  1. That's a nice piece ! I wish he would always sign his name the way he did on the left there. Very cool! -J.
  2. I wasn't referring to you. I tried to edit my post to make that a little clearer after the fact, to no avail I suppose. But if I had to put an estimate on the Saga 1 third print, I would put it in the 1000-1500 range, possibly closer to the 1000 than the 1500. In any event, not really trying to stir the pot. Just musing on a Wednesday morning.... -J.
  3. Thanks! I'm familiar with these sites that have repeated the 500 print run number. Here is the original Diamond solicit for the book: https://summits.diamondcomics.com/Home/1/1/54/787?articleID=118463 It's listed near the bottom as the "Saga 1 Third Printing". No mention of print quantities there and whatever copies that were generated were sent out directly "one per attendee" after the fact..... With hundreds of copies of the book on the census after such a relatively short period of time (relative to its alleged print run) I've often wondered why no one has ever really questioned this 500 print run, yet will argue so vociferously when certain other books' print numbers are discussed. -J.
  4. The biggest one I can think of is Batman 608RRP, where Hush appears for the first time on that cover, but Tommy Elliot does not appear in the story until 609, and not as "Hush" until 619 IIRC. -J.
  5. Any idea where this print run figure originates from ? -J.
  6. Considering 4, 9.8's have come up in the last 90 days (as opposed to the one or two or a year before this little price spike), that's pretty awesome. I suspect the SS copy will break $5k.... -J.
  7. I think fans of the book are just sick of seeing threads about it getting locked. I didn't even see the listing until after it was marked sold. I didn't think it was legit either originally, since the BIN price was half of fair market value, or less for even a beat up raw copy. I would be upset too if that sale didn't complete. I'm sorry to hear that. -J.
  8. Either you can't tell when someone is obviously trolling, or you're just trolling "NoMan" right back. My instincts tell me it's the latter. -J.
  9. Yeah other than Dardevil season 1, these Netflix shows haven't really been all that great, regardless of all the hype they try to generate for them. -J.
  10. I'm glad you got the grade you wanted. Your copy presents very well for the grade. As for the so-called "PQ"on the label, seriously, who cares. Well... You know my thoughts on that point already. -J.
  11. Top dollar. Really nice looking copy there. -J.
  12. Four copies in four months would constitute a "small flood" for this book. -J.
  13. One more chance. http://www.ebay.com/itm/CGC-Batman-608-Retailer-Incentive-Edition-9-8-White-Pages-/222460041430?hash=item33cba6d8d6:g:nxcAAOSwsW9Y4FjG -J
  14. It's fantastic that you held onto them. Seemed to me that 1 in 20 sounded like a pretty darn reasonable extrapolation for pulling a 9.8 in the wild now. Considering that's what the census shows after 17 years+ of heavy, heavy submissions and it's one of the most slabbed books of all time, if not THE most. The book will be 30 years old next year, even 1 out of 20 might look like a pipe dream going forward. -J.
  15. Just looking at the percentage of 9.8's of all copies on the census.... -J.
  16. Considering 9.8's in the wild look to be about 1 in 20, you still did well. -J.
  17. Since when does teasing a "celebrity" who's posing on Twitter, and will never read this thread constitute "hate"? Now, granted, people certainly are justified in feeling disgusted that he would up the print numbers on his "limited" variants after the fact, but that's another story.... -J.
  18. Not necessarily ground breaking info, but Tec 880, and the ASM 569 variant both hit fresh GPA highs within the last week. -J.
  19. Very cool line up of sigs on those! -J.
  20. No, actually he has it right. The alleged "PQ" on the label had absolutely nothing to do with what that book sold for. It was all based on the "eye appeal". And that's where I see things going in this slab-happy environment. In fact, that's where I posit it already is now, more so than not. -J.
