  1. Great looking copy, and with only a couple of chips. The few that I've had over the years were pretty heavy in the chipping department.
  2. Shows you how tight of a grader Payette must have been as he had graded the Allentown Cap 3 as only a raw VF+ copy. From the Pedigree Book article on the Allentown Collection, it looks like almost all of Payette's raw grades were lower than their CGC grades for the books that had been graded so far. Almost makes you wonder how high the CGC grades would be on the handful that Payette had graded as NM/M. Jim's still pretty tight. He's pretty much right down the middle with the occasional .5 undergrade on the SA books from him that I've had graded. I'm assuming that he grades technically without a GA bump figured in, which could be the reason for the discrepancy on the Allentown books, but that's just a guess on my part. Regardless, Jim Payette is a fair guy who knows how to grade books.
  3. I'm right there at 3.5 myself. Spine is too strong for a 3.0, but with that many color breaking creases, I cant see a 4.0. Not sure that pressing would have any effect. Nice book! Presents really well.
  4. Nobody has mentioned Strange Tales Annual 2 yet. The Kirby Spider-Man is a wreck on the cover.
  5. WOW. Congrats and great work. 4.5-5.0, no doubt.
  6. I think it could bounce to 4.0-and a pretty solid 4.0 at that-when you get the spine roll rectified. It's a 3.0 to me as is, but wouldn't be shocked if it came back 3.5.
  7. Congrats on the 1-77 run. Just awesome stuff there. Can't beat the cover on the 72. Or 55. Or 45. Or 49. Just......Kirby FF. Outstanding.
  8. That looks like a really clean copy for grade. Congrats on the pickup.
  9. Buyer to block: kmor5870 It's been quite a headache. Paid for book on Thursday 10/8. Book was sent Priority with Signature Confirmation on Tuesday 10/13 (Monday was a holiday). Arrived on 10/15, within 5 business days of payment reception. Demanded refund on the day the book was delivered (he signed for the book that day). Told him to either refuse delivery, or send it back and I'd be happy to refund him. This guy became furious over the inclusion of Signature Confirmation (I'm assuming because it made refund scamming more complicated). Has called me every name in the book, wrecked my feedback, called out my parentage and educational background, and refuses to close the dispute with PayPal and eBay, all with poor grammar and spelling-go figure. An absolute nightmare to deal with. PayPal is sympathetic, eBay is like talking to a wall.
  10. kmor5870 is one angry refund scammer when you don't want to play along. Killing her with kindness and trying to get PP as involved as possible, but it'll probably still end up screwing me over.
  11. Thanks for the info! My suggestion on the military base being the origin of the unique stamps was a guess, so thanks for the clarification. Glad you like the book........not only is it unique, but I wish I had a scanner to show how clean the book is. Brought down by a sub crease that only very slightly breaks color on the FC (it is more visible on the BC). Very, very clean, flat 5.0 with great color. Quickly has become my favorite book of my run.
  12. I love that stamp on the FF4! Me too… The star is large and the "3" very unusual… Wonder what was meant to signify. Coupled with the other stamp on the cover, which is kind of "blobular", I think it may be a military base stamp of some sorts. I don't know if the bases back in the day had newsstands or were supplied comics in a different way, but I believe somewhere in the past I have heard that base books had specific stamps vs the regular date stamp that most books have. So that's my guess on the "3", "star", and "blob"......
  13. I've sold a handful of books to Randall over a couple of transactions. Every time, he had great communication and was friendly and easy to negotiate. Super-fast payment as well. Would gladly do business with him over and over again. Thanks again, Randall.
  14. too much going on LRHC to go above 4.0. Nice book!
  15. WOW. Bound books can have a real charm to them, this one specifically.....congrats on the find!!
  16. I love that stamp on the FF4! Yeah, the stamps just give the book a little character. There's a VERY light subscription crease that's more easily noticed on the back cover. The front is hardly there, but does beak color eve so slightly. I'm assuming that the sub crease and the stamps led to the 5.0. The book checks out like a 6.0-6.5 otherwise. Really, really clean copy for grade.
  17. Back in the club after a LONG hiatus. Really happy with it, as it's a bit nicer in hand than I had expected, and is a strong book for grade.
  18. A couple of recent additions: I'm happy as both are very nice examples for the grade.
  19. Just my opinion, I submitted @20 books that I had recorded PQ from White to COW. The PQ's I notated as white came back that way. Several of the OWW came back as White. Most OW came back OWW, with a couple of stragglers that remained OW. I had 2 books notated as COW, both came back OW. So it would seem that the PQs from Voldemort are one tick higher that CGC. While that can be seen as a negative, I'll give them credit for being consistent with their PQs, which is a big problem at times with CGC. The grades on the books ranged from 4.5-6.5. My estimation is that the discrepancy would be minor. .5 deviation from Voldemort grades. Softer on blunted corners. Harder on Chipping and Sub Creases. Just my experience.
  20. The old school Stan signature is awesome. Looks "free", which is pretty cool in my book.
  21. David purchased an ASM 22 from me recently. He paid quickly and offered responsive, polite communication. Thanks for a great transaction.
  22. Exactly like Bob said. Transaction would be handled by the consignment house, end of story. They are your 3rd party protection in this case.
