  1. I happily paid a "premium" for a 6.0 with a Gil Kane sig 5 years ago. -J.
  2. Those are both two gorgeous looking comics ! -J.
  3. Not to be overlooked Hulk 1 has set a few GPA highs in the last couple of days (and weeks): 2.5 SS @ $10k on Ebay 5.5 @ $25k on Ebay 6.0 @ $27.5k on CC 7.5 @ $69k on CC -J.
  4. Sweet! I actually like the trade with the old school Marvel banner better. -J.
  5. Word on the street is that it suffers from SCS and wouldn't even grade a 9.6 now. (But who knows if there is any truth to that rumour or not.) -J.
  6. I think the consensus is that somebody went a little crazy with photoshop on those scans. Still a nice looking book though. But a 3.5 on HA with "LT/OW" on the label went off $119.5k earlier this year. Then the 7.5 on CC went low followed by the 6.5 on Ebay with restoration notes. Those two sales looked to be a break in the momentum of the book, but as I said this 5.5 was a bit of a bounce back. -J.
  7. That is a record GPA high for a blue label 9.8 by about $5k (prior GPA high is also from this year). -J.
  8. It looked to me like the Tec 36 and 37 sold for right about what one might expect them to based on other recent sales of those books in surrounding grades reported on GPA. I agree that tape is a fact of life in a lot of GA, and doesnt seem to usually make a big difference on the big books. -J.
  9. The weirdly low 7.5 sale on comiccoonect for $257k a couple months ago, followed by the (nearly) un-restored 6.5 on Ebay definitely didn't help anything. That 7.5 should have hit $300k easy. This 5.5 sale puts expectations back on track a bit. -J.
  10. Holy Canoli! The 9.8 on comiclink just closed at $32.5k. This book has officially moved to the "inferno" category. -J.
  11. The 5.5 in the CC auction went for $158k- a noticeable improvement over what the re-constituted 6.5 blue label went for on Ebay in late June ($175k). Perhaps, as someone mentioned earlier, the restoration notes on that 6.5 negatively impacted it a bit after all. -J.
  12. The 6.0 on comiclink just closed at $8,300. Daaaaaaaaaamn. -J.
  13. Here's my final take on it- I'm not aware of Overstreet (or CGC) yet designating ANY copper age books as "classic cover" just yet. However if/when they start, ASM 300 will certainly be one of the first to be deemed so by the same overwhelming consensus that considers it to be already. -J.

  15. Looks like he immediately re-sold it for $9,900. https://offer.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBidsLogin&_trksid=p3750801.m370.h1613&rc=nt&item=192638828683&LH_BIN=1&_pgn=1&item_hash4=72d25a3f&ul_ref=http%3A%2F%2Frover.ebay.com%2Frover%2F1%2F711-53200-19255-0%2F1%3Fff3%3D4%26campid%3D5335849815%26toolid%3D10034%26customid%3DeBay-US_go-url_-76d1aaf11675--www.watchcount.com-ilu.ihist.192638828683.-_wcc%26mpre%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Foffer.ebay.co.uk%252Fws%252FeBayISAPI.dll%253FViewBidsLogin%2526item%253D192638828683%2526item_hash4%253D72d25a3f%2526LH_Complete%253D1%2526LH_BIN%253D1%2526_pgn%253D1%2526rc%253Dnt%2526_trksid%253Dp3750801.m370.h1613%26srcrot%3D711-53200-19255-0%26rvr_id%3D1648227375797%26rvr_ts%3D833a24341650acc6c6a331c3fffe4f30&LH_Complete=1&ViewBidsLogin= -J.
  16. All you need to know from RMA's lecture is that Miracle Man 15 is an undisputed "classic cover" and ASM 300 is not. Oh wait.. #1 Here: https://www.google.com/amp/s/sprucestreetcomics.wordpress.com/2017/06/27/the-top-25-greatest-amazing-spider-man-covers-of-all-time/amp/ #6 Here (referred to as a classic in introduction): http://www.nerdgoblin.com/comic-book-rewind-top-10-spider-man-covers/ #23 Here (referred to as a classic in introduction): http://www.comicsbackissues.com/best-spider-man-covers/ #11 Here: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cbr.com/the-15-most-iconic-spider-man-covers/amp/ Heritage Auctions seems to think it's a classic and "iconic" cover as well: https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/covers/todd-mcfarlane-amazing-spider-man-300-cover-original-art-marvel-1988-/a/7099-92276.s One thing of note about all of these lists- they do not all contain the identical books in the identical order. Go figure. Now, just for fun let's have a look at some synonyms for "iconic": https://www.thesaurus.com/browse/iconic Two words included on there: "classical" and "historic", the latter which RMA used to describe the cover to ASM 300 in his first post on the matter, incidentally. Can't wait for this movie! -J.
  17. This movie will make more than aquaman on less than half the budget. -J.
  18. They look great ! Great grades too. Congrats ! -J.
