  1. Too fishy! It's a great hard to find book. Agree with Jimbo, $40K maybe.
  2. Ah but the question is where are they now? Did they end up in personal collections across the country? Did they end up dog eared and beat stuffed in a closet? Or is there a massive hoard in Al Capones vault? I have heard stories of the of the massive quantities of Hulk 181 that were stacked in piles at comic shows. But those seem to all have found a home and the prices keep rising...
  3. I can't argue with this strategy. It just makes too much sense. I made the switch in mid to late 2000s when Marvel's Cinematic Universe took off and DC SA keys were dirt cheap in comparison. My problem was that I started selling them too soon when prices doubled instead of holding for a while longer. Yes. My Bat#121 has TRIPLED in price since I made the purchase. It's always difficult to time the peak of the market. Once I sell, I try not to look at market prices. I learned that lesson after selling my Walking Dead #1 at what I thought was close to the peak, only to see it double again. There still are deals to be had. Last spring I snagged a GD/VGish copy of #121 for $400 CDN at a local show, and convinced the collector who showed it to me to buy the FN #181 from the same seller for $150 CDN. I would have taken it if he didn't. I'm afraid the 121 deals are done and done. It's definitely not as common, very hard to find in high grade. I'm always on the lookout for that one and it does not pop up nearly as often. I was lucky to have found a super low grade copy a few years back and than lucked into a raw high grade copy a year or so after that one. Aggiez sell that one and prepare to say goodbye. It may not be fiscally possible to replace it in the PC down the road,
  4. Yep I left 359 off the list unintentionally but it belongs on there easy. 359 was quite affordable a few years but not so much anymore. I actually compare this to Action 252 and think this might be the best hold. I say 252 because a hero first appearance historically outperforms a villain and 252 has always been ahead of 242. So 357 should technically be ahead of 155, 171, 181, & 189. And it's a true first and not a silver first. A great current comic storyline, a good movie role or a great tv show would really push this in that direction.
  5. i find this hard to believe as i own all of them ! Count your blessings. And I don't think the Batman market will crash...even with you owning all the keys well at least I hope not...
  6. FTFY ! It's all debatable but I like all 4 in the series and it just gives me a reason to pick up another 181. You have to admit the covers on 178 & 180 are both pretty sweet.
  7. Let me tell you, I love this reprint. The colors on this one are great and where else can you kick back and read a IH 181 without worrying about the value decreasing.
  8. I don't think it's a variant. That orange color is unique and probably played a little havoc on the printing presses in terms of consistency. I have a few copies that are a beautiful, bright burnt orange and some that pop less. Personally, I do like the brighter colors though.
  9. It's the life cycle of movie or TV related over hyped books which are actually common in all grades across the board. And it's a life cycle that we have seen rinsed and repeated on a countless number of these types of books, without any notable exceptions at all. The real question is, why do you believe it will be any different for IM 55? I'm just going to quote this and throwing these numbers out there on 2/1/2017. The 90 day average on GPA for a: 9.8 is 6,001 9.6 is 2,711 9.4 is 1,837 9.2 is 1,381 Between those grades we're talking over five hundred books. I'm just posting this because in my opinion this book still has room to grow. The way marvel writes Thanos is amazing. I will read stuff just because Thanos is involved. Thanos Rising actually got me into reading some new books again. I figure he still has a big movie bump coming and yes the book will settle after that but that's why I listed the GPA data because after a good movie bump these prices may seem like a deal even after the dust settles. Only time will tell. Yep. Agree. You make me want to read the new Thanos material. This is now a grail book. The fact the first Moon Knight and Punisher are now selling for more with less going for them means this is going to shoot up further and pass both.
  10. That whole Warlock Strange Tales run has taken off in the last few years. ST 178, 179, 180 & 181 are getting harder to find in NM in bargains. You have to pay for the high grades. It all started with 180 and GOTG Gamora but each of them has something cool going on. 178 - The Magus 179- Pip 180- Gamora 181 - Well almost all of them... If and when Warlock is finally announced I would expect this to take off even higher and bring the Warlock 9-15 run along for the wild ride.
  11. I can't see them being comparable in scarcity or perceived value. Demand is clearly there but there are too many out there in comparison. Don't get me wrong, Spidey books are great but I believe AF 15 will have to settle for top lofty status atop the Silver Age. I think the prices are way too high right now but maybe that's because I don't have one and want one.
