GREEN HORNET #10 Apparent 2.5 cr/ow pages It looks like some small holes were filled on the spine near the back cover (see photo) Clear tape (archival?) in four places along spine on interior. Cover held on by two pieces of tape attached to first page. Mike Lancer, 1st and only appearance, a two-fisted private eye prototype for Mike Hammer by Mickey Spillane, who manages to kill at least 3 people in six pages while "solving" a case. $225 Now $200
  3. It may just be an attempt to raise offer prices. Something like this happened to me a few years back, though I forget the book, and it wasn't particularly high priced. I got a couple unsolicited offers, but wasn't interested in lowering the price, and there was clearly interest, so I relisted it a couple weeks later at at a slightly higher price, figuring if I got another offer it would be closer to my original price and the book ended up selling quickly at full asking. But after a year or so of still being listed, I suppose the argument could be made this isn't a good strategy.
  4. Tough question. A lot of great pulp cover artists had similar styles, especially over the passage of time for those that were around from the 30s and into the 50s for paperback covers. Baumhofer could look like George Rozen who could look like Belarski who could look like Saunders who could look like DeSoto, etc. You could probably put H.J. Ward in there somewhere as well, but his women all had a very distinct face, reportedly modeled after his wife's. I tend to prefer the traditional stylists above to some of the more individual artists that painted pulp covers, though I appreciate them as well. Brundage is probably my favorite of the artists with their own very distinct style. George Rosen is probably the most creative of the above when it comes to composition, and Saunders the most dynamic.
  5. Anyone else still waiting on books from the May auction? I've found comicconnect to be the slowest in terms of shipping wins in the past, but my check was cashed six weeks ago. I called last Monday and was told my order was in the queue. I realize NYC was hit hard by the pandemic, which could slow things, but even a "your order is being processed" update would have been nice, but nothing since they emailed the acknowledgment of the order back in May.
  6. Yeah, but mostly PCH content, so does it really count as SA?
  7. The Mystic is from 1962. "Collector's Item!" is the title of the first story, which was originally featured in Marvel Tales 119.
  8. Crime Suspenstories is probably my favorite GA run for stories. It may not be any better than some of the horror or sci-fi runs, but crime is my favorite fiction genre, and Johnny Craig is my favorite EC artist.

First page has some discoloration where corner was exposed, but it is not a stain. Hitler story. $650 SOLD
  12. About a third of the run is highly desirable due to scarcity, Hitler covers or cool L.B.Cole covers. This in turn creates interest in the entire run, which is a nice length to make an effort at completing once the more expensive high demand issues are acquired.
  13. Yes, sometimes those half-wraps are cut a little close to the margin in manufacturing and the staple misses the page, or just barely attaches it.
  14. That Strange Detective Mysteries is tough to find, and that's a nice looking copy!

  20. A recent pick up. As I recall, this and #19 were once considered "scarce", but they seem to be readily available.
