  1. In all fairness, the previews looked awesome and I did really enjoy the first issue. For what it's worth.
  2. EoW Thread Good point Authority, not sure, I'd be curious to hear others opinions. 9.6s tend to be the bologna of modern slabs for some reason.
  3. Maybe I'm the odd case here: I have a stack of #1s, and I'm loving the spike in price, but I don't think the book is very good You keep saying you have a stack of #1s and now we see raw prices hitting $20 plus and you're in the camp of this book not being good... Why exactly are you holding onto your 'stack' then if you think this is purely speculation driving this book? I don't recall ever saying speculation is a bad thing. I'm along for the ride like the rest of you, my comments have all been about WHY the book is suddenly hot...has nothing to do with when I choose to sell.

  5. My point was that my response was to your speculation comment, not to CBT's shilling conspiracy. I agree -- different subjects. The prices seen in the secondary market are due to supply and demand. People want it and there are not a lot for sale -- either in a store or on the internet. Speculation may play a part in that, but when all is said and done, if no one wants a product, the price does not go up. Reasons for wanting a product -- any product -- are varied and numerous. To say it is all speculation is ignorant. I completely understand there's demand for the book. But I have my doubts that the supply is spread out. By speculation I mean there are less people in possession and they possess more than average quantities, therefore making it easier to drive a price increase. I chimed in on this thread regarding the initial price spike, that I was skeptical it was solely driven by the quality of the book. Im still skeptical, especially when I see people hoarding stacks of additional prints. I think there's definitely a snow ball affect. And I do think there's an element of sellers buying copies to resell because of the snow ball affect. How much of that is going on is impossible to say obviously. I'm also swayed by situational bias, because I don't think the book is that great. Awesome art, rough dialogue. But I digress. Let's all wish it well and hopefully minimize the backhanded comments, because no one truly knows what's driving the price increases. We all have our opinions, but no one actually knows.
  6. no one has claimed any of the things you are posing counter arguments too... all the fuss was over whether a person is allowed to question if an auction might be tainted, some people feel that should be stopped at all costs, others favor free speech. What reasons they have for their positions....only they can say. Your point? I think the price hike is fueled by speculation. CBT has been talking about possible shilling. Different subjects.
  7. I do find it amusing all the hoarding talk yet no admittance that the inflated prices may be due to speculation Went to my LCS and was told that 1 guy bought all 4 copies of their #1 4th print...I'm far from convinced the recent heat is solely due to this being such a good read.I think people know the print runs are small so they are loading up. Again, just my opinion.
  8. It's not the "posts showing joy" that could hurt reputations, it's the persistent backhand comments...the attempt to make it look like you know something that the rest of us don't. Im glad the book is doing well, but it's definitely too early to conclude that sales are driven by how awesome it is vs speculation.
  9. if you are going to create a hypothetical, might as well replace the straw man with a tin man.... The point of shilling is to change the market, then you unload on to the people buying into the hype. Then afterwards, they ask, what happened, and hold on waiting for prices to come back.... You see, the hyping up to unload is often refered to as "PUMP and DUMP". Where shilling acts during the pump phase to create false confidence. The DUMP comes after... For someone who just likes the book, you seem to do a lot of passive aggressive potshots and justifying. Let me re-write your comment for you: if it were just the RRP that was rising in price, then some could probably yell shill and such...but every issue 1-4 is showing some kind of heat. I think the covers are helping to drive sales. Not to mention it's unique. I believe this book is currently selling for its true Fair Market Value. The fact that I own a bunch and am waiting for them to come back from CGC has no bearing on my opinion. The fact that all of the variants and covers are going up, tells me, this is the real deal. See how much nicer that is. To which I would reply, well, the bump in prices came after a couple very suspicious sales. Given how the market has been for the last 13 months, I would advise caution and patience, but continued strong sales is always a good thing. much happier!
  10. #19 Still in awe. Matt's a genius.
  11. Yeah, I'm not rushing my stack to cgc just yet, this seems too good to be true.
  12. its more of a curse than a blessing.... At least you're modest
  13. Admittedly, not my best piece, but I did this in roughly 45 minutes as a request. Eh. Kinda like the darker one better...(technology is amazing).
  14. well I'm with you! I'm still reading it but I find each issue gets worse. Can't get past the lingo not lining up with the setting
  15. And it was a great read, right? I kid I kid. I'm sorry, couldn't resist, carry on!
  16. Is it worth it to you? (If you mean CGC graded Blue Label, then yes...it's would be considered a good deal...right now.)
  17. With a book like this, any fans of the comic have their copy and there are no fans if the show yet. The only people buying books like that now are speculators and speculators are really gun shy about paying a premium for a book like this. The next best time to sell is just before the first episode airs, but I still think most people will wait to see if the show is any good before shelling out very much over cover. +1 Words of wisdom. I'm in the same boat with Sheltered sets. Prices are all over. Still keeping a set on eBay, you never know who will pull the trigger on a BIN, but I'm really just waiting till something formulates with the movie before I expect to see people buying sets at a premium.
  18. yeah you're probably right. Just cant resist responding the backhanded comments. Not sure why it's so hard to see that the current readership and the original price hike are not necessarily related
  19. Damn those speculators creating false demand!! No, not common. But I'm thankful for the additional printings, I picked some up to give away for people to read that I think would love this series. At my nearest LCS, you've got to be at the doors when they open to get an Image #1 First Print, a few local speculators usually buy them out (if they're not damaged in shipping) and the store doesn't care. Its still hilarious how some are using 2nd and 3rd printings as "proof" that the original (and quick) jump in eBay prices for this book are driven by readership People can still want to read a series that has experienced a price hike due to specualtion...in fact, you could argue that people may want to read it even more! (PS - Just got back from the LCS, huge stack of #1 reprints still there. I guess markets are different) (thumbs u
  20. congrats on your pick ups sir, how about a group shot?
  21. There's some on eBay... and for less than cover price too! Plus $2.75 for shipping. OH BURNNNNNED. I kid, I kid.
