  1. Oh I knew they were bay prices, and I've sold enough around here to know the difference, but that's part of what I'm saying about a book having a "solid" price: I generally look to sales here for a true test of a book and factor in the inflated eBay prices due to Ebay/PayPals cut.
  2. Thanks for the good news. I'm just going off my NM+ #1 and bonus #4 that have sat in the Modern Sales section for the last week. I though it was priced decent at $35 for the pair. I think if MD was still on the rise they would have sold, but we're definitely in a plateau phase. I appreciate you bantering with me on this Authority, but a "solid" book to me means it sells consistently at that price no matter how flooded or "full" the market is. MD is not there yet IMO, and I wouldn't be surprised to see it backslide some and settle at what will be the actual "solid" price, probably $25-$30 (hopefully )
  3. Yeah it's crashing hard, if you have any i'd get out now. A far different tenor of posts than in the spring. Perhaps there was some speculation involved in the book's price rise after all. Hope slym didn't invest all his money. He might have to get a job. Yeah I thought #1 was a "solid $40 book" right? At least this thread still delivers after all this time.
  4. Yeah I was certain some twist was waiting somewhere in there... I'm becoming less certain as time passes, but it may still happen. It is just so very similar to the old 'Walking Tall' / 'Billy Jack' movies that it has left me scratching my head. I loved Billy Jack and all of the Walking Tall movies except the last one. Those movies are around 40 to 50 years old and I would venture a guess that most people from the latest generation are unfamiliar with them. I think even if this book were exactly the same, it would be worth a read. Its like McDonalds, I'm loving it. (thumbs u I understand what you're saying, but let's not forget that it's not that clean of a slate...The Rock ruined Walking Tall for a whole new generation
  5. I love this book, but if they don't ditch the Walking Tall theme then I think it's pointless to talk about castings. Can't see Hollywood doing the "tough-guy-with-an-axe handle/bat" again. Honestly, I'm surprised Aaron even went there at all, pretty unoriginal for such a great writer.
  6. Nice set Ryan! Definitely a run worth keeping forever!
  7. TRANSLATION: E.S. is incompetent with regards to handling problems professionally. He's the head honcho, the big 'cheese' after all over at Image. If there's a problem with the story, he's the one writing it and no-one else is to blame. If there's a problem with the artist, hire another or hire an assistant to ease the burden. If anyone was in a position to eliminate the issues or nonsense driving the delays E.S. was in it. He demonstrated that he clearly cannot and furthermore demonstrated immeasurable disrespect to the fan base by not acknowledging the shortcomings earlier in a transparent way. This was my first reaction. Tough to listen to cryptic excuses from the guy who ultimately makes the big calls. Still sucks though, really enjoyed this title.
  8. Don't ruin it, Im really enjoying watching all the suckers buy Scalped 43 at hilarious prices Anyone that's read Scalped knows how funny all of this is. Let the fools throw their money away.
  9. Respect is a two way street. You're correct: E.S. doesn't owe anyone anything, but by the same logic the fans owe nothing back. Vey true, well put.
  10. I guess I'm under the impression that artists don't owe fans anything. Maybe this is a phenomenon unique to comics ? I don't get pissy when I have had to wait a long time for a new album from my favorite musicians, and I'm certainly not going to stop being a fan or dismiss their prior work because I'm pissed about the wait. Just my , ES doesn't owe anyone anything, it was fun while it lasted.
  11. There is still plenty of time for Scalped to be flash in the pan as well. How many options have actually become real tv shows? 2-3? out of 40? I have now tried to read issue 1 of Scalped about 4 times. I can't get through it...I wouldn't bet a cent on Scalped #anything but that's just me... The 1st five issues are definitely the least interesting and are set-up. But critical to the story later on. For me, it's in my all-time top 10 favorite books. I was pretty pleased to meet Aaron as he wrapped up the series. One of my favorite issues is #35. Felt the same way as when I read Sandman #9. Patrick Issue 30 is hands down my favorite. Scalped is a slow burn but worth the perseverance. Top 5 runs ever in my opinion.
  12. I think he's currently on vacation, but yeah my copy also showed up with a major dinged corner. Oh well, going to read them all to shreds anyway.
  13. I was hoping the nominations would serve as confirmation they needed to realize that people loved the book and to start making it a priority...but that didn't seem to happen
  14. Because what was written and drawn was really, really good. RIP Nowhere Men.
  15. I agree. While I think it would be silly to start stockpiling on the word of a single blog/tumblr post, I don't see anything wrong with someone who's loving Southern Bastards picking up a copy because the creator mentioned a small connection. I did Edit: I do think it's a little misleading to plaster "first appearance of" on listing for the book though. Mentioning the artist post seems fine, but implying this is a legitimate first appearance seems wrong. If thats what has people so frustrated, I can understand that. I'm sorry, but I feel like everyone's missing the funniest part: you dropped decent cash on a first appearance of a prototype of a character who's only been in TWO ISSUES. That's the ridiculous part. I enjoyed the first two SB issues too, but wow, what if the series tanks? What if it's canceled in a couple issues? What if it sucks? Considering I read all of Scalped, I'm sure none of these things are true because Aaron rocks, but I'm just saying it's hilariously early to be spending that kind of money on a prototype appearance. Absolutely hilarious. We are in a dark age, friends. I'll also laugh if Earl Tubb gets killed in a couple issues and we find out the story is really about Coach Boss We are talking about a modern, creator owned book...anything can happen. Seems a little early to even care about the Scalped 43 thing.
  16. Wow. This place is amazing sometimes I think I'd like to hear what Jason Aaron has to say about the correlation before I bought anything. I'm with jjenius on this one, but to each his own.
  17. I was just having this conversation with the wife. When the heck did that part at the end happen? Or is it happening now? So many questions.
  18. wtf happened in this issue?! Pulling my hair out I'm so damn confused.
  19. Agreed! Crazy issue. I'm digging all of this but I need more Death!
  20. Hope the preorder sketches don't take super long to ship
  21. I second that, Tank Comics on eBay rocks! Class act seller
