  1. Recently acquired as part of a collection. No problems with the interiors or other defects. FRONT BACK Thanks in advance!
  2. Thanks Torch!!! Been awhile since I put anything up in the PGM thread so I am going to put a few up in there for fun.
  3. Thanks! Yes, itching to really dive into it this weekend. Also, the "scuff" or "dirt" on the poster was just on the plastic wrapping and wiped off no problem.
  4. I know it has been awhile since I have posted (if anyone is actually reading ) but I am still in "waiting mode" to hear about some shows and the eBay store has been doing fine. Sidebar: I have not been as active on it as I would like since I launched the store... Between work, gym (yes decided to get back in shape, typical NY resolution I know) and other "life stuff" I have not had as much free time to dedicate as I would like but I think I have a good established routine now so that should help... ANYWAY, as mentioned earlier, I have been having a bit of a comic buying funk. Nothing of significance has presented itself to me in some time. Well, that changed tonight as I bought a fair size chunk of a customer's collection. He contacted me saying he needed to downsize and asked if I would be interested. Just proves that connections matter and make a difference! Here is what I picked up - Nothing to "retire" on but still a buy I am happy about. View from slightly different angle... The long box on the right is LOADED with Defenders comics. It is nearly a complete run of the original series with just a few issues missing + some of the newer series. Back row box is a box of New Mutants, sadly, no Cable or Deadpool and his Warlock collection...Missing Marvel Premiere but had all of Warlock #9 - #15 (Thanos saga) and the Strange Tales. Sadly, the first Gamora the centrefold is there but detached. The box on the left contained the Strange Tales/Doctor Strange (1st and 2nd series) related books and Namor, The Sub-Mariner and a few odds and sods. The FF book (first "HIM") is about a 4.5 and the Thor (first full Adam Warlock) is pretty nice except missing a small piece lower right. The Cat and Submariner #1 are pretty nice and the rest are all solid books. I still have a lot to go through but all bagged and boarded and organized so will be nice to really have a sort through. The other neat thing I bought was this Doctor Strange poster from 1983 by Kevin Nowlan. It is still shrink wrapped to the board. I was told this was in the display in the store where the owner bought it so I don't know if it is actually "affixed" to the backing board or not. Regardless, a cool piece of art and might help catch some eyes the next show I do. Other quick notes: Some nice Doc Strange Strange Tales books and nice Subby's like first Stingray. I know the Defenders has the first Starhawk, first Wrecking Crew. The first New Mutants and Legion are Canadian Price Editions, if anyone cares about that.
  5. And because I don't love the lighting or focus issues on the group shot... I may be late to the game but Man, I hadn't seen this for some reason. Absolutely incredible! x infinity
  6. I recently scored some from a second hand book store. In Northern Ontario. Marvel Tales #152 (reprints first Green Goblin) Marvel Tales #166 (reprints first Molten Man) Marvel Tales #167 (reprints ASM Annual 2) Fantastic Four #235 (Ego appearance) Uncanny X-Men #165, #167, #170 and #178 I never expected to really find anything there so it was pretty different find.
  7. Well, I finally decided to take a crack at launching an eBay Store. Have a look. I welcome any questions and will do my best to respond promptly. Thanks in advance for checking it out. http://stores.ebay.com/More-Fun-Comics-Emporium
  8. Still sounds like a great collection for a good price! I really enjoy following your journal both for the insight and the scores! Thanks for sharing!
  9. I finally used some "downtime" to launch something I have been thinking of for awhile...Opening an eBay Store. I signed on for the Basic Store to see how it goes. Biggest issue for me was finding the time to list books I have but I consider it good motivation to get on with things and now that I have it started, adding books should be easier now that it is up and running. I still plan on doing monthly auctions. Here is the "shamless plug" link for those who want to check it out: http://stores.ebay.com/More-Fun-Comics-Emporium I welcome any comment or feedback, constructive criticism and whatnot, just be gentle. Thanks for reading.
  10. I have no idea about video game values, but I loved, loved, loved playing Maniac Mansion as a youngster. I have not thought about that game in EONS!
