  1. Don't know what you are talking about.... you don't sell comics? seriously tired of trolls on this thread... First off, I'm not trolling whatsoever. What exactly do you mean when you say you don't know what I'm talking about? It's pretty simple. They literally pumped up Detective Comics #850 as the 1st appearance of Gotham City Sirens. Before Topher posted a thread on CBSI, it was easily found online and ebay for $1-3 a copy. Then he and Trey pumped it up around the clock for days on end, it vanished from ebay and now sells for $30+ a copy based on a false labeling of 1st appearance of Gotham City Sirens, a label they single-handedly created. Trey even said on their board, as well as the podcast, that this was one of the specs of the year. Well here we are now finding out there are at least 2 other books that are absolutely before TEC850 with the Gotham City Sirens together. Oh, and what does me selling or not selling books have to do with anything I posted? You sir are a grade A insufficiently_thoughtful_person. The post for tec 850 was made well before Trey's post about the so called " spec of the year" and it was one post in a G+ group. Trey posted about it some time after. If you are claiming that he pump and dumped 850 you better have some proof sir. Also show me where they pumped it around the clock. The reason it's the first appearance is pretty clear. The money stolen from Hush leads right into issue 1 of Sirens. Any other appearance by the three might be cool to own but has nothing to do with the Sirens.. I dare anyone here to find a single book where the narrative from GCS is in a book that predates issue 1 of GCS. Unless you can do that I would say Tec 850 is the winner. Topher made the post about TEC850 on December 14th. Trey ABSOLUTELY talked about Topher's pick of TEC850 as one of the specs of the year on his podcast. It's really simple. The first time all 3 are seen together in a comic book is Batman Adventures 12. The first time all 3 are shown together on a cover is Harley Quinn volume 1 #3. The first time all 3 are together as the Sirens (and named the Sirens on the cover) is Gotham City Sirens #1. So the true 1st appearance of Harley, Ivy and Catwoman as the Sirens is Gotham City Sirens #1. Put any problem you have with CBSI aside and explain to me how the narrative is not important. 850 leads directly into GCS 1. This is all I am asking. If seeing the Sirens name in print on a cover is all you need, I have a book that predates issue 1 of Sirens. But Tec850 predates them both. And don't forget to show some proof as to how they pumped it around the clock. I think you are also confused as to what Pump and Dump means. They would have to be selling these books after all this so called " around the clock " pushing of the book. Can you prove that they do that? Again please explain to me how the narrative from tec850 does not constitute their first as the Sirens. I don't have any issues with cbsi or the people there, and by the way you are coming at me and defending misinformation spread by Topher and their podcast, then I can only assume you are an admin at cbsi or a close friend to an admin there. If you continue to say Detective Comics 850 is the 1st appearance of the Sirens, you and anyone on their/your board is deliberately spreading bunk information and people should all be speaking up. Making the quote "spec of the year" numerous times and chest thumping about the "discovery" without any official confirmation from any accepted authority (and cBSi is by far not an accepted authority when it comes to deciding key moments in comics) saying that they appear 1st anywhere else besides GCS # 1 (which the story of the 1st issue is called "Union" as in they unite as an official team) is spreading misinformation and misleading thousands of people. All the while making healthy profits of all the cheap copies King Pump and Chumps scooped up in dollar bins while pumping the ever living doody out of Tec 850 at any chance they could onsite, podcast, site forums, and g+community. Its things like this that make them more and more irrelevant and the equivalent of shill site. Unfortunately cBSi could be so much more with a completely different inner-circle. When any book other than Tec 850 is confirmed as their 1st appearance, the walk back from cBSi is going to be hilarious. The "we didn't advise anyone to go out and buy it without doing their own research" schpeel will be put out in an article or statement on the g+ group. That's their out on everything especially on the g+ group where Trey specifically says don't ask for advice.....but then proceeds to pump out "advice" articles and allow mods to make statements on books which is thinly veiled advice. Funny how the mods can can do that even though its "against the rules." Oh that's right, Trey tells them what to talk about and put in articles. Conflict of interest much? All of that is readily found from King Pumps keyboard in HIS Top 10 comments section from 12/3/2016. Unless he deleted them like he has in past. If he did I have screenshots anyways. Find me one book that leads directly into GCS 1. Please. The lead in is NOT the 1st appearance of the Gotham City Sirens. Argue all you want, it doesn't change the facts. The 1st appearance of the Gotham City Sirens is Gotham City Sirens #1. OK so it's not the first appearance but it is central to the formation of the team and all the team members are represented? Oh and then there's the market deciding thing. But wait Trey convinced the whole market to buy this book with a few posts in a group consisting of a few thousand and a podcast? If that's true I might be inclined to thing some here are a bit envious and not so concerned with facts. Look man, I don't want to go back and forth with you but I really think you need to be careful when you make baseless accusations. If you at least can't see that tec850 is a Sirens key and deserves the value placed upon it I would be very surprised. No matter what you believe about CBSI's intentions they discovered a key book before anyone else did. That seems like sound research to me.

