  1. I'm pretty sure the variant (white cover) was a 1:15 That book isn't a variant of the one shot. Yep. The one shot didn't have a variant. Or none that Diamond's system shows. ^this. The white WoM Variant is for the 2010 ongoing X-23 series. Great book with a cool back cover! I don't like the boots.
  2. Jonathan Samuel Kent (White) 1st Appearance as a baby Convergence Superman #2 1st Full Appearance as a young boy Superman:Lois and Clark #1 1st appearance as "Superboy" Superman:Lois and Clark #8 1st Appearance in Superboy Costume DC Rebirth #1 Midnight Release Cover 1st Full Appearance/Story as Superboy Super Sons #1 later this year. You forgot the first appearance of Jon Kent
  3. Superman lois and clark 8 heating up http://www.ebay.com/itm/Superman-Lois-and-Clark-8-NM-Sold-Out-1st-appearance-of-new-Superboy-/262452995288?hash=item3d1b6ae4d8:g:Q3cAAOSwzchXRO8~ While people are buying this and that overpriced Lois and Clark Variant I'll be stockpiling the real first appearance of Jon Kent while it's still inexpensive.
  4. I must not sell my preachers. I must not sell my preachers. I must not sell my preachers. It's getting tougher with each passing minute.
  5. I ran around and grabbed most of those today...and Superman Clark Lois 1 and Convergence Superman...I think i'm covered. Is there something before those? Dc spotlight 1 1985 - first watchmen first dark knight If we are collecting Dr. Manhattan don't sleep on Watchmen 4. And his 1st appearance in Watchmen #1 You mean his second appearance right?

  7. If only my name were Gary. I wonder if this one comes with a certificate from CHU http://www.ebay.com/itm/Henchgirl-1-Ashcan-Copy-Beyond-Very-Rare-Scout-Comics-/111999992953?hash=item1a13b84479:g:2tMAAOSw74FXOo-3
  8. thats a garbage book, nyx 3 is the book to own. Its the X-men 201 argument. It will hold a value. It will be around a $20 book for awhile maybe even bump a little higher as NYX 3 keeps climbing. I am not sure this is a Retcon. To date I have not heard a definitive answer concerning this comic and if Marvel has ever explained. I have a vague memory of Wizard discussing the book but beyond that who knows. People like to discount the importance of this comic and yes no one should ever try and sell it as the first appearance of X-23 but it sure seems like a key book to me. As far as Earp, it's on the wrong channel. Put it on AMC and see what happens. ...except if a person actually read Wolverine 80 and is familiar with Laura's actual origin (of her creation) , they would know that the "X-23" on that test tube is just a coincidence and has nothing to do with her. -J. Yeah but no, cause if you JUST read the comics you'd have missed the interview with Craig Kyle and Christopher Yost where they talked about coming up with x-23. They where apparently sitting around talking when: 'hey whatever happened to that test tube marked x-23.." The idea that this is a coincidence is pretty hard to fathom, I think...I mean that nothing else happened with that test tube, and that it has the exact same name... wish I could find that article again.... I should have included that as well. When or if we see her origin will either dispel it or add to it. At the time when I read it I thought it was a plant for a later story. Yeah, right. Except ..... It completely ignores facts established in her origin book: a) Her name has NOTHING to do with a sample name. It specifically refers to the fact she’s the 23rd attempt to create a female clone (“X” refers to X-CHROMOSOME, NOT the Weapon X project). b) The sample she was created from was recovered by Dale Rice during Logan’s escape from Weapon X. Sutter recovered it from his corpse immediately after. There’s no evidence that Dr. Munoz was ever involved with the Facility, or that it ever passed through her hands. "X-23" on the that test tube is a coincidence and has nothing to do with Laura Kinney. -J. The rumors about this book don't seem to go away, some say no and some say yes. It definitely appears to be too big of a coincidence. At the very least the whole question demands further research.

  10. There's a good chance the guy who wrote the Tron article simply likes to write about comics and was looking for a category of books no one else had touched on. The guys over there probably aren't getting paid for writing articles. Yes there is a chance that some writer is loading up and trying to manipulate that market but is it really worth the effort to flip some Tron books that likely aren't going to set the world on fire? Yes I understand CBSI stands for speculating and investing but to those here who say it's a bunch of people pumping and dumping then you haven't really taken a look at the work. There are articles there posted regularly that have nothing to do with speculation. Until you can PROVE that a guy is trying to generate interest to unload his stockpile then I don't see the point in bringing up that argument. I see it here all the time and without proof it just seems like another way to try and denigrate a competitive arena for discussing comics.
  11. Yeah, that pretty much sums it up. If nothing is happening between the pages in these variants, then why will people give a damn about them 20 - 30 years from now? There are plenty of collectors who buy books for the cover art alone so this isn't always true. Plus there some keys... New Avengers 7-Squirrel Girl becomes Jessica Jones Nanny. ( laugh all you want on this one but there's a pretty big Squirrel Girl fan base out there.) Thor 617-First Kid Loki
  12. There soooooo many of these I think passing even in a dollar box is the appropriate course of action. A couple of the Great Ten members appear first elsewhere though.
  13. Was about to say, I dont think Stan does windows I did it a month ago. He had some questions because of the windows, so I pointed, and it was just fine. the nyx 3....suckas!!! maybe the owner of the NYX3 book had the window on her face Stan totally messed with that guy. of all places on that book... Considering her profession in this book a facial seems appropriate.