  11. Telling people to PM you stuff for things you would get a strike for if you posted it publicly should get you the same punishment. I didn't open this can of worms and honestly I have no idea what you're talking about. Its clearly politics and if you're telling people that they shouldn't post here or engage Gabe based on his political or religious beliefs than yeah, you deserve a strike. Is it that hard not to personally attack someone on the boards? no. Says the boards' moral authority Jimmy Linguini, the kid who once yelled an obscene sentence to a female reporter on live television. Thanks for your insight. I wouldn't expect you to recognize something objectionable. Jimmy Linguini... Now, this got interesting. Where did he do that? See? This is proving my point. Which BTW I LOVE. You can't attack cgc board members for things they say or do outside of the CGC board without it being deemed a personal attack. This is gabes journal and you can't say "DM ME SO YOU CAN KNOW THE TRUTH" and not be personally attacking someone. An individual's character is based on all their public conduct and is relevant to any potential on board sales. Is that how moderation on the boards works? No. Gabe opened up this can of worms when he decided to share EVERY ASPECT of his life in here seeking advice. This journal isn't even about comics anymore, and to be perfectly honest, probably has no business on this forum. Gabe clearly has issues but he has been honest about them to a point. We've discovered he's on disability for something, he can't work and his parents get money from the government for letting him stay there. But he wants to run a comic business. Fine. Crapping on that is a personal attack and saying in a public forum that you shouldn't buy off of him based on his opinions or beliefs is against the moderation rules of this forum. We should all forget that though because he offended you guys. Get real. This is a very interesting "morale stance" to take all things considered. This is not all about "offending or attacking someone" - Every person on these boards have probably been offended and/or attacked by one person or another but that does not raise red flags for the broader community that they may not want to deal with them. The board is FILLED with conflicting personalities. This is a little different. A few reasons why people may not want to buy from or sell to him... 1) Gabe is on very, very shaky financial footing. By his own admission he was nearly kicked out over Christmas yet by some "miracle" he was allowed to stay and a good thing too as he had zero fallback plan. I know Gabe has claimed he would never "rip anyone off" and I believe he believes this, but his lack of motivation and/or caring about securing his financial well being is troubling on a number of fronts. I am not saying only buy from people who are "financially secure" but this is a person who willingly admitted he spent government money he knew was not his but because "he had no choice" or some other such excuse, spent it anyway. What's to stop him from doing that with customers money and/or not being able to ship books if his situation does not improve when the next crisis roles along? 2) I don't care if someone has political and religious views that differ from my own. However, if someone shares and makes bigoted, racists, sexist and otherwise offensive comments, yeah I care. Honestly, have you looked at the amount and what kind of he has on there? I'm just not going to knowingly support a person like that, whether they have "cool books" or not. I imagine I am not alone in this view. 3) It seems to me that there has been a sharp increase in religious "end of the world" style posts and the whole RFID chip thing of late. They seemed to start right around when he announced he was allegedly getting the boot from his parents place. Religious views are one thing but things are going full on doomsday cult. To me (and I am not a trained professional) added with everything else, does not make me think he is particularly stable on several fronts. I am not suggesting he be put on the PL or HOS list but he used this very journal to "promote" himself, the good and the bad - This is the result. At first I wanted to help the guy, then I got angry and annoyed with the guy and now I'm genuinely concerned, that despite what he says, there is more going on than a learning issue. Or maybe he is just simply not the type of person I would want to associate or do business with. Regardless, there is nothing more I can say or do so I am officially out and I hope Gabe gets some help and gets his life on track.
  12. I would hazard a guess that he is still at his parents place as he has been busy posting about the "end of the world" and sharing other not so nice things on his Facebook Page. About 8 posts in the last 24 hours. ...I think Gabe is starting to go "down the rabbit hole" on top of his "other issues". Yes I'm still at my parents and the "not so nice things" are the truth of what's going to happen whether you believe it or not. .. would you mind posting a link to your Facebook Page? It's incredibly disturbing and I wish everyone would read it before offering him any advice. Everyone should really evaluate whether they want to help this person. His page is filled with hate, conspiracy theories, and all around vile things. Juxtaposed with posts condemning others about how to be 'responsible' and/or 'live right' in which he can't see the irony in and "cutesy" My Little Pony and Anime . I think there is more than just "learning issues" at play, even more so now than before. There was an "uptick" in religious stuff around Christmas too, hence my "rabbit hole" comment... Gabe, you told me you had a counselor before...Have you discussed any of your "views" with her, motivation/job issues and/or what went on with your parents just before the holidays?

