  1. Hmm how about “People reposting others content for likes make me FURIOUS!” ....too meta?
  2. You know I never saw that movie so I don’t get the reference. My 4 year old did though and I’m sure this would have totally worked for her.
  3. Nothing better than the ruling class talking down to the serfs...put em in their place, m’lord!
  4. Mark Schultz or Dave Stevens on Iron Man...just to see the armor gleam and the women steam.
  5. He worked at the highest level producing main stream books for 6 decades. He wasn’t being kept around for nostalgia purposes, he was just a really great artist who could pencil and ink in an ever evolving style for 50 years. People from their mid 60s to late teens have seen and liked a book that came out on the shelves in their youth, that he either pencilled or inked ....think about that... Think of it like baseball. He basically was a .301 hitter who hit 25 HR with 90 runs and RBI’s a year. Pretty good right? Now imagine that same stat line projected out year after year for 25 years? That would be first ballot hall of fame unanimous vote time. That was who he was. He was the David Bowie of Comic artists, The Gordie Howe (maybe not the heights but the longevity and overall consistent great performance). Always working, always changing, always staying relevant, always connecting with the next generation of fans. No one is even in the discussion when it comes to longevity and overall high standard of quality. He could draw as well as anyone, he was equally skilled and pencilling and inking, he worked on merit alone twice as long as nearly anyone else not named Kirby, and he did it quickly with a sense of professionalism. To me, that’s top 5.
  6. I’ve always said, Sal is a top 5 comic artist of all time. Flawless passionate work for 6 decades, always staying relevant always giving his best (which was elite). When you are one of the best, and you stay their longer than anyone in history, you gain fans. Two of his threw down and wanted to lay claim to some of his best work. Nothing shocking about that.
  7. In a year only 5 posts in talk-happy CGCF about a comic book tied fantasy show created by comic royalty...I really tried to like this show, but man it got one-note and predictable.
  8. So we have evolved from “this page price is nuts” to “I want even more than that for mine now” and general agreement this was a fair price. This might be a collapsing market, death and gloom around the corner as the bottom falls out and all that...but damn no one seems to be treating their art like they better flush it anytime soon.
  9. I actually was in the running on this for a while. I’d have gladly paid 5k for this page. It’s got a team shot with professor x, wolverine claws out a plenty, very well drawn, great secondary characters. The other two pages shown aren’t even close to the same level. anyone have a page of this quality with similar characteristics from Cockrum, especially fully signed outside of art? If so hit me up I’m a buyer around 5.
  10. Helmsman set a course for 1984, maximum warp...engage!
  11. Again though, this ain’t stamps. Stamps never had a dominance over our culture the way comic book heroes have. Besides If we are basing this on the interested collector base dying off, we might be targeting 50-60 years.
  12. I was afraid his production would fall off greatly post HRD, and hit wise it has...But his HR numbers are still on pace for 50+. Plus all the goody stats like Hard contact and ops are still rock solid. I really only see Tatis being a threat for RoY. Soroka seems to get a lot of love too but I keep thinking his run support is insane. Also when you look at his HR over 110MPH I think he is still 1st.
  13. Maybe...but I’ve been buying art since 1987...it’s the only hobby/interest that’s followed me from my youth to goody quasi adult hood. Since I came into the hobby when there was little money to be made, and stayed to the point the speculators have turned it into a borderline farce...im probably gonna be one of the ones holding on til the end getting excited for 100 dollar Keith pollard Bronze Age FF pages
  14. Yeah I’m pretty sure we won’t get there because of that, but maybe some half way point. The truth of the matter is this is all one of a kind material associated with widely known material that interests thousands of people who even in the darkest days (Assuming we don’t fall to “The Road” level collapse) would have some disposable income. This ain’t stamps. But maybe a 40-50 percent softening could occur, who knows. It would be a real exciting chance if just a price reduction to get some great pieces as folks sell off.
  15. !!!! But I must save all my money for Brien Taylor! Can’t be diverting those funds. I joke but I bought dozens of Pete Alonso 2016 Bowman Chrome auto cards last year after seeing him in the Minor League All Star Game last year. His raw base auto Bowman’s were going off at 20 dollars a pop. I even bought the full color spectrum in psa 10 and BGS 9.5. Been selling some off but here was my set at its height this April.
  16. You know what’s sad. I keep finding myself thinking that if the comic art market collapsing and prices drop 60-70% like predicted. I’d go on a huge buying spree and pick up art I either sold off years ago or never had and always wanted.
  17. Touch base with them. You might be surprised by the answer that you are provided. Do tell.
  18. Who is the “Special Girl” in this? Is it 7 of 9 or someone new? Trailers not loading on this 4G where I’m at.
  19. I think this phase will tell. I’d they can sell us on this set and continue the upward trend you are probably right.
  20. Well Thor has been turned to a bit of a clown, Banner is smart hulk so he is much less interesting. That’s the main 4, all gone from what they were. Maybe we do get carried by Falcon and Wasp like you said. Maybe we will always but whatever happy funcorp commands us to buy til the end of time. Guess we find out.
  21. You know there seems to be a belief that anything Disney commands us to love , we will love. I’m as corporate and group think obedient as the next 21st century man, but at some point we have to consider maybe Disney and Marvel won’t always be able to command us to buy their products. It’s a silly thought but after seeing fans turn on Star Wars (just a little) maybe the never ending “buy anything Marvel” train might end someday? The strength of MCU is based on selling us stories that all DIRECTLY tie to the Avengers their decades old household name brand characters (and we had this argument already showing yeah they were culturally known commodities before the first Iron Man movie). The Avengers as a team has been smashed and it’s core has been dissembled/changed completely. Does the post core phase sell as well? Time will tell.
