  2. So in essence BP may end up being an even bigger property than Wolverine or Deadpool?
  3. So what do you guys think the future will look like for BP? Will this movie go down in history being just another Marvel hit movie ala Avengers/Iron Man. Will it be a great movie ala Avatar? Or will it be a Disney classic ala Pocahontas/Lion King etc? Will we see more BP merch? will there be Disney BP rides? Will comiccons have more BP fans and presence?
  4. I'll take a virgin over a regular any day. with books too.
  5. Not really a cover, but a Herb Trimpe trying to draw like Liefeld gets him his 15 minutes of fame here anyday!
  6. When I tell ya I had 5 copies last year at 5.00 that havent moved until I gave up on them and threw them in with a lot I think that this will be the equivalent of Deadpool #1 ongoing price wise. I think that the movie was mainly based on this Priest run from what I heard...
  7. How long has this been going for???!?!?!?! https://www.ebay.com/itm/Marvel-Comics-Black-Panther-1-first-Okaye-Zuri-Nakia-Marvel-Knights-1998-NM/202177059241?hash=item2f12b119a9:g:5rEA

  9. Speaking to a friend today (who's not big into comics) he told me that people forget/don't know that Blade was the first aa superhero So even tho he was wrong, that got me to think that even tho one can't compare the commercial success of BP to Blade (which was a huge hit back then as well) is it possible that Marvel (and DC for that matter) slept for too long on black superhero movies???
  10. For such a hit movie with an exciting new following and a possible new breed of collectors, Im quite shocked that this book hasnt moved significantly higher than it probably should. If I had some speculative blood left in me, Id probably go for a 9.0 right now and keep it in the safe for a while
  11. You can write a whole essay about them and your life story. But what you really need to look up is the word "famous" in the dictionary
  12. Dont give me the "how old are you" routine when youre caught in a lie The 761st Tank Battalion were FAR less known back then than they were now. Definitely not "famous" then, nor now. The only reason why they are known today (to certain people who google black panthers probably just like you did), NOT famous, is BECAUSE of the Black Panther activist group
  13. The 761st Tank Battalion wasnt "famous" as Black Panthers, so this statement is wrong:
  14. You know that everyone loves variants, when in a thread named "Variants make me puke", people post variants!
  15. I think what most comic connoisseurs (no pun intended) here don't see is that for the regular movie goer, not comic fan, this was perceived as an amazing cinematic experience. They didn't go to see it comparing it to other superheroes movies. That's why this movie is so effin out-the-box brilliant. I would've loved to be in that boardroom meeting when BP was discussed and see how this idea was developed
  16. Exactly my thoughts! Even though I'm aware of a few black panther tpb (BP essential comes to mind) I'm sure that there are other fans of the movie that are seeking a book instead of a tpb collecting various comics. In their mind this probably seems like a movie based on a self contained story. And to not have a book ready to pick up is a HUGE missed opportunity. Hopefuly they're working on one soon
  17. Last night at my LCS a lady walked in with her (i assume) 2 sons and was asking the owner if he had "the Black Panther book". Garry showed her to some comics he had but she seemed very confused, she was under the impression that this was a book. This got me to think that most people who dont know the character and just heard about him through the movie probably think that this is based on a book ala Harry Potter. I would think that it would probably be a good idea for Marvel to adapt the movie to a graphic novel. No brainer
  18. Black Panther is as staple a character to Marvel as any character that has been introduced since the Silver age, lasted over 50 years, and made into a movie Number of series nor runs neither add nor take from that status. MK has not met any of those requirements
