  1. When I was a kid in the 70's you could count on a few stores in my town throwing out a box of coverless comics every month. There were usually multiple copies of each book. This included girlie mags. So we'd go dumpster diving and have a whole box of comics to read. I wouldn't save them though, they had no value to me and they never stayed in the collection. They had their full cover removed not half like you see in the 60's
  2. I had no idea these romance giant books were sought after. Checked eBay while in the antique store and scooped them up. They were in the store for close to a year without selling, he let me have them for half price.
  3. I remember geeking out when I first saw it on the spinner rack as a kid then I saw the Frank Robbins art. Poo poo
  4. The S21 is pretty decent, about a fine. The other is most likely a good with some water damage (it was the lowest of the bunch)
  5. Picked up a nice stack of 30 DC romance all nicer shape (mostly) - antique store buck a piece.
  6. Unless you want to put the time and effort into selling your books you won't get top dollar. So many people want FMV for their books without the work. If you want full Overstreet for commons, it takes years to sell if you don't go to eBay. Even on eBay commons will not sell at close to Overstreet. Sell your keys, get top dollar and sell runs and sets at a discount.
  7. I'm no fan of qualified grades, very deceiving to uneducated collectors. Watched the video and he says he would never give a book with a popped staple more than a 4.5. I wonder if he had a minty looking key book with a popped staple and a typical 4.5 same key if he would price them the same? Seriously doubt it
  8. The run collectors of the 80's to early 2000's have already had their revenge. They had all the hot books no one cared about 15 years ago
  9. I know many Collector's who prefer unpressed books, more so older collectors but they're out there. What percentage of books have been pressed? Most likely not even 5% Slabbed books, much higher
  10. The deals are out there but sometimes you almost have to be obsessed about finding them. Checking online every couple hours and being johnny on the spot. Going garage sailing all weekend, basically neglecting your family and friends. There are so many pickers out there, not jus comic flippers. Any normal picker will buy up comics and sometimes pay too much for drek.
  11. eBay's feedback system is deceptive to say the least. You can have 500 negative feedbacks but if they are older than 12 months they do not count on your percentage. You're essentially back to being a 100% positive seller.
  12. Agreed. There's gotta be a couple TV/Movie guys in there too
  13. I didn't know CGC verified cigs at Calgary? Or even had a booth
  14. Methinks you might have rose coloured glasses. That's great though, I sure hope there's someone who wants my books 15-20 years from now.
  15. Except now it's baby boomers who are retiring, the biggest portion of society. There's some big collections coming up
  16. I've always felt it's bad practice to show all your multi copies at once. Makes the book look common - put one on your wall (or auction) and people will be more likely to snap it up in case it's scooped up by someone else.
  17. I don't think collections are drying up, just being held onto. There's more awareness with all the movie hype. I'm pretty sure in about 10+ years time there will be a glut of collections popping up for sale, I'm 50 and plan to sell around retirement time, and there are a ton of guys my age with sweet collections. You can't take it to your grave! It's possible now might be the best time to sell, movies will dry up along with the hype, comics may well be as popular as pulps 20 years from now.
  18. What's up with Adam Hughes Facebook page 31 people banned from the page in the past 24 hours. Whahappened?