  12. Good find, looks like a bidding war/battle of ego behind that one, guy even used a stock photo. Or perhaps they've bought vf/nm from him before that arrived 9.6? I know he's a v.good seller, just don't recall that he's a big undergrader (he might be). Two very low feedback bidders bidding up a non-key, not in demand book sounds a little fishy to me. Not sure what the angle is but it ain't a good one. Book is worth about $5 and can be had for less.
  13. Revival Hoarder, I have always loved that lineup. You are the reason I had to change my collecting strategy on IM 55. There was no way I was going to be able to outdo that Wall of Excellence. One day I will post how I switched it up.
  14. First rule of comic club is nobody touches the high end comics but you : )
  15. Thanks bro! I see you're repping the Boogie Down! I am also from New York; I actually lived in the BX for 7 years! I lived in two different locations; E. 180th & Tremont (2 & 5 Train) and Castle Hill & Westchester Ave (6 train). Keep it LIVE! :-) -Professor Pecora Good to know. I can tell you are a NYer because you talk about the trains by your house. We always have to add that. No wonder Daredevil speaks to you. DD is from the hood. Hell's Kitchen back in the day was more like the Bronx than it is now
  16. This is a not so under the radar pick. Marvel Spotlight #6 Vol 2. First Star-Lord in comic books. I loved this one a few years back and touted this on the boards as a better pickup than Rocket Racoon. I got a little skewered on that pick but I kept on picking up copies on the cheap. MS #6 is a hard book to find in high grade and only two CGC 9.8s are available on Ebay and they are going for $600+. I always track the 9.8's and they don't pop up often. Low and medium grade copies are still affordable and undervalued but high grade not so much. I expect prices to rise as GOTG 2 comes closer and Star-Lord is expected to be a key figure in Avengers Infinity Parts 1 & 2.
  17. Three years ago a 9.6 was already a $2-3K book so getting it for $500 is quite the great deal. Last time that was in that price range was before the movie announcement. I expect this book to go higher and stay higher than most movie books for one reason.... ......we expect Thanos to be in two movies in back to back years. And those 2 movies are expected to be blockbusters. Add that to his two cameo roles and this is not a bad comic to own. I 100% agree with you on WBN #32. Love the Moon Knight character. But he is a 2nd rate Daredevil or 3rd rate Batman. At best I would expect him to be a guest on a Netlfix show and prices are way over the top. I would love to own a #32 but would never touch them at these prices. Would have to be a lucky pick in the wild.
  18. As a long time buyer and seldom time seller I empathize. I try to leave feedback in one shot about once a month. If they are the same they may leave it a month or more later. However, Kav, along the lines of the immortal Clemenza "Leave the gun, take the the cannolis then you must "Forget the feedback, take the money" It's more important to get paid for the books than get praise for the books.
  19. I'm just glad I picked up all the Silver and Bronze keys whenever I could.
  20. You know why though, correct? And have you read the story? I know about the "Last Jedi" title of the new movie and #49 but I don't remember the storyline. I will read it today. When in doubt, read! This huge price increase does not make alot of sense but it shows how hype can cause a massive shift. The only thing missing from the Star Wars book was hype and the upcoming movie per year schedule is sure going to deliver that. I am buying all Star Wars whenever they are reasonable.
  21. Have anyone else been tracking Star Wars keys? Some of these are really percolating. Folks usually know about the #1 but 2, 41, 42, 43, 68 & 107 are doing well. What I find most curious is what happened to issue #49 in the past week. It went from a common to a $35-50 book. I have always believed these were going to kick into a new stratosphere.
  22. Agree. I'm curious how much rarer ST110 (1963) is than a book like Thor 165 (1966). A CGC 8.0 of ST110 could have been had for $2,000 five years ago. Now it's an $8,000 book...a 300% increase. Take a $350 price tag for a Thor 165 two years ago, with a similar 300% increase, and you've got a $1,000+ book. It's now a ~$350 book and has been for a while now...certainly some room to grow. I remember picking up my first ST 110 and thinking the price was pretty low for such an important character. I considered myself lucky even when I purchased it. I have the same feeling when I pick up any Warlock key. I just happen to love FF 67 best. Great character, unlimited powers, and huge influence on the Marvel Universe. I wish I could address print run questions but will just have to check the census for now.
  23. Some of us can only dream of the Golden Age. I can afford 155 but this one well....one can dream i find this hard to believe as i own all of them +1 and here I thought that Batman 155 was just a cool dragon cover and this was the good one;)
