  1. My initial thoughts were that it was not racist, but the more I looked at it the more I thought the possibility for that classification could be there. I was basing this on the fact they are portrayed as "savages" and the coloring used. Talk about Nubian! I had not considered the inter-racial violence aspect. I still would cast my vote for "not" racist in my final analysis, but in today's clime I'd thought I'd put a feeler out there for other opinions.....
  2. Glad to see you back around, Pov! This one was actually given to me for FREE from a dealer I used to buy from rather regularly. Probably the only way he'd ever be able to move it!
  3. I'd like to electrocute the guy who "reinforced" this spine... Overstreet notes used in POP pg89
  4. Moving on to Harvey, one of the better PCH publishers. This Black Cat 32 is a fave of mine, but for the life of me I can't figure out what the is supposed to be going on here.....
  5. Goldust & Paull, glad to know others agree that the Ace stuff is better without the word balloons. They just drip at mosphere, don't they!? Here's #30, the last of the run. At least they didn't try to drag this out in the post code world & let it go with dignity...
  6. 1954...the end is near for the booming horror comic industry & I imagine the editors at Ace could sense it. They are no longer editorially "hyping" each issue with unnecessary word balloons for increased sales attempts. The results are unexpectedly impressive.....
  7. Another BLUE cover! Not only that, Ace actually printed the issue # on this one. I will always remember buying this off of the "infamous" Ken Danker. Overstreet notes this as used in SOTI pg.111
  8. Dang! I hate it when I'm robbing graves & ...wait a minute, I JUST used THAT line... Look! A BLUE cover!
  9. Fire up the Nugent: "Cat scratch fever, der ner ner ner, cat scratch fever...."
  10. This one is probably the most recognized Lou Cameron piece of the run, hands down (no pun intended for once! )
  11. I've had multiples of this one... you'd think I'd be able to get a decent upgrade! Dang, I hate when I'm robbing graves and this happens! At least she's kinda hot, but check out dude's hair!
  12. They sure did! Hang in there though, I actually found one without said red or black that I will post later. Here's #3, wish I would have paid attention to the numbering when I started posting this run.... oh well... neat cover...
  13. The scariest thing about this one is the talking bird....YIKES! Overstreet notes this as used in POP pgs 81, 82
  14. Nice one, Scrooge! Here's 11, I kinda dig these covers with "cults" on them...
  15. Thanks, Jayman! Beyond #8, sorry I accidentally posted a bit out of order with the issues of this title...
  16. Thanks to all who PM'd me with congratulations on my recent engagement! These boards really are one big family, aren't they!? I also want to ad that some of you have hinted that you don't want to "interrupt" with scans of your own books. All I can say is, this is OUR thread, not just mine. I honestly think it would be cool for this to be the place for pre-code horror discussion on these boards. If you really are concerned about "busting " into my alphabetical listing, may I suggest posting copies of titles I have already covered but don't have? Which leads me to another point of clarification: the "Undead" part of the thread title has nothing at all to do with zombies. Many have asked me why I am posting covers with no zombies. The "Undead" refers to my hopes that this thread will not "die" easily. It is almost a homage to the title of the "Infinite bronze horror" thread, but I felt the word "Undead" would not be as redundant and was more appropriate for a horror themed thread. Post away, fiends!
  17. Giddyup! This cover rocks despite the word balloons. Woulda been cool if the place was named something more original than "Town" cemetery....
  18. Well fellas, I still have plenty of BEYOND that I wanted to post tonight, but there is a delay..... .....you see, as of 7:30 PM EST I am engaged to be married to a fabulous woman who likes to buy me horror comics as presents!!! Wish me luck!!!
  19. Notice here on #4 Ace is cluttering up the cover with word balloons. #2 didn't have this, and looked fantastic. This art in particular reminds of that old flick "The Hand" with Michael Caine...
  20. I have a heavy run of Ace's BEYOND. Here's #2, one of my faves. "The Shrieking Terror"...that sounds like my girlfriend when she gets her monthly "visitor"!!
