  1. Yeah I'll have trouble hanging in the rarified air of Church Planets (although I can sure dream!). But I'm actually really excited to see some of the undercopies you all will be offering up. Should be a fun few months!
  2. Just won this off of CC. I think it presents excellent for grade. And I've always thought the Thunderer was one of the cooler looking GA heroes that never went anywhere. Still seeking lower grade copies of 1,5,6 to complete my run.
  3. Final result on the 8.0 at ComicConnect of $93,111. Seems like a pretty solid result to me.
  4. Please find me a cure! 18 issues to go and only a few non-rivet, won't be cheap or easy to complete. Sad I missed that 2, hard book to find!
  5. Splash pages don't get enough love. Here are a few from Detective Comics 7 that I acquired recently. Slam Bradley and Spy are Joe Shuster (note the Shuster signature atop Slam Bradley!) and the other is a Creig Flessel illustration for the text story that is an awesome under the radar image.
  6. Picked up this taped copy of #24 off ebay last week. Still pretty rad and nice readable interiors, and features an awesome Wolverton sci-fi story.
  7. Beautiful books everyone!! In particular Richard's books are just unbelievable, but when you own a run of Mile High More Funs, you are doing something right in life. And Vern is a close second, top notch as well! I have a thing for More Funs as well, as you might be able to tell from my sig line. That pic is a few years old and I've made a few nice additions. I have added a few of my more recent books. I was originally inspired to start buying them after reading Mark Zaid's awesome threads years back about his quest for the full run (I think he finished like 3-4 books short before he sold a bunch off, but got all the big ones). Mine are primarily lower grade or restored, but that keeps things affordable (somewhat). I love the comic history associated with the title, from the early origins of the New Funs as the earliest DC/National original comics to the adventure stories years and on into a superhero book featuring two of my all time favorite characters in The Spectre and Dr. Fate (and Aquaman, Green Arrow and Superboy aren't too shabby either). I have striven primarily for Spectre/Dr. Fate covers, with some earlier adventure covers when I can get them. And I think Jiminy is pretty cool too. Anyone parting with undercopies/extras, would love to talk to you... And keep the gems coming! I love when these books buried in collections see the light of day. Some of them only come up for sale once every few years, very special to see what everyone has.
  8. Congrats to Rick on the killer #2, SuperGrover on the lovely #5 (and lovely for grade #67), and Spyder on the still decent for grade #4. You guys are all top notch! Just got this low grade 51 today, front presents great other than tape and CT on spine, and keeps my wallet happy for under $100. Also picked up nice lower mid-grade copies of 39 and 62, you all probably saw them in his thread. Slowly filling the holes!
  9. Beautiful selection of books, sorry I missed out on the Amazing-Man! And that Wonderworld 4 is killer. Congrats to buyers and seller!
  10. Was underbidder on this one, nice pickup. And I was thinking the same thing when bidding, just throw out a # and hope it sticks!
  11. Just picked up one of the weirder covers I've ever seen. I love it!
  12. About that grail I mentioned above, it just arrived today, courtesy of Ricksneatstuff. Seems like I've been searching for this one for years, one of my top 5 favorite covers. Thanks again Rick, love it!
  13. I picked up this weird Detective 7 off eBay a few weeks back. First off I just love the Flessel cover (and a great interior Flessel splash page as well). It appears the book was brittle and the spine gave way all the way through, so some owner decided to laminate every single page and then put it back together. The thing is like a third of an inch thick and weighs over a pound. But given the deteriorating pages, it does seem to have preserved it somewhat, and it can be read, which is always fun (features a rat in cage torture sequence in one story). But the really cool thing is that is is signed on the first page by Joe Shuster! All in all an oddity, but one I'm still very psyched to have acquired.
  14. I love these early Adventure Comics. Interestingly enough, a 37 just sold on eBay last week. Hopefully a boardie got it as it didn't go cheap, ended at $5355. I don't recall seeing one sell before, at least in last few years. https://www.ebay.com/itm/-/292600666642?nordt=true&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l10137 You state that the highest graded 37 is a 5.0, this copy is raw but looks like it should beat that mark, perhaps a 6.0 or a little better... Probably not the Church copy, as it doesn't have any notations like the 24 above (which is absolutely stunning, by the way). But thought I'd throw it out there and see what others think, as I was a bit surprised at the sale price.
  15. Just scored this baby off eBay last week, love it and presents great for a split cover. And I just scored a grail from Rick yesterday, will post once I have it in hand... Welcome to the madness Spyder, it has been an obsession of mine since 2010, when I first saw and immediately bought my first issue, the great 65.
  16. What a lineup of books! Wish I could afford to claim them all (and sorry I missed that Planet!)... And that Ace King is incredible, I've never seen that book before, very cool. GLWTS!!
  17. What a selection of books! Museum quality! Can't wait to see the Catman run...
