  1. Since we are at the copper forum let me post 2 of my favorite promo exhibits from the time
  2. Which explains why the show still runs but no one really bothers with the book other than the fans. Which are one step closer to non existent 15 years later
  3. Readers arent fans. Thats the difference between a successful property and just a random property. Preacher doesnt have fans like walking dead did PRIOR to the movie. Or like TMNT, or like Umbrella academy. The 1,000 fan rule in essence talks about a core base of fans who will do anything for the artist. Not just buy their product. Talk about their product, promote it to their peers. Just like true fans do. This is how Comic book properties became the standard in Hollywood. Because we, the fans of the medium as a whole, made it the standard for the general public. I believe that properties like ElfQuest, Usagi, alot of Valiant stuff, Spawn etc have a better chance of making it if budgeted properly. Is there an active Preacher support group? I dont even know if we have an appreciation thread for Preacher on these boards.
  4. Who are you and why are you depriving us from our Friday entertainment with relevant material???
  5. I agree with this. Further I will say that the number of TRUE Preacher fans didn't justify the creation of this show. However good it was done. The "1,000 fan theory" didn't apply to this property. And that's in essence what's happening with (among many creative branches) most comic book properties nowadays. I'm willing to bet that many comic collectors/readers are like you and me when it comes to Preacher. We never read the book but heard good things. That doesn't make us fans. And according to the (lack of) demand there is out there for Preacher, it looks like there aren't many fans out there for this property. I think 25,000 fans for this property is a far faaaar fetched number. More like 200-500 fans at best. The creative team that speculated on beingjng this show to life failed with their prediction
  6. Really loving deals like these: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Spider-Man-Comic-Book-Lot-of-44-Hobgoblin-Perceptions-Sub-City-All-in-Sleeves-A/254134608901?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 https://www.ebay.com/itm/Walt-Disney-comic-books/153384632928?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 From the Spidey lot I just took the ASM361 and sent it in to get graded From the cartoon character lot I just took a few Scooby books which I pressed and sold for $50 Then I went and listed all of the remaining books on facebook and got a quick $200 for all If I get a 9.8 on the asm361 this $50 investment will make me approx $300
  7. Exactly. Harry Potter is a perfect example. But that's a different format
  8. I see characters like punisher and wolverine as breakthrough characters in the formation of this new era that we live in. These were characters that were introduced to readers while comics were still mainly catering to a younger audience and that actually started to have a cult following in the 80s, when comic book readers matured. Punisher and Wolverine are The Godfathers of today's market.
  9. I think the reason why that won't happen is because kids don't read comics anymore. Let's face it most of the characters we grew to love became massive hits because of the kids who supported them who then grew to collect them show me a comic that kids can enjoy reading, and grow into nowadays? Spider-Gwen? How many printed comics does she have? How many tv shows or radio shows does she have? She dwarfs in comparison to the characters of the 40-70s today's comic book just service adults with very few kids showing interest most of the "keys" of today won't have the lasting power of the keys of yesterday. Just because of the audience absorbing them. You can never ever compare a superman to a walking dead or Spider-Man to a Batman Who laughs. Different times
  10. We will see many many more keys We wont see another Marvel or DC though
  11. Theres a spine stress mark on the front cover (i think its clearer in the listing image) but its very very faint and on a white background which i will prolly be able to press... Ive pressed it yesterday and it looked great, but ill leave it in the Seal200 for another day. It really is a nice copy!
  12. Yup, mine all have the same colored logo, even the 3D part.. I think seller might have had more than 4 copies and sold a few and used the same listing probably, which is why he worded it that way Thanks!
  13. I cant believe I actually bought this, but I guess after seeing what Spawn #1 newsstand editions are going for, I caved The Savage Dragon #1 (Jul 1992, Image), 4 issues different colored Seller also had a set of Marvel v DC #1-4 on auction, so I shot him an offer for $10 and he accepted. All books are in the 9.4 range Still trying to figure out what seller meant by different colored (on the SD listing) So I waited and waited... And waited and waited... And waited and waited and waited... And finally I found my copy of Super Friends #7 Super Friends #7 1977 DC Comics 1st appearance of Wonder Twins! Gonna press it tonight and send to Sarasota, and I simply cannot imagine this coming back less than a 9.6
  14. That's a dealer account. This guy already made his money on the Outcast train. He's now clearing out inventory at cost. There are many users on eBay that do that not on their regular account
  15. We don't know nothing about his expenses. For all I know he may have even fast track them. So let's just assume the obvious. It cost him approx 20 per book and IF he actually sells at his asking price he makes around 390. so if he loses 10 on 20 9.8 it means one thing and one thing only that book is garbage
  16. Of course he did. That was my point. Were expected to believe when he says "freshly graded"? These have to be overstocks, he's either smart by liquidating now after he made his money years ago, or he's really really dumb for sending these all in (as the listing suggests) now and clearing them for no profit
  17. Bravo! The Target Exclusive DVD reprint of #1 is anywhere from $40-130 depending on condition. This one is being pressed to a 9.8 right now, no BS Also, the final issue (146) is an easy 10-15 book and 126 is not bad either And yeah, the Moebius Parable series is $15 a pop all day any day on amazon Considering I can probably flip the rest of the books for the price I paid, this was a non brainer for me for $15
  18. Well he got 20 9.8s. It's not like he got 20 9.6 and blew them away cause he got more 9.8s
  19. I've made a killing out of that book. There were times when a signed copy by azaceta alone would yield 40-50$ and graded 9.8 were flying at 100-150 a pop. Like. Flying! now this book is the face of future drek
  20. Wait, he "nailed" 20 9.8s and offering them for no profit? How is that smart?
