I watched the first couple of episodes. Mildly amusing, but ultimately lacking IMHO. The animation superficially captures the look, but is a poor substitute for the Shelton/Sheridan/ Mavrides artwork in the strip, and the humor isn't as clever, even if the originals can seem somewhat dated today. Dropping the circa 1970 Bros into the modern age seems like it could have been an episode, but I'm not sure it is sustainable as a premise.

Just a bunch of old dolls that ended up at goodwill, because who collects that junk?

There are probably a few people still walking around who had a kid in 1938. Not many but more than zero.

I've seen surprisingly white pages with rusted staples, the same humid conditions that cause rust can preserve paper (as long as it's not so humid as to cause mold). I've also seen rust bad enough to migrate on the outside cover, but no where else on the book, as typically the most exposed part of the staple rusts first. I expect the grader's notes make mention of the rust, but it's one of the many areas where CGC sometimes falls short of mentioning critical information on the label itself.

Is this really a problem? In my experience buyers typically ask if they can wait to pay before they commit to purchase, even though I say in my sales threads I'm okay with waiting up to two weeks for funds.

So then TJ bibles are okay in the future, as long as the covers aren't explicit or naughty bits covered?

Does that pertain to just images included in the sale, or content not shown as well? I can somewhat understand prohibitions on showing overt sexual imagery (as culturally we've decided this is more offensive than excessive gore and torture), but including unshown content seems overly prudish. Is CGC planning on refusing to slab underground comics with explicit sexual content in the future, because I see quite a few on the census, including ones with titles you can't even use in the forums. Would threads selling these comics be yanked even if the books in question had been slabbed by CGC?

I used to have a low grade copy I sold for a couple hundred about a decade ago when I prematurely purged much of my collection of classic covers. I'm not sure why I sold it as I tend to keep classic crime books unless I upgrade. I guess I thought of Gunmaster as more of a hero strip than a crime strip at the time. One of the few books I've parted with where the regret is not just financially based.

As long as it is fully disclosed that the book is on consignment and not in the seller's possession, I'm okay with consignment sales. As far as rules are concerned, I'm still cheesed off that I had a thread yanked last summer with TJ bibles for sale as they were deemed inappropriate even though no naughty bits were pictured in the sale. What's next, underground comix? With ebay cracking down on such material as well (though much slips by), it's getting tougher to sell anything considered remotely "adult" due to sexual content.

Atlas seemed to make a habit of cramming as much text as possible into their crime covers, an interesting contrast to much of their war and western output. Gleason was just as bad in the late 40s with their books, which always struck me as odd since I imagine their initial success had a lot to do with the dynamic uncluttered covers their titles began with.

Considering a GD copy will probably run you at least 1500 these days, I suspected this would close around 20K with BP.

I love the stamp, and the PQ is sweet, but if I were the sort of deep pocketed collector that could afford to chase this book, the amount of rust on the staples would give me pause. I have and have had some rusty staple books, but I didn't pay a 6.0 price for them.

This thread brings back memories. As a little kid back in the 60s before I transitioned to Superhero comics, I read mostly Harvey books (and some Gold Key). Sad Sack was my favorite, but I read a fair amount of Richie Rich and Casper as well. I recall enjoying the Ghostly Trio stories the most in the Casper related titles. Gold Key faves were Super-Goof and anything with the Beagle Boys. My sister would pick out the Little Dot Uncles and Aunts Giants once in a while when my mother would treat us to comics, which I would read when no one was watching.

The ones near the mouth are pedipalps, or feelers, so more like arms than legs.

Maybe in the guy's face, as he has the diagonal cheek line from mouth to ear Baker used a lot, but not Colletta.

I can do larger ones in person at the bank, and have for things like buying a house, but that's the limit using online banking with my bank. It's higher for a commercial account.

I've seen some pretty crazy wrong back covers. I once had a Tec 225 with what was clearly a 1970s back cover taped on to the thin strip of what remained from the original, so it would have been clear to anyone that it wasn't correct. It obviously was done no earlier than the 1970s when the book had some minimal value, and perhaps not by the original owner, but hard to imagine it was done to deceive. Some collector probably just thought it could use a back cover and applied whatever loose one they had. It's no weirder than some of the other stuff you see, like ad pages deliberately removed, or colored tape run along the spine, or crudely hand drawn replacement pieces taped or glued to the inside of a cover with pieces missing.

I won a single book, but it was slabbed, so I'm not expecting any surprises. I'm still waiting as I paid by check, since Goldin is not set up for ACH or zelle payments, and my bank caps online wire transfers at $1K per day. Hopefully they will have better descriptions on their raw lots in the future.

What are considered to be the scarcest pulps? I realize there are some that are probably scarce, but demand is not really there, so I'm wondering about ones which due to cover or content would be more collectible. I've read that the Thrill Books are pretty rare along with some of the early Weird Tales, and esoteric stuff like Zepplin Stories and I'm guessing most truly scarce pulps would be from prior to 1930.
