  1. @ZimmermanTelegram I missed this thread back in July.  I have a piece of his art from that run.  Evan was supposed to do a commission for me, but unfortunately he's not the most organized guy when it comes to those and we ended up making a deal where he swapped out the page in place of the commission.  He had emailed me a list of pages.  They ranged anywhere from $100 - $190 at the time (January of 2015).

Related to what most of the comic art world values a piece, I'd say this value graph below may be a better way to evaluate art piece levels. Comparing 1 piece of art to another to get consensus of A vs B vs C vs D levels artistically is much harder to do.

    $10,000+ is A level

    $1000-$9999 is B level

    $200-$999 is C level

    $1-$199 is D level

I would have to disagree with this, there's been recent cases of newer collectors spending well over $10K on modern art that many more experienced/older collectors wouldn't call A Level.  This example gives too wide a berth for definition of the terms.

  3. Overall, I enjoyed season 2, but had the same issues I've had with most of Marvel's Netflix series lately; I wish they would cut the season order by 1-2 episodes and force the writers to tighten up their stories.  Always seems that there are points where they're just treading water before moving on with the story.

    Spoiler

Loved the brief Daughters of the Dragon team-up and would love to see more, same goes for the brief Power Man & Iron Fist tease.  Seems like Tilda Johnson/Nightshade was set up for the season 3 villain, but they've also set Luke up to be at odds with all of his allies.  Interesting finish.

But you say parking sucked... sure did

@Kevin Boyd any chance next year's show moves back to the North/South Concourse?  Not sure what the logistics were this year, but 2017's show held in that part of the convention center had plenty of parking, while this year's show held in the West Concourse provided the smallest parking area at the Orange County Convention Center.

  5. In my opinion, whether it be for a published piece or a commission, I would want you to use every tool available to you in order to produce the most outstanding piece of art that you are capable of.  Additionally (and this is only a hypothesis from my own experience drawing or painting over the years), but digital layouts not only allow for you to save time, but could possibly extend your career by lessoning the wear and tear on your hands.

  6. Though I enjoy many of today's modern artists, I've often found myself seeking out bronze era and older pages with dialogue more recently.  Unless the artist has completely conveyed the story through the art on their panels (and in today's world of computer enhancement, they often haven't), the lack of dialogue has left many modern pages feeling bland.

  7. This was a hilarious Twitter exchange.  Elizabeth Banks nailed it.

Love Tom Hardy, but the CGI on Venom just looks off.  Here's my other issue, Spider-Man is integral to the look of Venom because he wore the symbiotic costume first.  What's the explanation for his resemblance to Spidey in this film if that never happens?

There are actually some interesting questions raised by the OP.

I've seen OA for sale before which has been partly colored in by kids or some other amateur. I saw one at the Big Apple Con this weekend. I would estimate it reduced the piece by 2/3rds in value or so (but I'm not too skilled at this sort of thing). So:

    (1) What do you think should be the impact on value? Is the piece ruined? What about just a little crayon like here?

    (2) Can Crayola be removed? What about other stuff? Can it be removed by an collector or does it need a restorer?

This was one of my biggest art collecting fears as my kids were growing up.  I always made sure my collection was stored well away from little fingers and crayons.

As for crayon removal, straight from the source:  http://www.crayola.com/faq/stain-removal-tips/how-can-i-remove-crayon-marks-from-paper/

I had a feeling the show had to end the way it did with Jessica's mother

But what a way to go out.

Nice wrap-up to the show with where Jessica ended up, and Patsy Walker. I'm assuming the latter could land her own show next.

hm  Not sure they left Trish likable enough to have her own show after this, did they?

i gotta say this season is a big improvement over last season but DD s1 & s2 are still the top dogs to beat.

I think season 1 had a much better villain, while season 2 had much more character development for Jessica.

    Spoiler

I realize Jessica is a loner, but I was kind of disappointed that there was no follow up at all from the Defenders story arc . . . not one mention.  And felt that Trish's story arc was rather hypocritical.

  11. Growing up in Orlando, you're always in the shadow of Mickey Mouse. While Disney has always been amazing, it's an entirely different experience when you are there for the birth of a new theme park. It's been quite the journey with Universal Studios . . . from Jaws to Harry Potter. I was there the day the park opened, went to their very first Halloween Horror Nights (they're prepping for HHN 28 this year) and got to experience a whole new thrill when Islands of Adventure opened the summer after I finished college. While all of the "Islands" are great, of course Marvel Adventure Island was always my favorite. Given the time period of its opening, the island is dominated by X-Men art, with some Avengers, FF, Hulk and Spidey sprinkled in. Adam Kubert was the main contributing artist for the park and his work can be seen everywhere, however there is one small sitting area that features the work of another artist. Called "Shards", these six diamond pillars feature numerous Marvel characters, but one features the original X-Men, Professor X, Magneto and the Sentinels. I've eyed it for few decades now at the park and was thrilled to find the original artwork on Anthony's website, especially since I now get to share Universal with my 10 year old son.

So here's my little piece of theme park history, the original art to "Shard #4", the X-Men, by Sal Buscema and Tim Townsend.

  12. Just added this buyer to my blocked list:  jangaru78

Current feedback of 24 is all good, but made an offer late in the day yesterday, followed by an email stating "I expect you accept as soon as be possible".

Thought I'd consider the offer and sleep on it.  After giving me less than 12 hrs (including the 8 I was sleeping).  Woke up this morning and they had lied to eBay in order to retract their bid, saying I had changed the item description, I had not.

Revealed their personality on this one and not the type of person I'd like to do business with anyway.