  14. Yes because they charged me rent no matter what and if I didn't pay they would kick me out. Well, to my understanding, you cannot claim to the government that you need money for rent if you are living with relatives....in fact, the government encourages you get assistance from family, before taking advantage of government services. Just my understanding, I haven't actually had to get welfare, although people seem to think that on themselves. I don't know the situation but this was a month before when my own money was running low and I have my own separate apartment. You have your own separate apartment and you're paying your parents for this apartment? By "apartment" I think he means "bedroom" or maybe his parents have a "rental unit" in their home. Gabe, your OW worker knew you were/are residing in your parents home though right?
  15. A very compassionate and well reasoned - Excellent post. I hope that this can close the book on the "discussion" and just let the process carry forward.
  16. I understand the reasoning for the above sentiment and I too would like to see Gabe STOP "dealing" in collectibles and get his personal life sorted out and focus on the really important things but I doubt that will happen any time soon, whether it be due learning disability/mental health issue, laziness or whatever. I don't know if or how he could be nominated to the HOS and it is probably not an appropriate option at this point. To my knowledge, the only person he has hurt is himself and he hasn't actually ripped anyone off. All he said was that he could have stolen (but didn't) and that he inappropriately used some social assistance money, which he is on a repayment plan and it is being taken care of through an appropriate administrative process. Based on his shaky financial status and other issues, is it possible that he could rip someone off or things could go off the rails in the future and have another "Chip" situation on our hands? Sure. However, I don't think we can put him on a list like that for an offence he has not actually committed. I also imagine that Gabe is on A LOT of personal "do not deal" with lists anyway...
  17. Spending money that wasn't mine? Yes it wasn't mine and I tried more then once to give it back and they didn't want it and because of that I had to use the money because at that time I had no other choice if you want to consider it low then go right ahead. When I told them what I did they didn't even care they just said they would work out a payment plan. Are you seriously trying to justify spending money that doesn't belong to you? How could any perspective comic buyer possibly trust sending you money, or anyone trust sending you a consignment, knowing that if they are not happy with their purchase or you sell an item for them, you might get desperate enough, and spend their money on yourself and not be able to refund them or pay them? Please understand this is a rhetorical question. Your admitted actions have already answered this question for you. While I certainly have no right to judge you, your actions once again, speak louder than any words you might say. I'll answer this for you. Yes I've spent the money that the government gave me and I already listed all the things I tried to do but you seemed to have missed that. I have received money from people multiple times and never spent it oh and guess what? I've had situations where I could have but didn't. Unlike others I don't hide nor glorify my mistakes I own up to them. via Imgflip Meme Generator
  18. My Amazing Spider-Man #31 CGC 7.0 that I won on eBay Christmas Eve and paid for on the 26th (so final 2016 purchase) arrived safe and sound from the seller today. New scanner so the edges are a little dark (still have to learn the settings) but I am happy with how it looks in hand. The wrap is pretty sweet and I think it presents nicely for the grade. Happy to add it to the collection and wasn't too big a hit on the pocketbook. Current issues needed to complete the run: #1 - #12, #15 - #19 #21 - #24, #27, #29 #30, #32, #35 - #38 Total issues needed to complete the run: 29
  19. My (limited) understanding of Ontario Works (OW) is that if a recipient is living at home with his/her parents they may not receive the "shelter" component of the allowance. However, there are exceptions, such as the recipient paying rent to his/her parents is a 'pre-condition' for a recipient to be able to stay at home. Again, I do not work for OW but just what I was able to read so I don't know if it is 100% factual...Regardless, the actual requirements and stipulations would have been established up by Gabe and his (former) case worker.
  20. Roy is grasping at straws because he showed exceedingly poor judgment in recently aligning himself with Chip, and all the collateral problems that occurred as a result (e.g., an expensive book I bought from Roy wasn't mailed by Chip because he claimed that he 'didn't have the money to pay postage', so Roy had to send him the funds - then Chip proceeded to mail the book to someone else in a different city and it was temporarily lost), so maybe he feels that he's being judged guilty by association?
  21. Voted. I never got a "good vibe" from Chip...It always seemed like he was using his family as an "angle" just like how he uses a pic of his daughter as his avatar. Regardless of the "root cause" of his "problems", whether it be a mental illness or him just being a , the result is the same, he has shown a pattern of deception and inability and/or unwillingness to live up to his responsibilities. He knows what is right and what is wrong. That is all that should matter.