  3. Not grasping at straws here. Brave and the Bold 54 is the first Teen Titans. This despite the fact that the team is not named in the title of the book nor anywhere in the text. The team is also without one of their founding members, Wonder Girl, in Brave and the Bold 54. Look up the prices on that book for me one time. BA 12 - The Sirens aren't on the cover and do not function as a team in the book. They fight with each other in the book. Outside of being the 1st Harley, it's not the first appearance of anything. Harley Quinn 3 - The trio is playing grab on the cover. Who cares? They are not named Gotham City Sirens in the book and do not team up. In fact they specifically state they are not a team. Also the story is about a meeting of numerous female characters, not just the trio of Sirens. Catwoman 89 - First appearance of the trio as a team. Each member is introduced, nobody else. They specifically mention that they are a team and appear in more than one panel together as a team. None of the other books in contention can claim that. Tec 850 - Sirens not named. Sirens not on cover. Sirens do not appear together in same panel. Additional characters, like Oracle (not a Siren), are involved the scheme against Hush. This book gives a little back story to the Sirens current situation that is explored in Gotham City Sirens 1, that's it. This isn't the Avengers or Justice League, the Sirens is not some official team name with membership applications and dues. Harley, Ivy, and Catwoman are informally known as the Sirens. Nobody in the entire Sirens run refers to the team as the Sirens, nor do the team members use that label for themselves. Actually this is not true. The three of them have come together very rarely over the years in a team-up. 2 of them appearing is not the same. Appearing as adversaries is also not the same thing. I am with you until you get to tec850. The end of this book is what matters. The money going to the girls leads directly into Sirens 1. As far as story goes, it's about as important as things get.
  4. Well said. The only thing is that without tec850 there's no GCS. So if it's not a first but is a GCS key then I am very, very confused.

If you continue to say Detective Comics 850 is the 1st appearance of the Sirens, you and anyone on their/your board is deliberately spreading bunk information and people should all be speaking up. I am not an admin there but I see you continue to deflect. If you go hard at people and make strong accusations you should at the very least be able to back up those accusations. You accused CBSI of pumping and dumping the book with no proof. This is why I am coming at you. You give no explanation as to why tec850 is not a credible find and this is why I feel that you have your own agenda here. I will continue to wait for any reasonable explanation as to why the narrative from Tec 850 is not important to the formation of GCS. Even if the market view on it changes I still can't see why it's not a massive GCS key. You might then want to enlighten us as to why random appearances by the three ARE first appearances when they have nothing to do with the formation of Sirens as a team. If the movie was called Harley, Cats and Ivy: A three way for the Ages then I might buy into books like Catwoman 89. Again, all the reasons many, many people here use to note a first is happening with Tec850; narrative and market. Your counter argument is to make false accusations and then call it bunk information. Is there anything about the story from tec850 leading directly into Sirens 1 that's bunk?
  6. From the 91 series? yep Really grasping at straws with this and Tec 850. Just because the word "team" is in there doesn't mean they are the Gotham City Sirens. They have had many "team-ups" over the years, never called Gotham City Sirens until.........wait for it........Gotham City Sirens # 1 August 2009. Call them whatever you want before that book, they are not officially named as Gotham City Sirens until......again, wait for it.....Gotham City Sirens # 1. Just because they "team-up" here doesn't mean that they are officially named Gotham City Sirens. Everyone is trying to find something cheap to buy into because GCS #1 has blown up, followed by the shill claim of Tec 850. So it's on to the next one to hype up. Edit- I actually have NONE of any of these books and don't plan to buy in on any unless I find GCS # 1 in a back issue box for cover or for less than $10. Story, story story. Please explain to me how the disbursement of Hush's money is NOT important or a first. Without the Hush money there's no Sirens. Also they are never named the Sirens in issue one of the series. No character in that book uses the name Sirens. It's the story that's important right?

