     I essentially have been priced out of collecting. No more pre code, no more GA Tecs..

    I hear ya.  I have as well.  I got back into collecting in 2011 and only recently (last few years) have started to go after minor keys and interesting books from the golden age.  I've been able to grab some on my want list but in looking back, I went about this all wrong.  With reintroducing myself in 2011, I started on bronze and some silver, only moving into GA later on.  If I could have a do over, I'd have grabbed GA and silver keys back then, and saved everything else for now.  Honestly, it took me a long time to truly appreciate GA, and now that I have, I've been mostly priced out.  My bad.

    ASM 300 direct

    9.8 = 10,000

    9.6 = 3,000

    9.4 = 1,950

    9.2 = 1,450

    9.0 = 1,300

    Is that GC's FMV values or the actual most recent sales data?  In my opinion, the FMV number is useless..

    One of only four in 9.8...none higher.

    Compare it to GS Xmen 1 (195 in 9.8), FF 48 (39 in 9.8), ASM 129 (146 in 9.8), Hulk 180 (50 in 9.8), hulk 181 (128 in 9.8 or higher), Silver Surfer 4 (24 in 9.8), TOD 10 (48 in 9.8 or higher), etc.

    What would be interesting to see would be the number of incoming subs of spotlight 5s from this point forward.

    I mean this constructively, but honestly, shouldn’t have you secured this stuff 2-3 years ago?  The stuff I am buying now is an easy buy, because I’m not competing with anyone for it, which leaves more money to compete for stuff that is always on a want list. For example: Kraven stuff. You should already have the Zeck series secured, those are 4-figure books in a year.

    Unfortunately, we can't buy everything although many of us would if we had unlimited capital.  Personally, once I saw prices shooting up exponentially, I bailed out on many of my want list items and changed direction, working on other books that aren't currently being eyed by hundreds of others.  The strategy has worked out pretty well thus far.  Still, going forward, I probably will try to obtain some of those want list items via cash/trade deals rather than bidding on auction books.
