  1. If you're a DC guy then any Batman Silver Age villain key. Batman 121, 155, 171, 181, 189. Great base for a beginners collection, lots of room to grow and will always be in demand.
  2. Any number of Fantastic Four Silver Age keys. Best bang for the buck is FF 67 (1st Warlock)
  3. Way better than the actual comic book!
  4. Will own one someday but not at these prices.
  5. It all looked great but it all comes down to Hela!!!! Best villain in a trailer ever. Completely bad . Will be looking to buy every Hela comic ever made.
  6. It's going to be one of those characters where you need to own both books 27 & 28.
  7. I can only imagine your reaction when you unwrapped both of those beauties! Awesome books. Congrats!
  8. This is a perfect example of collect what you like. I love FF 67 and always have. It has everything I want for one my favorite Marvel characters. Origin, cocoon and HIM all wrapped in one of the great iconic covers of the Silver Age AND still somewhat affordable. Everyone has made strong points but I know what I love and that works for me.
  9. The argument for Thor 165 just does not compare to other examples being used: 1. Hulk 180 & 181 2. Spiderman 299 & 300 3. X-Factor 5 & 6 4. Fantastic Four 48 & 49 There are quite a few different reasons. The biggest is the time difference between so called cameo and full appearance. Each of the above issues occurred within one month of each other from one issue to the next. Marvel meant to create anticipation so they teased the character. The two year gap between FF67 and Th165 shows Marvel had no desire to tease the character. They told the entire story across two issues. FF66 is the actual cameo or teaser to his full intro in FF67. Add that to the multiple panels of the cocoon, multiple panels of HIM, multiple panels of HIM talking in person, in cocoon and fading away into oblivion as well as the entire two comic storyline based on HIM's origin and creation and you have a lovely all time classic Kirby/Lee storyline in one neat two issue installment.
  10. Totally agree. Neal Adams has a beautiful realistic and unique style but Starlin had gorgeous artwork with the even better writing on top of that. I think Starlin gets less credit because he was not as prolific over time whereas Adams has been going strong in the industry consistently and is still a force.
  11. About time for this thread. Stalin was brilliant and the Marvel Cosmic Universe is his baby and genius. Yes, he did take ideas freely from Kirby's World but he expanded and took it in directions Kirby could not. In the process he improved Captain Marvel and Warlock and create the force that is Thanos. I am re-reading the entire Starlin Warlock and Cap Marvel run and it is awesome.
  12. Could not agree more. Starlin was writing stuff that was so beyond anyone else at the time that it boggles the mind. Smart, creative and trippy. Warlock was a fairly lame character that was going no where with his band of teenage friends and he gave the character depth and life. I am also a huge Frank Miller DD friend and they both did similar great things but Starlin created this outstanding cosmic universe as well. I am re-reading the entire Starlin Warlock & Cap Marvel run and still enjoying it.
  13. Have to agree. FF67 all the way. Beautiful full cover of him in iconic cocoon. Talking through the cocoon. Origin story. Full panel views of HIM. Appears two full years before Thor 165. Fans should try to own 165 & MP 1 but you must have FF67 in any Silver key collection.
  14. I saw him at a show in Houston in 2016. I should have pulled the trigger right there. He did sign my Swamp Thing #1 though.
  15. Cool! Love Bernie. Great guy. Hope he is feeling better. Would love to own a Swamp Thing sketch.
  16. Not a Creepy collector but had to check out this thread because I laugh at the title everytime I see it. I do like the artwork though...and the title...
  17. Baby Groot! Hot and expect it to get hotter as the movie nears. Groot 4: Cameo Groot 5: Full and Cover Guardians of the Galaxy 1 Scottie Young Variant.
  18. I have to watch that show. Everybody is raving about it. I didn't think it would do so well. Have to go digging for my NM 25 & 26.
  19. I love how those guys always bury the color touch note.
  20. Gorgeous book and yep those sigs....Wow could not be placed better!
  21. Smart move to get back in but anyone who sells before the first movie is probably walking away from the hobby or paying bills.
