  1. I've made some colossally bad and embarrassingly good transactions from my collections in the past. It comes with the territory and they all make for memorable recollections, with hopefully many more to come. I continue to reinvest a small percentage of any lucrative proceeds back into my interests, including original comic art, for better or worse. David
  2. Seller's other items indicate an aviation buff who resells at the higher end of market, and has added that piece to his "store" without expectation of an immediate turnover. I have that "Mosquito Squadron" movie poster, and haven't noticed a big uptick in the market pricing for it to where his ask is. Seller has sold some movie posters and aviation illos recently. Flip? No, IMO. Just having fun repurposing some hobby money. David (having fun searching on the internet)
  3. LINK TO 19 THE SAINT PULP DIGESTS Ends soon, check it out! 19 copies of The Saint from 1954-1956 in nice condition. David
  4. They are about 11 X 15" on illustration board. One has the Bainbridge stamp (Waters Of Earth), one has a Bell sticker on reverse (the "Sun" one). David
  5. LINK TO EBAY ODD THINGS AND NEW Hi, I've started an auction where the winner chooses from four different "Odd Things And New" panels from 1932 by Lame Bode for Bell Syndicate. Tell me what you think! Best, David
  6. Sounds like you already have a decent handle on the possible outcomes lurking in your future. Walls can fill up fast. I have enjoyed the research associated with artist attribution, character histories, publication timelines, and the like, for comic books and related artwork, along with eventual trading with other collectors as a small-time seller, as a way of scratching the itch of steady acquisition for the sake of it. Good luck to you on your journey! David Eek And Meek Howie Schneider
  7. My Image Composite Editor created this weird panorama mash-up piece once that I saved just for fun. Romita/Giacoia. David
  8. Hi, It was just information for the Captain Britain run, if anyone was searching about Super Spider-Man 231-253 like I was. You notice ASM 167 and 168 covers were not reprinted for the UK in that run. Similarly, as you point out, some (many, due to the frequency) UK covers did not see publication in the US, though using the same artist stable. 232 cover ...edit...Lieber/Giacoia shown. Best, David
  9. Hi, Since I have an original art cover from this series, I was curious and discovered there are other covers that appeared both in the US and UK around the same time with slight alterations. I compiled a short list using comics.org for anyone else who may be curious like I was! Best wishes, David Super Spider-Man And Captain Britain Cross-published UK Variant Covers 233 Spectacular Spider-Man 3 236 ASM 165 238 “ 166 240 Spec. 10. I've found over the years that garden-variety prints will fade pretty fast, as will markers, even with only indirect daylight/edison exposure, with reds being particularly fugitive. Even good paper will tone with the same exposure, going to cream or more over long periods if that is a concern for you with OA. I have old pigmented ink OA over 100 y.o. hanging that is still bold, but the paper can degrade, with exposure likely hastening that. Solid color gouache should hold up in a similar fashion, you should probably take extra care with watercolor or washes. Zipatone and other attachments will also show their bones more readily with exposure. David See first pic, a comic I had displayed under glass, vs. a stock photo.
  11. Mighty Hal said..."Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate it today!" Agree, best wishes to the collecting community, we are cooking our bird tomorrow since our youngest is making computer chips today (holiday pay, yay!). Sincerely, David S. Albright

  13. $150 to start. Check it out! 8 pages of comic book art from the Brazil studio of Jaime Diaz (Batman, Disney) featuring Little Lulu's "Tubby" in a wild complete story with bananas and alligators. Text (directly on page) is in Portuguese. About 10 X 15 art on on Editora Abril house stock. David LINK TO BOLINHA (TUBBY) 8-PAGE STORY AUCTION ON EBAY
  14. In this case, you were exactly correct.
  15. Bump for closing at 5 PM Eastern Time today Tuesday 11/16/2021. I'll take $650 for this book. Thanks for your interest, I appreciate it! David
  16. Since you ask, and things are quiet enough around here nobody will object to this OT diversion, my approach as an OA "dealer" has been largely through eBay (since 1998), this site's Marketplace, and CAF. A handful of pieces per year at best. I've consigned maybe three pieces to Heritage, that works, too. An occasional local show (pre-covid) or yard sale, but OA generally gets lost locally or severely underappreciated. No Facebook presence as a seller, nor Instagram or Youtube or similar. Works for me, as I am not looking to raise my profile or activity level. Hope this helps, PM me if you want. Best, David
  17. Interesting. When I was first described as a "dealer", I was a little taken aback, not having thought of myself that way. But, the reality is, once you start selling, you enter that world of judgment and opinion about your behavior, so I have always tried to be respectful of buyers and aware that their expectations might be in that context. Even though I think of myself as a small-time hobby enthusiast/trader. David
  18. I continue to use eBay (selling and buying), not exclusively, to reach those buyers and sellers who may be found there when I otherwise possibly would not connect with them. Doesn't hinder my efforts to find a buyer or seller any where else in a broader search, including here, Site-specific rules, guidelines, and fees are everywhere, Facebook, Craigslist, Paypal, CAF, auction houses, shows, etc. Just a way of life to be dealt with in the process of connecting with a fellow collector. David
  19. Agree, a bit of a stretch, there. Rather, those dealers set their prices for their market, many different business models out there, one size does not fit all. (Theo, Donnellys, Rogofsky, Felix, Rozanski anyone?) Plenty of room for all collectors to play and trade on whatever terms they choose, hopefully within the limits of common decency and fair play. David
  20. szav said...."Yeah not shockingly the Holliday Thursday night auction went under the radar" made me go look, since I did not preview or attend that auction. Hmmm...seemed to me like prices were strong for a single-character/artist event with known widespread availability of the art. imho, David

  22. Bump for final day, your best chance to claim this nice published Jaime art! David Now relisted! David
  23. Just picked up this final DC mechanical cover from Mark at "Then It Rained Comics" previously seen a few years ago in HA auction. Mister Miracle #4 (1989) by Ian Gibson. The only art is some added lines around the bottom of the main image, but I liked the period trade dress and the fact that it is the final shot cover for the book! David
