  1. I wouldn't even call the first piece close. WAY too many things wrong with it. 1. Charlie Brown's hand and tongue. 2. No brim on Linus' hat. 3. Lucy's feet. 4. Sally's eyes and hands. 5. Schulz would never detail a wall like that. 6. Snoopy's foot with the shading. 7. Marcie's mouth line. These are just the ones that jumped out at me immediately. Someone went to great lengths to deceive here what with the stamp and all but the quality of the "drawings" leaves no question that they are all absolutely fake.
  2. A lot of Gold Key books were tied in with TV shows. I suspect that in some cases, by the time licences were obtained, artists/writers found etc etc the show itself had been cancelled hence one and done as far as the comic went. In a lot of cases, the covers were outstanding but the interior art left a lot to be desired or the comic stories weren't as good as the TV show stories.
  3. There is no paper cover version of the Turok book.
  4. Nah...it's all about the sophomoric and double entendre humour...intended or otherwise...
  5. Re-read the original question which I think I understand now (). The comic itself came out in the Silver Age of comics. An auction house using the term "1st Modern Age appearance" is not referring to the Modern Age of comics but rather a period in history and its proximity to today. At least that's the way I'd interpret its use in this case.
  6. Proving once again the no CON is safe from the Leader's attendance!!!!! Another GREAT report! I always enjoy the Leader's great work providing photos of cons that most of us never get to attend - keep up the great work.
  7. "Check must clear before art is shipped."
  8. Click on "Reply to Doc Joes Journal" in Gotham Kid's post 4 up - that should do it...
  9. Does that amount include the SDCC "premium" though?
  10. There are probably some out there secretly waiting for the return of Theo...
  11. I don't understand your question but in a nutshell the two Clayfaces in question are not the same character - they just have the same name...the first one first appeared in 1940 or so (Golden Age) and the second, as you noted first appeared in 1961 so it's silver age.
  12. Posting pics might give someone here a clue as to the era in question. Additionally, you can go to Grand Comics Database - a terrific reference tool.
  13. The buying ad on page 1 of this thread mentions "Marvel Mystery Comics 1 Labeled Number 2". Does this actually exist??
  14. Wrong forum. You need to be in the Original Art forum...
  15. Great photo. Looks as if Franks's cat is wearing the same expression as he is.
  16. It was reprinted in Mr. Monster's True Crime...
  17. Right...which is why I'm calling "fake" unless someone can come up with an actual photo of the book in hand...
  18. Although I'd argue that slabbed comics are the new stamps...
  19. The non-logo version bears an uncanny resemblance to the image appearing in the now defunct Batman Chronicles () I notice numerous differences between the non-logo version and the two verified versions... Interesting that the source for the photo says that the 15 cent version is the rarest of the three...
