  1. Yes that's what exactly what I intended to say. Looks like GPA has updated the sale result on their site as well and parsed it out from the other sales due to the damage to the slab. -J.
  2. Does it get better after the 1st few? I have no desire to go on but I really liked Daredevil. I can honestly tell you that it's one of those shows where you only continue watching it because you are thinking "this just has to get better". Unfortunately, it does not. Character motivations are questionable and irrational and there is no payoff at the end of any of it. There just isn't enough material to sustain a 13 episode show. Four episodes would have probably made for some good TV though as long as the show runner was different. Too much of it just didn't make any sense, and that really is just bad writing. Not a feather in Marvel's cap, but like I said before, the canvas is small so it shouldn't hurt the brand in the long run. -J.
  3. With that kind of damage to the slab you're taking the chance CGC doesn't re-grade it. That's why cracked slabs usually sell for less and GPA separates them from the regular sales. -J.
  4. A boardie bought that. Looks like he's going (b)all(s) out on the attempted flip. -J.
  5. Only 1 bidder on the auction. Wonder if people weren't bidding due to the holidays approaching ? Severely cracked slab. Should be parsed out from GPA's regular listings for the book in grade. I'll email them. -J.
  6. Another copy up for sale: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Uncanny-X-Men-510-SDCC-Ultra-Rare-SKETCH-Variant-CGC-9-6-J-Scott-Campbell-/111830730038?hash=item1a09a18536:g:1XAAAOSw7FRWUgXS -J.
  7. I don't believe this book is now suddenly a modern "key". Movies and TV show appearances don't turn first appearance books into overnight "keys". Books of note, perhaps but not "keys". That term is bandied about far too casually. -J.
  8. My take on what I have seen: Positives: 1) Good cinematography and atmosphere; 2) Well cast (but with a caveat, see below); 3) Good intentions by Marvel of trying to bring a niche, fringe character to the masses and continuing to dabble in the darker side of their catalogue; 4) Reasonably engaging first episode Negatives: 1) Not enough direct interaction with JJ and bad guy; 2) Bad CGI and boring/poorly choreographed fight scenes; 3) Storyline artificially elongated with superfluous characters, repetitious sequences and conversations between characters, and filler episodes that do not advance the storyline (i.e.. too much bad writing); 4) Ritter's performance is flat, droll, and monotone, and the voiceover is a lazy, unnecessary, and overused device on the show All and all, this is no Daredevil and I would be surprised if a second season of this was picked up, as the material was already thin and stretched to the point of tedium in far too many places. Two out of five stars for me. -J.
  9. I was directly responding to this which references restored copies.... Yes went haven't seen much of any blue labels in any grade. James G -J.
  10. Sweet book Jerome! I'm glad you were able to score that copy. Props on helping me set up my new sig line as well. -J. I remember a time when I was the only one who had a sigline like that, now I'm not so special.. You were my inspiration. -J.

  12. There's a front cover only for sale on comic link and two restored copies on comic connect right now (a 0.5 and a 2.5). There's also a restored CBCS slab in the "for sale" section of comic link. Not sure how any of those will tell us what the current "PPP" is for a low grade blue label (which have been conspiculously absent from the auction houses all year), unless of course Chicago boy's initial inquiry was pertaining to restored copies (of which I did not get the sense). -J.
  13. The above statement is wrong. And misleading Lets keep it simple. My statements are supported by the 15 or so closed ebay transactions over the last 30 days which are available for anyone to see. I'm sorry if that is not consistent with your own internal narrative regarding the book. Whether or not the book has "peaked" or "plateaued" has yet to be seen. But given the distribution method of the series, and the fact that even Daredevil backed off of its inflated highs once the show was released, it is highly likely the same will happen with this book as the hype fades and the market starts looking for the next "thing". -J. Dont change the subject and turn it to speculation now sir. You SAID "It has peaked", but now youre saying "Its yet to be seen". Until you admit that you have openly stated something which is false I have nothing to speculate with you about. I said it "looks to have peaked weeks ago". And considering that the most recent sale price is the same sale price from a month ago, I stand by my assertion. Whether or not that represents a "plateau", i.e. if it can sustain that price point post-hype is what remains to be seen. I don't need to play games of semantics, I say what I mean and I mean what I say. But you are right, there is nothing further to be discussed on the topic. -J. Im not playing a game of semantics. You are. Its simple. The book HAS peaked 2 days ago FACT The book IS CURRENTLY selling for 300-350. Not weeks ago. FACT Its not about whos wrong or whos right.. Well.. It kinda is... So....basically we are saying the same thing. -J.

  15. When the show or movie is released, that's when the decline happens. For well-known characters already, that's true. But for obscure ones that are only finally getting a place in the spotlight, it can drop slightly after release, but still stays a lot higher than the initial pre-announcement value. But this book is a little different. At the risk of it being slightly a political point, Jessica Jones is a different animal altogether from even GotG. They both might be obscure characters that get a big boost, but the potential for her to grow into a bit of a "feminist icon" type character is great with this show, to the point where it might settle down a little but will probably keep picking up steam a little bit over the next few years, assuming it's successful enough for a 2nd season (which I believe it will be) I'm not sure the traits of this character are necessarily the ingredients for a "mainstream pop cultural icon". And her lack of costuming won't make her popular among the cosplay set. The original books were niche, and the series looks to be as well. The overall material is fairly thin even for 13 episodes, I am hard pressed to see where they would take this character for a "season 2" without access to the Daily Bugle and Spider-man. I can foresee a crossover appearance in the Luke Cage series, but that's about it. I give Marvel credit for even attempting to pluck this character from obscurity and try something with her. The book got a nice little price bump because of the hype. But these things are transitional and there really is only so much that can be done with this character IMO. As noted by Miraclemet, the method of distribution puts a kind of shelf life on the "buzz" for the show and the character, and that will likely affect interest in the book, though I doubt it will fall back to its pre-hype price levels. -J.

  17. From someone who knows nothing about something . . . Including the one from today for $325 ? -J. Look at this and please tell me you dont see a steady climb from October to November With the highest sale being Yesterday Thanks. Good information. The most recent sale from Nov. 19 is the same price as another sale from Oct. 24- $325.00. In that time the book has fluctuated within a very narrow range. Notable within that same time frame is an unsold listing from Nov. 16 which was an auction that did not make the opening bid of $299.00. So back to my original observation, the book appears to have peaked weeks ago in a rather narrow $300-$350 range (which is still a respectable bump, percentage wise, from the $250-$280 it was going for prior to the trailer). -J.

  20. From completed sales the book looks to have peaked weeks ago in the $300-$350 range. -J.
  21. 1.8 crm/ow $7011 pedigree last night as well That's a new GPA high. -J.
  22. Solid results for all the copies actually. 7.0, second highest result in two years (first highest also has "Cr/Ow" on the label so that was a non-factor); 6.0 went very strong, but looks under graded and is most likely a CPR candidate; 4.0 would be a GPA high but for a couple outlier sales in the $17k range for the grade earlier this year. -J.
