  1. It's so cool that you posted this thread. Marjorie was on the faculty at my grad school a couple of summers ago. She was so nice! I didn't know she had a new book out!
  2. I remember when I was first getting into comics a few years ago. I've always been an ASM fan, and I picked up on the Lizard run (I want to say 687, 688, etc.). If I recall correctly, Campbell was the only one who did variants for those issues, and I bought some because I liked the idea of building a variant collection. I think those were fine because it was just one main variant. But like someone said earlier, when ASM #700 came, there were tons of variants for each issue, and that seems to have continued today. I can understand special covers for special issues, but now it feels like every book that comes out has a variant "just because." The one thing I still hate about first getting into comics was not buying the Campbell #688 variant for like $40 when it first came out.
  3. Thanks for answering my question! I had a feeling that was the reason, but it seemed odd to me that it is substantially more than the first print.
  4. Which of the 25 variants (or so)? The print run on 100 is enormous. There's really only 1 of the 25 variants that people will want..and that's not including the 2nd print. The SDCC has really never worked up much love from people. 355k split amongst the variants is not that many if you focus on 1 cover. Would love to know where issue 100 is floating around in $ bins. Why are the 2nd prints selling for so much more?
  5. This was the biggest thing that aggravated me right from the beginning. You can't have that scene in the mid-season finale and then just gloss over it like it never happened.
  6. I've been out of comics for awhile aside from reading ASM. Nowhere Men was one of my favorite titles when it came out, and I would buy every issue, print, etc. in 9.8. I was obsessed. I'm glad it's coming back, but this time it'll be only to read and not collect.
  7. Even though you didn't state the condition in your agreement, it seems he set his own payment date when he said he was pay three days ago. Shouldn't this count as him breaking his own conditions?
  8. Okay, I wasn't sure. When he said Avengers 1, I figured it could be a first issue from one of the modern series, not the silver age, of course. That's what I thought too.
  9. The PIF has been moving pretty well the past couple of weeks. If more people would participate, it would be ever better.
  10. Man, I really hate that happened. Thank you for coming on here and posting his username.
  11. That's why I like my books slabbed too. The protection, especially for the older books is a nice benefit. Just like you, I like that it has a notation of 1st app, etc... One other great thing is restoration detection. I don't trust myself at all when it comes to older books. I've never had a raw restored book, so I don't know what to look for. It's nice knowing a book isn't restored (even though it's not 100% correct all the time ).
  12. How did that happen? The threads were moved after I woke up. Did somebody post something in there?
  13. The list can be sort of deceiving, though. As I stated a few posts ago, I posted a RAK after I claimed one. My RAK went unclaimed, so it was removed from the list after a week. So it's hard to tell who offered what and if they did.
  14. I agree with Kav. There will always be people who claim more than others, but I don't see a huge problem unless they're just snatching every offer up right when it's posted. But if a RAK sits for a couple of days, I don't think it matters who takes it.
  15. Very true but if all you do is take and never give the thread dies, true. The nature of the thread should be to give more than you take. Just my take on it. I've taken one RAK, and posted a RAK the same day. It didn't get taken, but I tried.
  16. I wonder if there is a way we can keep the RAKs consolidated to one post? I know Harvey doesn't need the trouble of updating like he once did, but there has to be a way for the community to keep up with what is still up for grabs.
