  1. Who knows what the actual politics within the studio's actually is. Taika might be tight with a few exec's, and loathed by others. As a director he has to navigate the entire Disney power dynamic's as a solo player. There will be layers to this we're not privy to. A mate plays touch rugby with him back in NZ.. I would ask if I thought it was a quick conversation that wouldn't annoy the hell out of him
  2. This is the category of he may of thought this, but no way he actually said it. Unless, he's happy to burn down some mighty bridges. He's a clumsy director (sometimes), but he isn't a fool.
  3. Ancient sci-fi, or past civilisations long since gone, and reduced to oral histories past along? There is something of an order to sci-fi that we recognise as "genuine" when we see it, or read it. The plausibility of something fantastical quite quickly feels 'right' more often than not. We don't all the have the bewilderment of a pigmy tribe living on the banks of the Amazon. Things in sci-fi resonate with us, again and again. Why is that?
  4. For my money, Asimov, and Frank Herbert are more aligned to what we understand as science Fiction. Mary came at it with a strong horror element firstly. The sci-fi component was almost just the setting in which the story unfolded. But the sci-fi setting was entirely integral to her story, and it's success with audiences.
  5. Smart friends. A friend sent the link's on the lectures from Hillside College as great way to consume 30 hours of my life in fulfilling self improvement. I got through the first hour, then bailed on it
  6. She was hanging out with Lord Byron at the time, and their circle of aristocrat friends were holidaying in Europe, challenging each other to come up with unique and innovative stories. She was in the right place, with the right people around her, and the masterpiece was born.
  7. I think they even reserve that for exceptional books. It must be owners saying "no slab thank you". Comiclink take raw books all the time, to be slabbed, and listed.
  8. Welcome back Well, the names have all changed Since you hung around But those dreams have remained And they've turned around ....
  9. Viking burials. A lot of us have earmarked those books for inclusion in our funeral pyre, as we transcend into Valhalla.
  10. Dam, thats a statement right there! Super key, old label, ped copy... serious kudos.
  11. Dune is perennial... before and after these movies have come and gone.
  12. Who's fate came first, Jeff Loveless, or Jonathan Majors? They seemed linked within the studio, one pulled on the other, and vice versa.
  13. The Union will need to jump on this now, and police it from the get go. I don't see the studio's adhering, without testing the boundaries of the points negotiated. It's too easy for them to push any questions to their legal team, and actors will need to strike again as their only real power leverage.
  14. Within 1-102, even the under-pursued books, are pursued! I'm still very surprised how low the high grade populations are on the majority of the issues all the way through the first 100.
  15. You'd be surprised how utterly unpredictable the future really is. Basing predictions on whats in front of today, even 5 years from now would be difficult to predict what will me the major trends in the entertainment industry.
  16. I can't quite make it out, is that you @Parabellum driving past?
  17. This book is M.I.A at Comiconnect. I've been fully refunded, and given priority at the same price, to buy the book as and when they manage to locate it. The book is on its way to me. Shout out to Rob for tracking it down
  18. That feels odd. The finale had a lot of teaser built into it, with Loki's ascendancy to 'time lord'.
  19. I need to back track some, reach over, and grab a plate of humble pie. The last episode was fantastic, both Owen and Tom were outstanding. The storyline, and their character developments really peaked, I loved it.