  14. Starhawk has already been debunked by Gunn along with Warlock, Mar-Vell, and Starfox. Squadron Supreme of today is a new team consisting of other members who had there earth's destroyed during the incursions. They all exist now in the 616. Namor has been the 1st casualty. Where and when was this? After all the articles "spoilers" about Peters father specifically being published on CINIMABLEND, MOVIEPLOT, and other various movie news sights. James Gunn went "on record" via twitter and denied any of those characters being his father in the cinematic Universe. I don't have the date maybe 2 months ago or more. Gunn also stated that there is one undiscovered clue ( to what I don't know ) that no one has figured out yet. Anyone have any ideas?
  15. Looks like shill bidding. I would prefer a Gwenpool Spider-Gwen version of this.
  16. I thought Jon Kent's first was in Superman Convergence 2? It is. But this is when he puts on the costume, I think. Yes, cameo as a baby in SC 2 No costume yet, but LC1 is first full appearance of the character "grown" into the age he will be written in Supersons. Most people, including myself, are not a fan of 1st app babies. I'll pass on Son of the Demon baby Damian, test tube X-23, and UXM 201 baby Cable. But those books you mention are all key books. They may not be first appearances but if I were a fan of those characters I would wan't them. I do agree though, there are better things to collect than babies.
  17. I thought Jon Kent's first was in Superman Convergence 2?
  18. All thanks to spec sites hyping it and *cough* a tv series in the works ? *cough*...... I think it's more the tweet from the head of Scout Comics where he said Henchgirl tv news soon being reported more so than it being simply "hyped" Kyle. https://comicsheatingup.net/2016/04/02/henchgirl-tv-news-soon/ 2500 copies! I ordered 3 for my little shop.... I'd like to know the print run on the self-published issue 1.
  19. All thanks to spec sites hyping it and *cough* a tv series in the works ? *cough*...... That low print run could have something to do with it
  20. Awesome. Like I said I was not aware of what specifically (if anything) lead to its seemingly prompt uptick in interest. I agree it is a very high quality book. Okay, I had the wrong "investment" site, but this is the link that caused Monstress to take off (even before it started getting talked about here): http://investcomics.com/weekly-hot-picks/investcomics-hot-picks-401 It references a previous Hot Pick blog from October 29th: http://investcomics.com/weekly-hot-picks/investcomics-hot-picks-396 Notice the original blog says no copies were on eBay. That original blog came out before Monstress was released on November 4th! Of course there were no copies for sale on eBay. Misleading? Seems so to me... I remember checking eBay when that 2nd blog was posted, and sure enough, Monstress #1 was available for cover price or less. Within days, those copies disappeared. High quality or not, the simple fact is, nobody cared about that comic until that investment site posted about it. Then it sold out very, very quickly. I'm not disputing if the comic warrants the speculation or not. Just saying that is an example of a comic that was hyped on an investment site first, then people became interested using the misleading information that no copies were for sale on eBay. And the reason I remember this, I pointed out back then that this site was manipulating the market for this book. Every new book is featured by these sites now. Just so they say they can told you so. Several of us cared about the book right after we read it. I went back and bought 3 copies at my LCS as soon I read it. Let me tell you it was tough to find nice copies. Every new book is speculated on now. People have disposable income and they are buying 50 copies at a time for some of these books easy. They aren't going to tell you about the ones they lost on. The speculation sites are the same way. Was their some manipulation? Probably its impossible not to have some. But honestly the people saying the like the book aren't people involved with these sites for the most part. The manipulation on raw is much more time consuming then slabbing for them. Its also risky because its easier to get caught. Some of have been thru this before. The card collectors will go away again just like they did last time or they will go broke either way it will settle out in a few years when the movies burn out. By now if you listening to boardies that have been here less then 2 years or so you better know them well. Just urging some caution because no one else will. I think we need another Sixth Gun situation to thin the herd a bit. I remember that. People were driving hours to go to Hastings stores trying to buy all the back issues, etc. I'm glad I never got caught up in the hype. I had one copy and sold it for $20 less than I paid, so I guess I was lucky. Sixth Gun . . . I have to give it to Bunn, pretty awesome book. I enjoyed the Damned too.
  21. You know one of your favorite sources of information is a card collector who got into comics because of DC's 3D cover marketing gimmick, right? There is a difference between noticing an existing market trend and creating a market trend by selling the internet on a book through blog posts that may or may not use accurate information as a reason to "invest" in a book. Got any examples of this from CBSI? Monstress. That book was out a month and found for cover price on eBay before a posting on CBSI got people interested. So are you saying that CBSI inflated Monstress or was it good writing, art and a modest print run? Did CBSI use inaccurate info to trick a lot of people into buying into Monstress? There's a big difference between identifying a winner and hyping Black Acre.
  22. Credit to CBSI on that one Why is anyone deserving of credit other than the creators? Sorry I'll fix it... Credit to CBSI for recognizing that this book might see increased interest on the back issue market based on the contents. This is a forum about comics that get hot and sell at auction no? I'm sure the creators got plenty of Kudos from fans and coworkers when the book came out. I personally didn't feel your post needed to be fixed. It just strikes me as odd to see speculators take or give credit in regards to a certain book or character. To me any work deserving of credit was done by the creators, not some speculator who stated some early or first appearance may heat up soon. That's like shooting fish in a barrel nowadays. I don't visit any spec sites so I can't comment on who said what and have zero favoritisms in regards to any spec sites or groups. As Awe has pointed out the said credit may be fitting for a thread such as this though. Just seams weird to me is all. Hey man can't a kid be a speculator and a collector? I just don't like seeing someone post something here as if they were the first to mention it. Don't deny that many, many people who frequent these types of communities love to be the first to mention a book. There's nothing wrong with it and I don't think we need to give specific credit to a person or page just don't act like you discovered something when the info was clearly gleaned from another source.
