  1. Since we know @Bird will have an awesome score and while waiting until he gets around to sharing, I'll fill the time with something unusual that I purchased with a small collection a few months ago and only recently got around to processing and noticed the uniqueness of the book. Sunset Carson, published in 1991 and signed by his wife, Jeane 'Mrs. Sunset' Carson in 1993. She wrote extensively in the book and the photos are only a smattering of what she wrote. The guy I purchased it from didn't make any comments about the book, so I overlooked it when I was going through the books initially.
  2. instead of starting a new thread, i thought i would post here (plus, if you're interested in artist editions, you'd probably be interested in the 'art of...' books). Humble Bundle has a deal of Top Cow digital books (DRM free - .pdf's, etc) that includes the Art of Marc Silvestri, Art of Witchblade, and Art of Rahsan Ekedal (of whom, I have one of his covers that is in the book ) all for $15 minimum donation, a portion of which is being contributed to charity. There are many other Top Cow digital books in this bundle, including the Darkness Compendium volume 1 & 2 and several sci-fi titles that I am a fan of and have been buying the monthly books. https://www.humblebundle.com/books/the-darkness-sex-scifi-books?hmb_source=humble_home&hmb_medium=product_tile&hmb_campaign=mosaic_section_1_layout_index_3_layout_type_twos_tile_index_2 I've posted about Humble Bundle before; I am a huge fan and have made many purchases and contributed to their many causes, such as CBLDF.
  3. Thanks; not the one I'm looking for (It was more focused on symbology of plants, IIRC), but this book looks interesting
  4. Serious question – what was the title of the symbols in art book? I’ve been looking for a specific symbology book but can’t remember the name.
  5. Star Stream 2 Cover painted by Alfred Jarnow From the same issue, 1st page of 'Last Voyage of the Albatross' story with art by Al McWilliams Edit: I know the examples I've shown aren't from the same artist, but they are from the same issue
  6. I don't collect commissions either, but I can double the number of Valiant images in the thread X-O Manowar 1 variant cover by Bob Layton From the same issue, art by Tomas Giorello Edit: I know the examples I've shown aren't from the same artist, but they are from the same issue
  7. Bravo, I had thought you had both pages. Memory slightly betrayed me, I thought the 'gaze into the face of fear' panel was immediately preceding. Still, one of the best panel sequences ever!
  8. The top panel (combined of course with the previous panel set-up) is one of my most favorite panels in all of comicdom; always happy to see it
  9. Thought the thread was about characters with no codename like Nick Fury, Amanda Waller or Kitty Pryde (although Claremont did try a few names every few issues in the beginning)
  10. In the ‘hate’ category - I don’t spend time listening to podcast where a significant amount of time is everyone laughing at inside jokes. The best podcasts have a good conductor to keep the conversations moving along and minimal time spent on the silly stuff. That being said, if the guest (or story) is good or compelling, then its sometimes best to let it ride. At any rate, good luck; I'm always interested in searching out new comics podcasts
  11. He‘s only been super-nice the times I’ve interacted with him, but I did see him turn into a surly grampa when a con-management gofer accused him of not paying his table fee.
  12. I have a buddy who loves to be provocative & he’ll rile Neal Adams with his line of questions and of course Neal goes off on injustices of the industry, how he doesn't get the credit he deserves, etc. Not my style of interacting with a creator but fun to watch.
  13. I've looked into/purchased a few complete stories and this is my observation as well. My 2 cents is that having a complete story makes owning the OA more attractive (i.e. a package deal) but probably not more valuable considering the sum of its' parts. As an appreciation of the art & story, however, it is way cooler reading a story in OA format than in a published book.
  14. Excited for this too. I'm interested on if/how they’ll tone down the content. I think there’s enough content to stretch this to multiple seasons if they'd like, but i can see some arcs being cut or streamlined to make it fit into 8 parts - the trip to Russia, for example (although seeing the Love Sausage make an appearance would be hilarious).

    Guilty...

Alan Moore Swamp Thing. I own the books, just haven’t made the time commitment
  16. Thanks! both of these are within a mile of where I'm staying
  17. Any cool shops worth visiting? I’m sure I've seen a thread on this before, but couldn’t find it. I have a bigger trip planned that’s pretty full, but there’s one whole day in Paris that I can explore (i.e. my wife is planning on shopping)... any LCS recommendations? If they have comic art, even better
  18. I love J Buscema breakdowns for this reason. With just a few lines, tnis Conan panel conveys SO much
