  1. Yay!!! First time posting in this thread!!!

Won an auction for a Marvel Team-up #95 for $9.99 Can. I think the seller expected more for the book, so shipping was bumped to $62 can. shipping WITHIN canada. Asked multiple times for an updated shipping cost and invoice. Got back to me today (after a week) and told me ya, shipping was only $13, so make the payment and he'd send the book. Shipping still showing $62....

finally asked him to cancel, and within minutes it was done. weird.

    Anyway, zero feedback, lesson learned.

  2. I think having a limited edition is fine, in fact it ups the profile of a book, which then resurrects the recent and relevant interest in Michael Turner, keeping his name, art and memories alive. If the book was produced in masses, ending up in dollar bins, it sort of in part tarnishes his legacy seeing his books in the bargain bins. By making the books elusive and desirable, it creates a buzz and reminds folks of how great his artwork is/was and how well respected (as many correlate a value to the name) he is in the hobby.

Aspen did a good job servicing the fans by limiting the books, and I think a 1 per person policy is good, to avoid as best possible, the resellers who add that middle layer to the costs. It's an open market 'tho, with free trade alive and thriving.

I think what Aspen can do, is make limited or open ended prints of the limited edition variant comic book covers, so those fans who may love the image, can still have it, and in fact display it in a larger size format, with less to complain about.

As with anything visual like art, if you love the art, you need not own it to appreciate it, so simply right click your mouse to save the image and you can enjoy the aesthetics for free.

I've been doing this for a while. I have a gallery of my fav covers virgin art. Gonna print them off on nice paper and get some cheap frames and get them signed.

  3. You all actually missed me!?! I missed you too. Always know that if and when I disappear it only means one thing - WORK. Lots of work. Which is good!

So, I'm back for a bit. Here's some news:

    - The option/adaptation. We've moved on from our previous arrangements to something truly extraordinary. Both the producer and I have been hard at work to create something fairly unprecedented for Enormous. I can't offer details yet, but this is a BIG clue:

Mehdi and I have been starting up Season 3, which is entitled "PERMUTATIONS". Expect a convergence of storylines, some big reveals and some massive momentum. it will be a bit before we move on to release the next issue as we have TPB Vol2. (did you order it?) and the Field Guide with more Colossal to release between arcs.

Take a look at some covers for Season 3 in progress, first is a new cover dress for the next arc. Evolve or perish, right?

    tumblr_o9asbx6sZx1tuk6gvo1_1280.jpg

And NO ONE has seen this one yet since it's a WIP and reveals Ellen 2.0. She's definitely growing into her role as a leader and outside the story-- slowly becoming an action-hero in the mold of Sarah Connor and Ellen Ripley (see where she got her name?)

So, hope that brings you up to date. Wish I could spill more beans but I can't jeopardize all of our hard work and your support by blabbing. I'll be back!

Second pic is a must have!!!

....seriously.... when can i get one....

  4. Have any idea when the Spider-Man ghost rider set will be available? I had June 3?

Checked Amazon and toys r us....

It has a June 2016 release date. It may not show up on the shelves though until the very end of the month or the first week of July. It has already shown up on eBay though from overseas vendors so it is on the way.

    Lego Set 76058 for reference.

Ok, I figured it was just a matter of time. I just don't want to miss the window. first waves sell out fast.

  5. I agree with Kav. I don't consider myself an artist by any stretch, but I do know that the longer I work at it the better I get. Like anything else you stick with and have a passion for, you'll learn and grow by developing your own style and honing it so that a brush, pen, pencil or whatever medium you use becomes an extension of yourself. I don't believe a school/academy can teach you that. I feel very strongly that although their intentions may be good, they will teach you specific methods which may frustrate the hell out of you or it may really suit you and help you grow. However, keep in mind that the majority of historically famed artists were all self taught.

Lastly, your work is amazing and I would never have guessed you weren't already a professional artist.

Either way, Keep your dreams alive man. Life is really boring without them.

    All the best bro!

  6. I've been wanting to put together a high grad run in raw form for the Bolland Wonder Woman covers. After searching a handful of shops in Denver and Colorado Springs, and viewing this thread, I now realize what an up hill battle this will be...

Yeah, I love my Bolland run of WW, been sellin' off my dupes.

    vAlUM3.jpg

I love Bolland just as much as the next guy, but from the first day that cover came out... I really can't stand it.

Superman's mullet is off putting, but the shot of WW is amazing.

How does superman cut his hair?

  7. First, This thread is too quiet! so, here I am!

Second, I've seen a couple listings for Enormous books that say there's been a TV announcement. Did I miss something?

and C) Prices for Enormous #1A are very very high. Like around $400 mark. I don't have GPA so I'm going off of Ebay prices, but even MCS has a book up for $380. Just wondering what i'm missing.

And finally, Do you guys have any news on when/if you (Tim) and Mehdi might be doing the convention thing? I'd love to have my Enormous #1,2,3, and 4 signed. Don't know where though.... covers are too pretty...

  8. It seems like Campbell's work outside of Marvel sometimes gets overlooked.

Here is one of my favorites that isn't a Marvel cover

Don't think anyone here knows his other work..

    But will post mine later..

Oh, I know his other stuff! I will also post once I am able to (moving this month). I do not have any graded stuff, but I do have quite a few of his work.

I have all 4 covers for this set! DF Negative, Larrys comics red sketch, 1:100 sketch (signed by JSC) and this one on its way to CGC after a press!! so far, two 9.8 and 1 9.6. if this one gets 9.8 it will be my lifes mission to ditch the 9.6 for a 9.8!!!

  9. Images for the summer sets have officially been released...

There is also a new listing for a Dr Strange set... I had plans to modify / rebuild / repurpose an extra Lego #10218 (Pet Shop / Brownstone) into a Sanctum Sanctorum... but I will probably want to see what the official version looks like as I will probably find some useful parts in the official set.

I'll have to post a pic of my sets later. Forgot about this thread!

How are we feeling on the knock off Lego dudes? They look like the legit sets!

Depends on the maker of the bricks. I bought a few sets to see what the deal was.

The bricks "feel" cheap. There is definitely a difference. I noticed a slightly oily feel to many of them. I also noticed that they did not have the exact bonding / or grip to their own make of bricks let alone Lego. They also have a distinct smell. It is hard to describe. It is not an offensive odor but there is a definitely something there.

Now the minifigures are a different story. There seem to be two types of mini figures. The ones that are from many of those sets are of similar types as the bricks themselves.

However, I have begun to see some high quality versions out there lately. The figures are printed with new deco's and are sealed making the design as durable as a standard lego minifigure if not more durable actually. You can definitely tell the difference when you have them in hand between the high quality knock offs and the cheaply made ones.

    Lego is definitley th

I was more interested in the minififures. I've seen a bunch on eBay as sets of figures and there are a lot compared to what the brand name offers, but quality is an obvious factor. Any sellers/dealers you guys know who have high quality minis?

Imgur user doomhandle is a lawyer that has spent the past year building an impressive 70 lbs Imperial Star Destroyer Tyrant. The massive Destroyer is made up an estimated 25,000 pieces and is over 56 inches long. It comes apart to reveal 3 different levels as well as a hangar bay, which holds two TIE Interceptors, a Sentinel-class shuttle, and four probe droids.
