  1. Believe it or not I bought this from a former writer for Warren and Skywald horror magazines! He partially inspired me to do my Horror Comics Review fanzine in the early days.....
  2. And I already posted this, but I have had it for awhile in my collection. It got me thinking about "well, this isn't recent , but..." So really, this one inspired me to do the thread and the poll.
  3. We have a thread for recent purchases, but how about those dusty horror tomes in everyone's vaults that have been there for awhile? Let's make this the place to post ALL of our favorite pre-code horror books, and talk about everything pre-code horror related in general. While we're at it...
  4. Great books I think, but the scans are so small I can't really make them out....
  5. "Seawald"??? Oh yeah, wasn't that the company that formed when Skywald and Seaboard merged! Just kidding, Blob! The opportunity was there and I couldn't resist!
  6. Wow! I still like those just as much as a nice 9.4, though! Nice burn on DC Special, or whatever the hell that brown circle is,..... someone loved those books and put them through the paces, huh?!
  7. aahhhh .... but loooks like HoS STILL leads by a few percents! All hail Abel! Goldie will protect your lead, old buddy!
  8. Can't allow that...guess I better fire up some shill accounts! Poor Abel... he deserves some respect!
  9. ...and that is an insightful opinion, Sid! I think as horror collectors we have been stroking ourselves lately over the prices realized and interest in BA the last 3-5 years. If the genre attracts the people you just described, THEN I think we will be actually experiencing a "wave" or "craze" or whatever. Time will tell...
  10. I'm guessing the whole term "craze" or whatever term you want to use for renewed or new interest in the genre,BA in particular, has maybe been hyped too much to this point in time. There has been interest in the area for a couple years, no doubt, but I don't think it's reached maniacal proportions as of yet. That's why I don't think we see key books slabbed in 7.0 or thereabouts. Not everyone is trying to cash in, because as you stated, $$ demand was only for HG slabs and limited to a few key buyers.
  11. Maybe the horror "push" hasn't been as strong as we have thought? Being horror collectors, we are wrapped up in our own little horror world. Does any influx of new interest in the genre always tend to seem like a "craze?" It is obvious DC BA has been the area of horror interest the last five years, certainly the last three. It has yet to reach the ignorant, blind frenzy ( ) of the 90's pre-code boom though, and maybe it never will. How many OTHER market reports were screaming "BA horror!" from the roof tops like Sulipa?
  12. I tend to agree with Jim on this. Like Sid mentioned as well, I only read the new posts that come out, and don't really ever go back to the old stuff. BTW -Jbud, that is a great HoM 290!
  13. Sterling, do you have a complete HoM run from pre-code to BA???
  14. I see the Pacific material already going for guide prices quite frequently on eBay.
  15. Jayman, very nice book! Harvey had some really great horror covers. That one has always been a fave of mine.
  16. I'd like to see some conversation on this thread, so I'd like to pose a question: "Do you believe Copper horror is the next BA horror?" If so, when do you think the "craze" will hit? If not, please state why.
  17. Nice books! A few I haven't seen before! Yeah, Twisted Tales is by far the king of copper horror titles IMO.
