  1. That price puts it on par with the wolverine 1 Campbell. Considering there are less than half as many of this book as that one in 9.8, and this was the first one sold publicly in years, this price, while by no means "cheap", seems like a pretty good deal, all things considered. -J.
  2. $3k. -J. $3051. Nailed it! (Yes I just quoted myself ) -J.
  3. While it's nice for the artwork on a rare variant to remain exclusive to that book, oftentimes reprints can increase the legend and mystique of the original even more. -J.
  4. Wow that sure flew under the radar. "Only" at $1225 too. -J.
  5. Outstanding pair you have there. -J.
  6. I say "no" because it's only one sale and it is starting to look like an outlier. -J. What about the 4.5 that Bob just sold (likely for very close to his asking price) which was mentioned at 14.5k? Does Bob report to GPA? Either way something seems a little batty about this price. Ists almost double what was paid for another 4.0 on c link barely a year ago. -J. No he doesn't, but I don't think its overly batty...the book was trending right around 3k per point back in June so the book is slowly moving up. Its a nice looking 4.0 with wait for it....wait for it....OW/W pages I highly doubt anyone's paying double last year's price because of the so-called "PQ" on the label. Also the 2.5 is not performing comparably. The 4.0 price just seems high to me. In outlier territory. I want to believe and I'm obviously a fan of the character and the book. I'm just not believing this price for some reason. It seems off. And I don't think someone is thinking CPR either because it has a pretty beat up spine. -J. Since you think it's an outlier, I'll pay you a little above last year's price for your 4.0 copy I would except evidently I wouldn't ever be able to afford another copy. -J. Only solution is to downgrade to a lower graded copy with the sale. Problem fixed and you have a copy I'm like Oakman. I shall be buried with these things. -J.

As for whether or not the price for the 4.0 is an anomaly, the answer may come in what the 2.5 ultimately hammers at. -J.

  11. Also the introduction and first appearance of Dante (which takes the name of Inferno in issue 2) – Soule introduces a lot of characters, and it’s all done very well. (thumbs u Good catch on that. I think the "other company" lists both first appearances on the labels already. CGC needs to get with it. -J.
  12. FYI, Inhuman #1 is the first appearance of Lash, soon to be on the SHIELD show. It's not yet noted on the CGC label however. I will probably send in my copies with a label update request. Looks like the one to own in that run is the Campbell variant cover with Medusa on it. -J.
  13. I will never neither confirm nor deny this accusation. -J.
  14. So what book features her first full appearance? TV Guide Point being she's an adaptation from a cartoon, not an original comic book creation. Like the Transformers. -J. By this train of logic, any and all Walt Disney,Peanuts, most Four Color Comics and any comic book that derived after a TV appearance should be deemed worthless and insignificant. +1 Sorry Jay but the masses are not as purist as you may be. Transformers 1 sells fairly well, Star Wars 1 is on fire, BA12 is as liquid as they come right now, Scooby Doo 1 always sells well. I'm confident by now most people know where these books came from and it does not phase them because they collect comics. The girl at one of my LCS' once said the same thing when I brought up the same point to her. I personally find the Alex Ross graphic novel to be the more relevant book. -J.
  15. The technical release date is not relevant. It is still a book that was adapted from a (forthcoming) cartoon and toy line. -J.

  17. Am I the only one who doesn't see anything remotely close to an epic crash on this book? Ever. Same here I see alot of corrections etc in the future . But this book for some reason has the look and feel of a winner. The character is so well liked and popular and thats before the movies.Easily the top Modern book. I said it before its the Modern hulk 181 or copper ASM 300 / NM 98. Super key . Except all of those books feature actual first (full) appearances. -J.
  18. The big knock on this book is that it does not actually feature any character's first appearance. It is therefore more akin to a Transformers 1 than it is a NM 98 in terms of significance and relevance. It is for this reason that the book is massively over valued (not even getting into the routine shilling that goes on with it). -J.
  19. Actually I "only" collect keys and first appearances. And yes, nearly 350 copies in 9.8 alone is a boat load of 9.8's for any comic. Sorry. -J. One of the few boardies who should be ignored. I'll assume most people can see the constant flaws in his propaganda. ....says the guy who spends his days doing this.... http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=8816169&fpart=6630 -J.

  21. There are actually 338, 9.8 copies on the census now, and yes, that is a ton. -J.
