  1. Yeah but those rusted staples, what a big turnoff. Who knows what the pages look like underneath.
  2. The SS#4 cover I am assuming is owned by the estate or a family member? Can't even imagine what that would go for in a private sale/auction.
  3. I don't know Adam's at all but judging from the various comments I have read about him lately he comes across as a bit pompous. I'm looking back at the GL#76 cover that was auctioned at Heritage and his blurb about sharing proceeds with the owner, etc (was that really even necessary). Lots of me, me, me.
  4. Well who knows but I don't have a lot of faith where all the major players have their own auction houses. It's like playing Battleship and your opponent can see all your boats.
  5. No way this hits a million unless someone gets their bid shilled up. If CGC did announce a 9.9 pre screen service this release is a perfect way to pump that, what a shocker. No way this is owned by someone who is not part of the inner circle either.
  6. Never seen that one before. There are so many Canadian copies from the late 40's, early 50's where you might see 1 or 2 copies surface in a decade.
  7. Jimbo you need to throw a cigar in there too.
  8. Was Kirby the greatest artist, no, but what he created, all those characters, will never be equalled. It's like the Eddie Van Halen argument, was he the fastest, no, but his body or work, album after album for decades have no equal. There are a bunch of other great, fast and technical guitarists from his era but most people would be hard pressed to name 3 songs that they created. There is no comparison.
  9. You need to find a hobby. I just kid, congrats.
  10. Is this more of a Marvel vs DC question because I really don't see a comparison ( like Marvel vs DC).
  11. Did Adam's actually create any characters of note? It's not even close, Kirby.
  12. And if you want to almost guarantee taking a bath on a sale (only to see your piece relisted by someone else at one of these auction houses), list it on Ebay as an auction starting at $1.
  13. I think that everyone had some valid complaints/points about gaps the various auction houses could improve on but at first glance the thread makes me chuckle a bit. No offense to anyone but it does come across as if we are outraged that the limo driver forgot to stock some Grey Poupon!
  14. Brilliant cover. So many great ones in the JIM run, you could see that this was a labour of love for him. Beautiful copy.
  15. Never said it wasn't. Was referring to all those aggressive under bidders that disappeared when some of those Promise books were relisted.
  16. Hyping up record sales seems to be a standard playback by most dealers. Gets them more exposure and clientele, pumps up prices. How about the Promise market, where did all those aggressive under bidders go? (Eye roll)
  17. Didn't they initially buy it for that billionaire collector? Did they buy it back from him?
  18. But that book would look sweet in a mylar as the front cover presents like a 7.5.
  19. Unfortunately you may be 100% right about this.
  20. Yup I thought that the Kang version in Loki could not be more boring, time to side step this character and cut their losses. A Masters of Evil plot line or Olympus battle with Zeus would be great but they would have to bring back Cap and Thor to make this work. Even a Bronze Age classic Nefaria story arc (incorporate Wonder Man) would be awesome.