  8. For years all I have heard about around here is how important story is concerning a first appearance. Well where are the CGC forum stalwarts when a book like tec850 shows up to defend such an argument? If story is sooooo important for a book to be considered a first then please explain to me why tec850 is NOT the GCS first appearance. People here are confusing the appearance of the three chicks in a book or on a cover for the first appearance of them AS the Sirens. Again the money Catwoman stole from hush is essential to the formation of the team. Am I wrong? Please I am waiting for a valid argument against.

  10. 138 is the book, it shot up a while back until Savitar was announced. 138 is tough to find in high grade and it looks like he's going to be in more of th cw shows besides the Flash.
  11. You wouldn't happen to know what Image comic Gen13 appeared on a wanted poster as Genx would you? Gen-X was a precursor to the Gen13 comic series. Inside Image #6 - IMO, their 1st appearance. That's it! Thanks!

  13. Thane - absolutely has potential. New Avengers Vol 3 #10 vanished from shops near me a while ago Nighthawk (MAX) - I'm a big fan and was saying yes until that horrible new series bombed. Damn shame because his Supreme Power ones were so good. Elsa Bloodstone - definitely. Her mini series 1st appearance has been a solid "hoard and sit on" Mosaic - nah. They tried and failed with that one. Flippers didn't really bite I'll add Phyla-Vell and Hit Monkey because we never know what James Gunn is gonna do down the road. In case there's any doubt about if Hit Monkey is a FOX or Marvel property, he does belong to Marvel/Disney. One of the few facebook question posts of mine that Gunn replied to Did you finish the NIghthawk series. I thought is was one of the better series from last year and seriously underappreciated. I gave it 2 or 3 issues and that was enough to toss them into the junk box. I can do without the BLM bs For the most part I agree with you concerning BLM, I still liked it though.

  15. Well this is CGC's forum, if not here then where? Personally I love when odd things like this come up, just makes the hobby more interesting. Right. Just meant most other news outlets don't care about all that minutiae. It's first time Harry Potter is making an official appearance on a comic book ergo first appearance/comic debut. It's only here where you get heated debates about whether it should be labeled a cameo, 1st app, etc. Mind, labeling it a pin-up is probably the fairest and most accurate. Granted, I reckon majority of HP fans probably aren't even aware that you can slab comic books. The key word here is OFFICIAL appearance. Harry has other comic appearances. I see nothing in any definition of debut or first appearance that states the author of a book character adapted into comic form needs to be authorized. Go with Mystic 15. I could be wrong here, but I don't think he has ever been named. Not now, not before. I think you are right. Moore's version of Potter is my favorite.

