  1. I think House of Mystery Ann would be the book for this, IF the series proves to be a hit.. I think getting them now at 30-40 is probably a hell of a bargain if they will get to even just Strain #1 levels.. Im not even talking about the other popular show.. You know... the one that.. Uh.. Like... Everyone is trying to be like
  2. Id like to see the email that said destroy the comic.. Plus the footer notes reading "each employee gets to keep one copy and sell on eBay.. Theres your bonus for this year"
  3. Pur-fect example.. Hers a seller whos sold Shopkins toys for 1-2 dollars in the past month. Boom! Got his/her hands on a HTSW from his/her boss at the shop.. Pimped one for 50 bucks (sold sales history), now going for the kill with 1000.. In his/her mind they think.. Damn these comic book people got money like that???
  4. This is ridiculous.. all these HT employees are controlling 80% of the listings on eBay.. Just look at the sellers accounts.. Most have 1 or 2 other items on their page.. including jeans pants and Nikes No sir.. we're not allowed to sell them.. But we'll try our hardest to flip them!!!!
  5. It's been 25 years. I don't think it's going to change any time soon. Of course, I would LOVE to have Annual #14 be more sought after...I've got probably 40 copies. Maybe 3 copies left of #266. Ditto (well, not 40, but 5-7, having sold 4 or 5 in the last 2 years) Many dealers didn't realize or care what it was for a long time and it wound up in cheapie boxes. frankly, i'm not even sure i knew what it was either, but i bought it because i like the adams cover. those days are probably over. Those days anything AAdams touched were golden. And rightfully so!
  6. That book's bids were made before the correction. The last bid on 1/29 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Star-Wars-1-Ultra-Rare-Hot-Topic-Variant-RECALLED-to-be-DESTROYED-/301508304108?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item46334b9cec They probably should have gone with a BIN but that is easy to say in hindsight. Agreed. That book is a has BIN
  7. None for none but Ill take an Art Adams cover over Kubert any day.. Including that one.. And especially in the 80s when AAdams was a rising star.. Just me though BTW I dont agree that its your 5,000 post.. I believe that your first appearance was when you signed on to the boards
  8. Collecting by popular artist is always a good idea.. Regardless of motive.. Art is timeless and is not being controlled by current trends or movies... I do the same with the other Adams, Art Adams, I love his early books and try and get as many in NM signed and slabbed.

  10. Here's one thing to consider.. UXM #266 - 1084 9.8s XMA #14 - 195 9.8s Maybe XMA #14 is a tougher book in 9.8??
  11. Hey sorry guys, just saw these and didnt wanna start a whole thread so it appears like spam.. Since theres so much off topic info offered casually here, Ill just ad it here. love me some dark knight phone cases
  12. The market is ALWAYS deceived by people with capital gains and monopolistic sentiments towards achieving those, whether its joe schmoe who bought 10 copies of hottopic star wars and posted on a blog raving about them or a record label executive who bought all his artist's records to elevate him/her through the nielsen charts..
  13. The question- what makes a 1st full appearance more valuable (IH181)(( where u at slym)), or a cameo more valuable (Jimmy Olsen #134), or an Ad appearance more valuable (Gobbledygook #1), or a preview appearance more valuable (DCP #26), or a promotional magazine more valuable (San Diego Comic-Con Comics #2) - Is simply answered by these words: The Market If we're borrowing examples from other industries, I would compare this discussion to an argument that happens daily among music enthusiasts: What makes a record a hit record? Its the market. Granted, intellectual properties were written and distributed properly to the masses, its now up to the people to decide what they prefer to read, listen or collect..
  14. Apparently it has to be an in story appearance to count as a true first appearance. Pin ups and ads don't count. Previews don't count. That being said, it probably still has value, if the right collectors are aware of it. So what if the preview itself is a story? I'm talking DCP #26 and New Teen Titans #16. And if so, would Walking Dead 127 Image Expo jan 2014 fall into the same category? Are these the 1st apps of the New Teen Titans, Captain Carrot and Outcast? I apologize for bringing a modern into the discussion but it's a pretty good example. FTFY Agents 6?

  16. Chuckles will argue with you that Detective #639 is the first true appearance of Sonic The Hedgehog
