As a Premium Member, I should be able to access the art at this time. All I can see are thumbnails. No access to the actual item.
What's up with this? Is there some special portal I should have gone through to access the site as a premium member?
The comic art live > art for sale tabs are working fine for me for viewing the art

Well, definitely feels like a real con. Got up early to walk the floor to see aggressive pricing.

Just got a pretty cool page in the mail I wanted to share. Giant Size X-men 4 pg 1 by Rick Leonardi and Jimmy Palmiotti. I didnt even know that marvel continued the GS X-Men somewhere in the 2000s (I stopped new comics before that) until I saw this page on Jimmys website. I remember the Leonardi X-men issues from the 80s fondly so getting this page with some great action was a no brained!
Nice pick up. I lucked out and saw Jimmy’s tweet about new art and picked this up. Was debating some of those Leonardi X-men pages.

What about an LCS? Preferably with the owner involved?
I don’t collect a lot of new books anymore, but I’ve always liked this shop. Has a good mix of everything.

We’ve settled on the San Diego area - I figured there’s a good chance there are a few boardies from that area (😉) - if there is anyone with young kids that can talk about the SD neighborhoods, please shoot me a message - we’d love some info. Thanks!
Sorry. No kids. I can only recommend breweries.

They won't sell it for less than their purchase price, of course, but are hoping an offer will come in which is more than acceptable without taking the risk of posting a price. That, I consider greed.
I generally won't respond to "open to offers" even if it means missing out on something I like.
I’m not going to make assumptions of their motivations. Just seems counterintuitive to publicly buy a piece from a well known seller, at a price that leaves no meat on the bone, and relist it on the same site two weeks later.
-
I just don’t get this market sometimes. This page was put up on CAF about two weeks ago by a different seller for $13K if I’m remembering correctly. Now it’s for sale from the new owner for ‘taking offers’.

That's not my point at all. When art that is sold for 5 or 6 figures is transacted with cash, how does the recipient of said cash actually spend it when cash transactions (outside of buying more art) are becoming less and less an option?
Ahh, gotcha. Misunderstood a little. Still don’t see anything changing, partially because I haven’t noticed cash payments being less of an option. Maybe that’ll change a bit with covid reopenings, but I prefer to use cash more the older I get.

Ehh, generally I’d say no. A print is exactly that - a print / copy of an original art piece. Sometimes they’re limited, sometimes remarked, but they’re still copies.
But as always, buy what you like. Or can afford. A $150 print of Bernie Wrightson’s Frankenstein would probably make a lot of people happier than dropping a mil on the original.

I bought way more than I planned to last year, so was gonna try to take it easy this year. But since it looks like I’m not going to 5 of the 6 cons I planned on, I’m open to some quarantine buys. Just haven’t seen much I want.

Thanks for all the insight. Not my taste, but glad it will raise some solid funds, assuming the 0 feedback high bidder follows through.

He sold like 10 completed commissions to my local CB store at once. I am sure they were meant for someone else and he just sold them in bulk to the owner because he was in front of him with cash. That being said I bought 4 of the 10.
Yeah, I got a commission and picked up a pre done piece at a con a bit ago. The pre done one had somebody’s info on the back, so I always assumed it was a request that wasn’t picked up from another con. No telling tho with all these stories.

I’m gonna be happy with whatever money is raised, but come somebody explain the price to me on this one?
-
Well, Bill is the best. He’s offering remarks/inscriptions to the winners of his pieces in my auctions.
-
Since the world’s kinda a mess right now, figure I’d do my part to make it less so. 4 auctions up on eBay, 100% of proceeds to various charities. Free shipping worldwide.
IDW Mutants and Moon Knights... and Assassins... limited version with Kingpin sketch
IDW Artist Select Series Demon Bear watercolor by Sienkiewicz
Elektra sketch by Sienkiewicz
John Byrne IDW Artist Select Series book with Dr Doom sketch
thanks for looking!

Do you guys thinks that some people (eager bidder)
made a mistake, an believe this piece was created by Jim Lee?
Because this a very strong price for a Rafael sketch...Probably. He posted a pic on his Instagram, and there’re a ridiculous amount of comments complimenting Jim on it, even tho he clearly stated in the post it was Rafael’s. People don’t read.

Don’t laud me too much.
I’d never say never to breaking up a book. But getting something complete directly from an artist... there’s definitely a worth not quantifiable by dollar amount. And from one of my favorite artists on my favorite title...

Jealous... if you ever break that up keep me in mind !
Don’t see that happening. I was mainly interested in them because they were complete. I think Bill was happy I wanted to keep them all together, and he’s randomly found more prelims from the book and gotten up with me for that reason. It’s so rare to find any book complete, published or prelim, that I’d think it’d be a shame to break em up.

I’m generally not into prelims. But when I had the opportunity to buy the full prelims for a book last year (100+ pages) I took it. Probably paid more than I’d ever get back for them, but having a complete record of the process of how a book came together vs having a few of the published pages... I’m good with my choice.

That is pretty crazy... but I can tell you I saw and bought from Dan personally at NYCC last year and he was not, how can i put this nicely, in a good place/state of mind. Awesome story and ultimately you have a story of your favored characters no one else does and a alternate ending !
Gotta agree. Bought a few pages from Dan at NYCC last year as well, and it was painfully obvious he was not 100%. Totally understand why this bugged you, but I find it mildly hysterical and would be happy to have those in the collection along with the more accurate versions.

There’s really only one page I’m interested in at a price I like, but it’s from a seller that I purchased from months ago that can’t be bothered to remove the page I bought from him. So I’ll pass.
But I agree that I think this is all set up pretty well.
