some great details (so you know, don't just watch 10 minutes of it before forming an opinion ). This guy has been doing some great work researching and disseminating the workings of ongoing lawsuits in the video game sector, so to see something of his have overlap with comics was very interesting (The info about HA listing CGC books for data points was interesting and I believe it, I've personally seen big collectors list and buy their own books for larger amounts - happy to pay the sellers fee just to help pump up selling a different higher grade copy later. Those guys were jerks.)
  12. That's easy...he did. The symbiot species, long ago, encountered a multiverse Spider-Man and found it to be the ideal host but unfortunately was severed from him - but to this day still retains some 'memory' of this long lost union (so hence why it retains some visual aspects of the costume but also forgetting others, and the split was obviously traumatic for the symbiot who might have even killed that Spider-Man). Or you simply have it that each symbiot in the universe can sense adjacent multiverse symbiots (much like how Nebula had a connection with her alternate self) and can pass information between each other, so one of em got their Spider-Man and that experience cascaded into all other symbiots. When this Venom meets up with our Spider-Man you can simply have him state "We...feel that we remember you...we feel as if we should hate you...we found you most delicious to eat!" Done and done!
  13. I would be surprised if the general population knew about his involvement in saving the universe. It's not like reporters and others were filming everything, and I doubt he or the majority of other heroes were giving detailed interviews on what happened afterwards. So to the majority of people it makes sense the idea they hold regarding Spider-Man comes mainly from JJJ/Mysterio.
  14. That's a super awesome issue, and while technically a month before More Fun #70 and filled with crossovers, I can't see this counting as an actual Super-Villain Team Up (Regardless of deeds, IMO Hitler was not a comic book 'super villain' in the sense that I'm talking about here. Maybe he is, but as far as DC goes it looks #70 is the key first super villain team up)
  15. Seems others agree with my above suspicion, Key Collector Comics has now updated their More Fun list to include #70. If I ever submit another copy of this book to CGC (or resubmit the one I already have) I'll be sure to include a note to have them update the label (if anyone else does this please post a pic of the updated label here) https://www.keycollectorcomics.com/series/more-fun-comics-3,6441/
  16. Yup, though more of a shame the book "disappeared" into that Jerusalem library once academia became interested.
  17. Yup, authenticity was especially questioned early on, but over the last recent years the idea has shifted away from it being an outright forgery by Smith (that is to say some parts have scholars leaning towards authenticity, such as the writing by Clement since all the evidence against it being a forgery has fallen away - for example the handwriting issues) while other parts are still hotly debated it is important to remember that no one has ever demonstrated any clear signs of forgery (and if it is a forgery, many in academia have said it is then the single greatest piece of forged scholarship ever - it is damn interesting.
  18. Jesus hung out with 12 dudes and sex workers, never held down a paying job so relied on freebies, got freaky in the secret gospel of mark, and has a legacy that resulted in his followers spending lots of time on their knees begging for him to come a second time. I see no conflicts here.
  19. Mockup, with proper non-neon bonkers colors (cause Ditko wasn't a fool, if he said orange and purple he was talking proper SA colors) So yeah, not that far off visually what we got and see him as - but striking enough to separate him from the iconic Superman color scheme going around. This could have 100% worked, and had it been the case and became the norm we would just be joking how unoriginal he would have been had they went with blue/red over this.
  20. That 'mock up' image in the article is certainly not a good representation of what was intended (it looks to be a recolor of a digital page, so it wasn't following SA color specs). It looks more like they are using magenta, and not a proper purple mix (R B) like below. Orange would have just been Y R2 (below) or maybe Y R3, which would offer a good contrast against the purple.
  21. How has this thread gone on this long without reference photos of the actual issue? Key points about this Marvel Age book to consider: - Darkhawk on cover (and it is an amazing cover, this is the selling point IMO) - Darkhawk preview art above series synopsis - 5 page preview, which does NOT contain Darkhawk in the story pages. At best this is the first appearance of Chris Powell (later becomes Darkhawk) who appears in only one panel.
  22. or we've all been bamboozled and what we are looking at is really Shadow Knight
  23. Also, in case anyone thinks there isn't precedence for this outfit in the comics and that it's totally new:
