  1. How do they look in comparison to the image I posted? They look about the same. The issue wouldn't be revealed by a screen shot because viewing the screen shot will look just as different on my resolution as the real thing. For example, I've got this setup: Dual Monitors: Monitor #1 - Laptop monitor, about 17" at 1600x1200 Monitor #2 - 19" flat panel, 1280x1024 I can set up a browser to straddle the two screens and see a real comparison. I can do this with MS Word the same as the boards, and see the same differences. When I straddle the boards across the monitors, I see a font on the left (laptop monitor) that compared to a piece of paper print out looks like about 10pt. On the right (flat panel) it looks like about 12pt. If I change my resolution on the flat panel to 1024x768 (spreading fewer pixels across a larger surface area) the body content looks like maybe 15pt or even 16pt. In the end, your own personal setup is going to have a pretty big effect on how the font size is perceived. We'll end up setting this default template to something that's satisfies most folks, but the way you'll get your ideal environment will be to: 1. Adjust the font size with your browser (can cause some weird layout issues) or 2. When we get other copies of the style sheet up, you can choose the ones with other font sizes.
  2. I'm interested in how the quoted text looks to you. In my case, the quotes look about 8-9 and the message text is about 14 - visually speaking, compared to other applications. Quotes look about 9pt and regular body text about 12pt.
  3. Ultimately, we'll make some large-font and regular-font choices available as skin selections you can pick for yourself.
  4. What does that mean? The font on the front page, the forum headings, the thread titles, the quotes and even the post window I'm typing on now are ALL the standard font size. Only the message field has that HUGE font, and I am assuming that others can read all the other fields. Unless you're thinking of changing all the other fields to this HUGE one in the message? We can define the fonts in a number of ways. Pixel height, font size, etc. The message body is set to 12pt. Something about resolution and monitor size combinations is, I think, making it exceptionally large for some users but not others. I'm on a 19" at 1280x1024 and it looks about right to me. We'll get it tweaked.
  5. You are suffering due to your bizzaro monitor and settings. Not everyone is seeing it that way. We're working on this in order to accommodate the bizzaro.
  6. In progress. HOLY COW, BATMAN! THE PATIENT MIGHT LIVE?!?!?!?!!!
  7. Impossible. Because you hate everything about the new boards.
  8. Yeah. That's a bug. It should be retaining anything you select in terms of expand/retract and just keeping it that way even between page visits. Once we track the bug down it'll be fixed.
  9. I have seen the color scheme tweaks in progress... Like a shining ray breaking through the clouds on a mountaintop, they delivered unto me a vision of white backgrounds on post content, an increased font size, wider quote boxes and a few other minor tweaks that I basked in like honeyed sunlight poured down from heaven to warm my soul. I could almost feel the dark dismay vanishing from my soul like a layer of dirty oil skimmed from the surface of a tranquil and beautiful lake that would once again be tranquil and beautiful... and a lake. Although it probably won't be the whole list of tweaks today, some key ones should go up.
  10. I just noticed that as well. That very well might be the worst thing about the change so far. doesn't happen in my browser. boy, the guys at Ultimate Bulletin Board really did a -up job of cross-browser testing this code, considering it's been available since I believe March or so Mine seems to be working right now as long as I stay in the CGC Forums. If I go to PM or Water Cooler, I'll lose my unread posts. ... Tried flushing your cookies and re-starting? You'll lose unreads initially, but it might fix it for you?
  11. This one? What about it? (Besides it being squished like all of the other ones?)
  12. Raise your hand if you've read the known issues post at the top of the board? We're working on it today, guys.
  13. Sorry, but many of these problems will NOT be corrected, as it's either a bug or a feature UBB no longer supports. And most of us are NOT whining, just stating our freedom to choose whether to go blind or not. Which things were those?
  14. A bunch of kids? No sir! You do these boards an injustice!! Take it back! (duck/run)
  15. Should I go ahead and ban everyone who's volunteered for this list until I feel it's safe for you to come back? As a medical intervention to save your eyes, I mean? Just kidding!
  16. Oops forgot to post a big fat image to test the scrolling. Here's one.
  17. The changes marked here: http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=1786782&an=4&page=1#Post1786782 Will be addressed. Well, for me, almost everything about this new version is better minus the bugs with the exception of some color contrasts and a font tweak. WHICH, I fully agree needs adjustments and should be happening on Monday. But frankly isn't that big of a deal in terms of fixing it, so the heavy reaction is a bit much for me. Here's my list so far. 1. Threaded PMs 2. More convenient "jump forums" drop down at the top 3. Ability to attach multiple files to a post 4. System automatically "inlines" your attached images 5. Highlight text and click a format button, and it adjusts the highlighted text. 6. Faster performance - no it's not just the hardware and install. The new boards have an improved database structure and cleaner code base as well as more extensive use of caching to create faster page loads. 7. Improved ajax-driven post preview function. 8. Some nice new admin features, like the ability to merge two threads into one. 9. Better navigation. The drop downs (aside from the IE6 bug) are a big improvement. 10. Scrollable quote boxes and image boxes to prevent people from forcing a whole thread to scroll sideways with their excessive quoting or overly large pictures. Anyone tried that yet? Post a big picture like the one I have. 11. More posting icons. 12. Easier controls to watch a thread. 13. Better security and various bug fixes. 14. Cool drop down menus on user names in threads to offer a variety of options. 15. Fun little mood indicators on people. 16. Online/offline status visible in threads by people's names. 17. Easy access in the "My Stuff" menu to a list of your own posts. (Hint: if you post something and can't find it... try this before PMing an admin? ) 18. Better calendar layouts. 19. Cool new picture display in the user list. 20. "Active text" which allows the system to automatically create links to specified words. Like say, CGC will link without me doing anything. Or registry. Helpful. 21. The ability to create "sub forums", which I haven't used yet except to make a sub forum in the testing forum... Not sure what we'll use it for, but it SEEMS cool.
