  1. Not sure if this has been posted before, but thoughts on this book? Its got decent PQ, no chipping, clean spine, bright colors, and its decently well centered. Anyone want to take the over/under at 50k? http://www.comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?back=%2Fauctions%2Fpreview.asp%3Fcode%3D2017may%26pg%3D2%23Item_1181401&id=1181401
  2. Trying to avoid the infighting, but I will say this. I really do hate WHATEVER it is you wanna call that brownish toning on the right hand side.
  3. Arrival dates do not affect the grade I wasnt making down for it either. OP just said had no writing, was only pointing out it did have it.
  4. 5.0 with press/clean. 4.5 without. Maybe 5.5 if it comes out stronger than though but would assume 5.0. Also it does have writing on it, 7/1 is written above title just hard to read.
  5. That looks like a 1.0 to me. I would imagine a 1.0 would sell for 275-350 bucks. At that point its worth it.
  6. Meh, I see the argument for it. I just think of the term as tied to the atomic energy culture of post ww2 America. To me it seems tied to that techy optimistic kitsch of the era specifically. When it comes to horror books or Crime it feels off. Silver, Gold, Copper, Bronze. I get those. It indicates relative importance as well as age as well. When you name a new Era I want to keep it consitent with other naming conventions so thats another reason I bail on Atomic Age. If you have to have a term for that post WW2 pre Cold War hysteria, Atomic is probably best I just feel its better to bend to gold or silver.
  7. Besides, a "grail" can never truly be had. It can only be pursued. Cornerstone is much better. I also like "bedrock" when talking about themes you collect. Lot of building terms lol.
  8. Loaded this to my CAF. Thanks for the input, guys! http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=1392823&GSub=145535
  9. Couple of pick ups this week 1. Star Wars 69 Double Page splash by Gene day. http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=1392822&GSub=145534 2. The earlier Mentioned Jim Mooney title splash from the 1980 Marvel Special Edition: Spider-man and the Hulk Tribune Comic. http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=1392823&GSub=145535
  10. To be fair you cant really call this Golden Age. I've always wondered what you call these 'tween-er books. I don't like atomic age because, well, its theme specific. I think on some level for these 'tween books you have to judge it based on its side. If its dimensions are closer to that of the average Golden Age or Silver Age, that's where you go with it.
  11. I also live in Central Ohio. The Ohio Valley is low and flat, it floods a LOT. You have at least one sump right?
  12. If you ever needed proof of that, read everything that happened after you wrote that LOL.
  13. Any chance that this might in some small part be due to a possible side effect from a not so perfect pressing job? see I dont think so, I think thats just a production defect. Could be wrong, but pretty sure you see that level of misplacement of the cover on raw books too.
  14. 8.0 Has average PQ for grade (OW), and it has an issue with being off center/bad cover wrap where part of the cover wraps to the back. This is about as average an 8.0 you can probably see on those alone....having said that with the goofy ascent pattern we have seen, id be surprised if it didn't got 135-140k.
  15. Depends on how you define "Limited". To me, top 10% is "Limited". You have a print run of 9 normal covers and one variant, thats pretty limited. Just perspective I guess.
  16. haha, I think i was looking at the wrong edition. Ok, this is the title splash. just found a copy....yay....
  17. But, as i said in the message. I looked at a copy of that book on youtube (someone doing a review) and I dont see this page. Now they could be skipping pages, true. But I didnt see this page so I was trying to find out if its the page in question. it would be odd no doubt to make the page, letter, correct it, stat it, indicia it, and never use it...but i just am not sure this is from that book. Anyone have a copy by chance?
  18. Need Some Help: Where was this page from? Hey all, i picked up a collection today and in it was this splash page. I assumed it from the Hulk versus spiderman insert from 1980 (cause it basically is saying it is). however there is a video version of the comic and I dont see this page anywhere when i watch it. . Anyone know where this might have been used? On the back i found Jim Mooney signed it, so he at least inked it. Likely Pencilled and Inked by him. Any thoughts greatly appreciated.
  19. It sort of is, Golden age isnt 1949 really, but Satan first appeared in DC comics in Kid Eternity 15, the one with the awesome skull cover. All of it is sorta odd regardless, the Lucifer we see on TV i think is Sandman 3 or 4.
  20. You were nice enough to let me see it when you first landed it. Such a nice page, and the condition was awesome to boot (very important to me lol). Nice!
  21. Picked up the end page from Worlds Finest 300, when Batman and Superman reconcile. 80s baby...check out if so inclined http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=1391849&GSub=145535
  22. Any update on this? Ive been wondering.
  23. I think these are all valid points, I just find it odd. My fear is this will somehow spread to the other books im looking to buy. I dont do as much with graded as with art but Ive dedicated this year to getting my top 10 books. Im hoping these price wars dont translate to other books.
