  1. Some ComicLink pickups First, one of the great Fawcett WWII covers
  2. IMHO It doesn't look like Baker to me. Did he ever work for Avon? bb I agree. Not Baker, IMHO. Not Baker according to OS also. But it's still a great cover and a nice book. Are the innards as good as the cover? The CGC lable that was with the book says Matt Baker cover. Any way to tell for sure? Ken I think it's Baker. The woman's face looks very similar to other Baker faces, such as the cover to It Rhymes With Lust. Check out the eyebrows.
  3. I've got 9 LB Cole cover books for sale in the Marketplace! LB Cole books linky
  4. Very nice These early Heroics really have nice covers, don't they? And I never would have noticed if not for them being posted here on the boards, so thanks guys!
  5. Nice run. Love the circus cover on #54. And that one seems to be a little scarcer than the others, too.
  6. All great books Fury But this one is It's a really pretty copy. There was a whole pile of All-Stars, and all but this one and the #33 were low grade, taped up, reader copies. I'm glad I looked through them carefully!
  7. All beauties but if I were shopping I would most likely have ended up with the Heroic. Great stuff -- I hope you take a look inside. Jack Read the Supersnipe last night and will be reading the Heroic tonight!
  8. I picked up these beauties yesterday at the Philly Comic Con. For a small show, there sure are some great books in the room. All-Star Comics #33 This is an upgrade from my other copy which is a G- 1.8 (but it is a Signature Series signed by both Kubert and Hasen!) All-Star Comics #53 One more down in my quest for a complete run of All-Stars... Heroic Comics #3 After seeing Ciorac's and others copies of Heroic Comics, I just had to have one! (thumbs u Supersnipe #6 (#1) Another book that made my wantlist after seeing other copies posted here.
  9. I just emailed the seller to see if he knows anything about where the book came from. The seller is from central PA, and Winters was born and raised in the Lancaster PA area. At the time the book came out in the spring of 1941, he was finishing up his senior year at Franklin and Marshall College. That fall he enlisted in the army. So, it's probably a long-shot that it's the same Winters, but the few pieces of info I have do fit. Who knows?
  10. looks nicer than 4.5; they must've penalized for the boy's name which i find charming as hell and not a problem in the least. nicely done, sir. Could that be THE Winters from the 101st Airbourne, D-Day, and Band of Brothers fame? A real Superman. Hmmm, THE Winters was 23 when this book was published. The signature does look like an adult's signature.
  11. looks nicer than 4.5; they must've penalized for the boy's name which i find charming as hell and not a problem in the least. nicely done, sir. Thanks. I agree, I don't mind the name at all. There's a tear at the bottom center, two smaller tears on the right edge, and a corner crease on the lower right. I think the combination of those defects knocked it down to a technical grade of 4.5, but it sure is one pretty 4.5! White pages, too!
  12. One more early Supe down! if anyone knows Rich Winters, tell him I have his book
  13. Added another book to my collection of high-grade Feature Comics. The colors are really bright, and the White pages are
  14. Great book. It's really cool to see that letter too. Thanks for posting it.
  15. 8 inches of snow fell here last night, but that didn't stop UPS and the USPS from bringing these beauties to my door. First up, Human Torch #8. Gotta thank Nearmint for this one! Thanks Jeff! What a great cover. I love the way the iron is melting, and the Sub-mariner's "Anti-flame Fluid"! How cool is that? Also got a nice copy of Is This Tomorrow, an upgrade over my old copy.
  16. Another upgrade just in today, a pretty copy of Is This Tomorrow.
  17. What venue did you pick this baby up at? Feebay. It was in a lot that came with a couple of anti-communist pamphlets too (they are not comics). They were both printed by the Government Printing Office and say "for use of the Committee on Un-American Activities". One is called "Communist Psychological Warfare (Brainwashing)", the other "Languange as a Communist Weapon". Looks like pretty interesting stuff, but I haven't had a chance to examine them yet.
  18. Looks like Ron Howard. Cool book You know, it kinda does!
  19. Found this in my mailbox today. A nice upgrade of Double Talk!
  20. Awesome books! Fawcetts are so under-appreciated. A few months ago I picked up a CMA #3 9.0, and had intended to flip it, but I'm getting closer and closer to removing it from my site and keeping it. Fawcetts are great. I don't understand why so few GA collectors pay them any attention at all. Same can be said for Quality books too. Captain Marvel, Plastic Man and Blackhawk were some of the most popular and longest running families of titles of the GA. Where's the love? Just checked out your scan of the CMA #3 9.0, Jeff. That's a sweet copy of a nice book. You should probably keep it. (thumbs u
  21. Picked all three of these up in the past week or two. #'s 8, 12, and 13. I really, really like the war covers on #8 and #12! Iconic imagery, IMHO.
