  1. One of my properties has a tiny 7x7 storefront which was used for the longest as an office. But the busy street would suggest that a tiny newsstand comic shop could work there (which is what I wanted to turn it to). Ran it by my wife and yada yada yada, we’re opening a juice bar there instead
  2. Wasn’t my thing. I went to see it for Phoenix and got exactly what I expected. Not getting the comparison to taxi driver, or any other Scorsese movie for that matter. I liked the cinematography and a couple (no more) of the scenes there; 1 when joker made his first kill, 2 when he made his third kill (does that make me a violent person?) I think the movie needed either more of a steady pace to compare to Scorsese or stronger lines/dialogs. As it was, it felt like it was CONSTANTLY getting somewhere but never did. It didn’t go deep enough for me. I agree with what people said here that it’s a shame it was only an origin story, it would have been brilliant if there were more action scenes, definitely in the vein of taxi driver’s Action finale. Realistic looking ones taken in interesting angles. Also there needed to be a hero/villain element which never really happened with this movie. It was Arthur with a bunch of supporting characters (Thomas Wayne, Murray Franklin, the two cops...), either one of those should have been expanded and built up in The Joker, as the relationship between him and them never really developed intensely enough. by next year this movie will be a flash in the pan, and in the next few years I doubt people will even remember that there was a movie based on a strong DC comic book character which added nothing to its cinematic universe. A total miss (and a very unfortunate one at that)
  3. Display/merchandising Try have diversified inventory Make the store fun and engaging
  4. Good luck with your new venture! Merchandise! Merchandise! Merchandise!
  5. I was very fortunate to make several trips growing up, I can say comic book reading kinda started for me during those trips, I was honestly looking forward to most of those trips BECAUSE of the comic book purchases. I think by age 7 or so I only accumulated around 50+ books just from the trips we were taking at which point I started subscribing to 2 titles (batman and superboy), but the trips abroad were filled with comic book reading. i just came back from a trip overseas and while waiting at the lounge in came the sweet memories of my childhood and the comic books, so felt compelled to share. So sad that there arent any comic books involved with my trips anymore (but my wife is kinda happy, thats the only time im NOT reading them lol)
  6. This always happens to me... every time I wait at an airport lounge overseas I let my mind drift and give in to sweet memories of me being a 4 year old sitting at the airport lounge/waiting area waiting for our flight to board and mom taking us to the nearest newsstand to pick some random comic book, activity books... it’s always the random superhero book for me.. a bronze Hulk, Superboy or Justice League... Not knowing, for the most part, who the characters are, just flipping through pages and marveling at each panel... This is probably my earliest memory of enjoying comic books, looking forward to that each time we go abroad.
  7. It’s first big hit was Aliens. It was also my favorite..
  8. Agree with the second part of your assessment. But I don’t think there’s gonna be a correction because of that. People can’t be THAT dumb to not figure this out by now
  9. Not too sure I follow this still seems hot as it was when it came out... no?
  10. Yup, lot hunting is one way to go about it. Especially nowadays with the resurgence of lot selling on fb. I’d get 2-3 lots for dirt cheap on eBay, pick the keys out then manage to make a profit just by flipping the keyless lots on fb.
  11. Yup makes sense.. can’t go wrong with a mixed lot like that if one or two books end up as 40-50$ and the rest are sold randomly to offset the initial investment cost
  12. Cbailey you’re a monster!!! it was due to you that I had bought 5 copies back when they were 5-10$ a pop. Luckily I got one graded this week (finally)
  13. You can’t lose winning. Sell at the current trending price unless you believe in the property. I learned that lesson with Alias 1 ever since then I never looked back (but even then I sold all my raw Alias copies at peak prices and only held on to my 9.8)
  14. I got my 9.8 copy from Sarasota the day the movie came out. I knew I had to sell it quickly. Listed it the night of the premiere for 450 and sold the next morning
  15. I wasn’t saying that finding a deal on eBay is unethical. Just relating to the debate we had earlier in relation to the OP dealing practices in comparison to your method of deal finding. I once won a Necronomicon for 7$ because the seller wrote that the book is in fair condition because it had someone, he suspected a child, deface the book by scribbling aggressively over the first two pages of the book and included a pic of the pages If you know that book, you’d know that that’s Salvador Dali’s hand signed dedication to Giger which is part of the book’s features. I also made a snarky remark hinting to my own thread on this board which showcases many deals found on eBay here:
  16. I meant that it’s unethical that kav is not yet a moderator
  17. How about me giving myself a like actually THAT is unethical! 🤭
  18. How is it that youre not a mod yet?
