  6. Hello All, We had a Virtual Comic Con here on the boards a month or so ago - in that Con, I offered up some sweet motorcycle cover books to the convention attendees. Normally, I bring what's left over to a general sales thread right after the convention closes...but November turned crazy! So, here they are, a few weeks "late" - hopefully someone can find something they "need": Here's a link to my KUDOS THREAD The No PL/HOS members; The first "take it" posted in the thread wins (whether a straight thread take it, or a "take it via PM" if we reached a deal via PM). If you want to remain anonymous by purchasing via PM, this means there will be some risk of losing a book if someone posts a "take it" in the thread before I can mark the book SOLD based on your PM. Having said that, I'll mark books SOLD as soon as reasonably possible. If I label a book as being ON HOLD, that book is not available for purchase until it comes back off HOLD Payment I'll take PayPal, Venmo, personal checks, or USPS money orders; I'll expect payment within 10 calendar days, or the deal is off (unless we've made other payment arrangements) I'll gladly consider longer-term time payments, but PM me to discuss terms before taking a book if you need that. Shipping Terms USA: - Shipping via USPS priority or registered mail: I'll charge you what USPS will charge me (which depends on how far away from Salt Lake City you are ); International Destinations - Before finalizing the deal we'll need to check into insurance availability - if there isn't an insurance option that I'm comfortable with (based on the dollar value of your purchase) in terms of shipping to your country, I reserve the right to decline the sale; if we go forward, I'll charge you what USPS will charge me (we'll figure which is cheaper - first class or priority mail international - that'll depend on package value and destination)...PM me and I can put books ON HOLD while we figure it out (Hey...at least this is better than me just straight-up saying "I won't ship international", right? ) Returns/Refunds I will accept returns for a refund for any reason within two weeks of your receipt of the books, as long as the books are returned to me as they were when you received them. If you want to return a CGC slab, shipping both ways is on you (unless I screwed something up). Thanks for looking! Ed
  7. There are two primary contenders for the first "EC comic book"; long story short: the first comic book to use Educational Comics, Inc. in the indicia was Picture Stories from the Bible New Testament Edition No. 2, published early-mid 1945 - although it didn't have an EC logo on the cover - rather, it had an All-American Publications logo on the cover (Max Gaines' company just before the launch of EC) the first comic book to have an EC logo on the cover was Picture Stories from American History #1, published late 1945; also, this is the first comic Gaines published after he had completely parted ways with his old "pre-EC" business partners (which happened around summer of 1945) - because of this, many "purists" give this one their vote The book for sale in this thread (which is awesome!) was published in 1946.
  8. Clinton recently bought a couple of ECs from me, and the whole experience was a pleasure. KUDOS!
  9. What does the indicia say? Digital Comic Museum shows a copy with "PROMISES" on the cover, like yours: https://digitalcomicmuseum.com/index.php?dlid=30080 Looks like the indicia on that copy says "LOVE PROBLEMS AND ADVICE ILLUSTRATED"
  10. Strange - looks a lot like this one, except of course the word "PROMISES" is substituted for "PROBLEMS": https://www.comics.org/issue/113047/cover/4/ calling @Dr. Love
  11. As far as I know, all the GFCs are orange (all that I have seen, at least)
  12. Yep...so, if you're a completist, you need both
  13. If I had to pick one cover out of the sci-fi titles, I'd probably have to go with this one...va-va vooooomm!
  14. Maybe it was just a Schomburg thing. I just checked all the EC war books, and there were no pink helmets
  15. Now that we're on the promo subject anyway, I should give another update. Several posts back (which was a couple years ago ...time flies!), I rationalized how most of the promos I don't own could be removed from my completist list, given that they weren't copyrighted by EC. But, I also attached a caveat that I'll still be thrilled to pick them up if I have the chance. Well, I've stayed true to that, and in the couple years that have passed since that post, I've gotten my hands on three more of them (including the "other" book produced by the Lutheran church - Across the Seas in a War Torn World): Here are the other two (Reddy Kilowatt 2B Light's Diamond Jubilee, and Wonders of Wire Rope):
  16. Amazing story! Very cool - thanks for sharing! If you stumble across another copy out there, please let me know
  17. Congrats, Robot! #11 is no easy feat!