  17. ? Now THAT is funny. For those curious about the actual history of things, and not just what people want to believe are real, the Wizard list was very much like what you see today. All based upon someone trying to make money off of comics, the truth be damned. In fact, thanks to early Image's horribly late printing schedule, there were times a book would appear in Wizards Top Ten hottest comics, when in actuality that book hadn't even been released yet. Publisher's PAID them to have their books promoted. It was probably the most gratuitous example of taking advantage of consumers' greed and stupidity to feed a publishers greed that I've seen in the history of comics. And it led to the market shrinking down to it's worst numbers ever. To think for even one moment, that Wizard Magazine's intentions were pure or honorable, is completely blind. They saw an opportunity to take advantage of the marketplace and they did so with cunning and precision, and unfortunately with a carless regard for how it would impact the industry and the hobby. This is why people see flippers as bad for the hobby. It undermines the essence of what comics should be about - the writing and the art, and instead turns it into a product, a commodity; something to be bought low and sold high for the sake of money. I'm gonna stick up for Wizard because they offered a lot of well written, useful content that had nothing to do with flipping. Massive print runs and poor storytelling did more to hurt the industry than a magazine about comics ever did.
  18. I'm surprised that uncanny x force run doesn't get more pub or value. Were print runs really high? It was the cat's meow for quite awhile. Then it just started to lose ground. I had no issues selling 1-6 as singles for quite awhile. It was a good read, but the re-launch didn't have the same group and didn't catch on. That series has everything going for it, covers art is great, writing too, Deadpool and a few of the early issues are kind of tough to find.
  19. Yup, like spreading misinformation, and... um... er... pumping worthless drek? I seem to be missing the greatness. Opinions are worthless unless they are informed and rational. There should be lots of resistance to garbage spewed under the guise of being an "opinion." On the other hand, the same holds true for "accepted facts" that have been pervasive in the hobby for years (often due to the increasingly irrelevant OPG), but are actually not true. There is no "back cover variant" for Star Trek 1 (to use a recently discussed example), no matter how many OPG editions or CGC labels featured that "information." Some people have difficulty accepting changes to their long-held beliefs, regardless of the obviousness of the truth. See Hulk 180, X-Factor 23 and a host of others....
  20. Ok, if membership growth of their google group is the measure of success I can agree with that. My comments are in reference to whether an "investing" groups success should be a measure of their ability to offer valid and profitable "investing" advice to its members. All I see from them in that regard, is a leveraging of their small but dedicated group of followers, to corner the market on small print run books no one cares about, while selling back and forth to each other, and said books collapse again within a year. Basically, its the blowoutcards.com, comicsheatingup.net, 1000x copies of Image #1s from DCBS, type guys moving into "big two" variants and "self-printed" variants. I have always been at odds with the quick flip herd/crowd traditionally seen as using bleedingcool.com as their main source for "information", which I have consistently called "bubblecool.com" for about 5 years. A bunch of them grouping themselves together under social media and running a website and podcasts doesnt change anything, just means they are millennials who are social networking savvy. I have always respected you Larry as a knowledgeable primary market person. I am very pro primary market vendors and recognize cBSi's ability to push store variants on to their "followers" and that it is positive for the originators of those variants. But as a guy who runs a successful business, you must be able to recognize some of the things they push (hiding connection between site and variants, listing their own books as top 10, claiming books are heating up with 0 or 1 sales data point) are detrimental to the hobby long term. Certainly counter to their name as an "investing" site. The more "new" people to the hobby that get wrecked in the secondary market, the harder it will be for the primary market to whether any future troubles. A lot of their followers are going to be bag holders long term, and many already are, but gloss over it by saying "you win some you lose some". Well no, if you chase after fake demand and over pay for snake oil, you just lose them all... There's a large majority on that page and in that group that aren't only interested in buying or selling the things you are talking about. Have they made mistakes? Sure, but from what I see they act fast to correct them. If their page was only about pushing store variants or the other things you accuse them of then I could see your point but they have people writing about much more that simply flipping books and it also appears they do a fair amount of charity work.
  21. It looks like the only thing heating up around here is talk about CBSI.
  22. why do so many people get confused, (or in past cases extremely butt hurt) in this thread, whenever an actual discussion occurs. It is not the "books for cheerleading thread" If the thread is called, "books that are heating up", then people should discuss whether or not a book is heating up or not. When so many people post books which are clearly NOT heating up, but which they either want to heat up, or others have told them are going to heat up, they should not be surprised, or shocked, or offended, that people might actually question saying: "are you sure thats heating up?" "here are some sales that seem to point otherwise". Ultimately, its either a dont ask dont tell thread, where people only cheerlead for books to go up up and away, or its a discussion thread about what is heating up, and that involves both sides of the discussion, for the books that are mentioned. Lastly, i wasnt scrutinizing the book, though legitimately curious WHY it was brought up in this thread (where it clearly does not belong). If you don't want to respond to my posts, don't. Please don't edit my posts down to the point of using them as a launchpad for your next monologue. Thanks in advance. Chopping someone's post up like that and then using to make some "insightful" observation is just plain lame . As a clarification on internet rules: if someone makes multiple points in a post, how does someone responding know which points they're allowed to respond to? Yes, how would we? If there were only some type of text editing controls. Sorry but credit goes to CBSI on this one.
  23. So should I sell now or hold? Also, what are tomorrow's lottery numbers? Potentially 4 12 22 28 35 54. Guaranteed to hit if Superman #204 becomes a $100 book. I would go with these...48 1 5 16 23 42
