  1. My point was they have no idea what you “actually” paid for said books. Especially since a raw book can go from a buck at a garage sale to 100 at a flea or con. Neither of which would come with a receipt most likely
  2. In the case of buying books at a convention and bringing home you would not have much problem asking the vendor for a receipt made out for less than actual value. And yes, that is illegal but it’s still done, nothing I’ve done but nevertheless. It’s easier with collectibles because there is no precise value you can assign to any one item. I believe you’re allowed 700 duty free in a 48 hr period, I usually go with both my kids so none of this would affect me at all.
  3. With the weak CDN dollar it’s a better time to sell your books than buy for us Canadians
  4. The US seller is not making any more money whether the buyer is domestic or Canadian. If the buyer is from Canada he’s paying more now than 2010’s parity. He’s not paying more US dollars but more CDN, which is the money we use everyday, therefore more. I find it odd that this point is being argued
  5. I asked a guy who goes to Chicago every year what he tells the customs guys when he’s coming home. He said he changes the price stickers on the books and hopes they don’t have a guide
  6. I get my US packages shipped to a border parcel service. They hold packages for up to a year, so when I make a trip to swinging Fargo ND I usually have a stack of cool books to pick up.
  7. Any ruling on this as I took 9 and 11 in PM?
  8. I think Kirby had some good ideas with the Fourth World stuff but the actual execution was pure goofiness
  9. I watched the first epi of Jessica Jones and never connected the 2 until I read your post. The USA is the only book I sold out of the lot, it will help me pay for round 2. Socko!
  10. Basically he’s in his 70’s and has been collecting for quite a while. Bought a lot of good stuff in the early 2000’s The usual plan most of us have, sell when you’re retired. Turns out he has no interest in selling online or shows so wants to go the easier route. Selling is like work, and he’s done working! I’m happy to help him out
  11. I setup at a local Horror con last month, pretty dismal sales. An old guy came up and asked if I buy comics, which I do! Got these off him with more to come
  12. Fool and his money... paying top dollar for a slabbed book is no way to invest in comics, if investing is the goal.
  13. Check out TMNT 1 on GPA has counterfeits listed with a 9.8 1 that sold for $1000!!? I think Cry for Dawn 1 has a lot of counterfeit copies as well or maybe it’s Crow I’m thinking of. CGC slabbing them just legitimizes the effort. Bonkers
  14. For some screwed up reason CGC grades counterfeit books so should have no problem with these
  15. Do EC romance stories always end in ironic tragedy?
  16. I’ve sold on Comic Auctions Canada, it’s a closed group so only members see posts. Also closed groups are the only way to get away with raffles since only members see the posts
  17. Not sure what a Jasso is. He won the Avengers books on Instagram, I’m not into IG so not sure how those work, same principle I’d imagine.
