  1. Seller: "FOR THE LAST TIME, I DON'T WANT THAT NUMBER....I WANT $3,000 EXACTLY!! UGHHHH"
  2. Yup, change is constant - especially online - however these big changes happen as a result of experience and seeing what is best for customers and the future (eBay change makes sense, they just botched the rollout of it epically). A NEW site should be able to look at what the bare minimum is being offered on these other competitors and start there, this is especially true for site searching when offering products - one of the most common aspects of a site that has had years of development and many great starting points are out there (so not being even able to search by year is a weird omission) Also, I think they might need to look back into the offer system a little more
  3. A new site, when launched should have already gone through an entire development site and testing, and should be a complete product when going live. Minor updates can occur, but major functionality should be ready to go day 1 if it is tied directly to the entire point of the website (especially these days when code in plentiful and template systems are there to build off of - this isn't like ebay launching for the first time in the 90s from scratch) The longest sites I've had without major overhauls (with only minor patches) have been anywhere from 2-5 years depending on what their goal was.
  4. No worries, I got that - I just find the first defence of any site is 'under construction'. There is a difference between improvements and basic functionality when launching a brand new product, especially functionality that is common boilerplate code. Search systems are standard, so it takes just as much effort to put a good one in place as it does a crappy one For a site that wants to entice sellers the commission is enough, but if they don't entice buyers as well with a great front end buying experience it won't matter how many sellers they get on board
  5. Going strong since 1998. You put it online and want it to generate income, you better have put on your big boy pants.
  6. It honestly looks very cheap to me (I judge LAUNCHED sites, so there are zero excuses to targeting comics, or any hobby, and having such poor search options). Also, a no go for me off the bat as 'There is no international shipping' (Shortbox is the same, but I know they are working towards opening up the app to Canadians so I'm fine to wait to use that marketplace, and at least their platform looks robust and populated with actual good stuff)
  7. Hard to tell, especially since this was an Ebay listing. Ebay recently restructured how the comic categories work and as a result it is very hard to find matching items unless they are correctly tagged. I'm finding right now many auctions are not getting the overall attention they usually get, and I think it is due to users struggling to see everything of interest.
  8. Yup, I was watching the 6.5 with interest since it is the closest grade to the one I sold (way back last September) and was surprised it didn't go for more.
  9. Can't nail that down exactly, as lower grade books are often bidding wars just to buy into it. At the very least it is 2k per full grade point (my 5.0 sold for 10k, and I think a 6.5 sold this week for around 12k)
  10. Well, I think I've officially hit the "no more CGC signature events for me ever again" date with my patience. Every other company I know would at least shoot out an email to paying customers if there are any delays or updates - but CGC seems is devoid of any such helpful customer service
  11. Should have had a notation of EXTREME TRIMMING ON ALL EDGES
  12. That is two years after More Fun Comics #70, as I'm specifically referring to the very first team-up between two established villains rather than a team.
  13. The MCU made comic book CHARACTERS cool to the general public, not the comic book medium itself. People didn't start picking up floppies because of this en masse, rather that money went towards other pop culture items. Comic books might have a better overall positive position in the eyes of the general public, but they certainly are not now viewed as 'cool' to read.
  14. More appreciation for classic Fate is growing (as it should). The latest clink auction just closed, and higher than I expected (a Universal 3.0 sold last month for $1,285, and the last time a restored copy came to market was last year; a 6.5 which sold for $1,100)
  15. I was excited for this before, but NOW? Now I'm flipping out as we have confirmation that arguably the greatest single issue of comics ever is going to be included (I was worried before it would be omitted in order to give more time to the main story). Good on Netflix for letting them explore everything they liked. My favourite copy of the book; The error variant, but with a perfectly bleached cover. I felt since the error was a lack of yellow ink on the first few panels (now coloured blue) it would be an apt decision to do the same to the cover and have it standout from my other copies.
  16. It might be helpful to look for artists elsewhere (deviant art, instagram), or at the very least also mention what your friends budget is for such a thing in case any are interesting here (as that will skew differently depending on artist styles and what work are you wanting done - full layouts & inks and colouring I assume?). I've had several custom re-imagined covers done for my own personal collection (I like to buy rare key books missing their covers and then make brand new better versions to attach - however I only get line art commissioned as I can do the rest myself) and can say it does get expensive.
  17. That price is bonkers compared to that Universal 1.0. I would take the restored copy any day over the other for that price difference.
  18. I've never regarded this issue as worthy of classic cover prices mainly because I absolutely hate that it didn't use the proper Manhunter blue faceplate - rather just some generic mask. It is especially egregious when you consider the line art inside had him with the correct mask, but it was then coloured to match the cover mask (red ink overlapping the line art). I hope to find a coverless copy of this book one day so I can make a 'corrected' custom of it for my collection.
  19. You must be using a Chrome based browser then, correct? Chrome will not load mixed content, that is to say Collectors Society site uses https, and since my images are hosted on a non SSL domain Chrome opts to just not load the images. I've been too lazy to fix this but will do so one day soon.
  20. Nope, but trailers are always hit-or-miss depending on the editor and footage provided to them. This trailer was more of a cast-trailer, so it didn't give us major story elements and rather focused on showcasing the talent onscreen (which is fine, but not something to get me excited. I'm still excited about the potential of this movies story through) and of course the "visuals". While it hints at us getting some fresh cinematography and decent visuals by Chloé Zhao, all excitement for such eye candy quickly dissipated for me as soon as it was clear they were once again using the standardized color grading process MCU loves so much (I really wish they would get back to shooting entirely on film as opposed to the ARRI Alexa / RED systems they use 99% of the time. Yes, Zhao was rumoured to have shot some of Eternals on 16mm, but nothing in the trailer is jumping out to me being that footage due to the awful levels and grading). However, this once again could be an issue with the trailers mix (crossing my fingers but not holding out hope due to all the past evidence of it not being the case)
  21. Of course, because they are lazy and poorly written, but that doesn't have to be the case here (again, this isn't something we can judge from this trailer at this point and it is pretty much pointless speculation)
  22. Once again, we have zero information on this from the trailer or the timeline of the movie. I don't judge a movies potential story beats by a trailer's trailer (fine to judge visuals and overall tone, as that is a choice made to sell the movie) We know from one run of Eternals they didn't have their memories, and thought they were human, but also it is just as simple to say they were at the battle with Thanos amongst that LEGION of characters teleported in (maybe not all of them, and they certainly didn't need to be all chummy with the rest of the Avengers to know what job needed to be done. If Howard the Duck managed to be there without having any big scenes then I'm sure a bunch of human looking Eternals could have been somewhere too)
