  1. Oh spare me, despite your obvious attempt to conflate issues (as you so often do), you've never once proven anything. And the reason why you never have is becaus A) it is impossible to either quantify or prove, and B) It is in fact demonstrably false and easily disproven, as I have time and again with countless links that handily dispute your patently false and absurd premise. -J.
  2. I'd say so.... https://www.ebay.com/itm/-/142895361403?_trksid=p2349624.m2548.l10137&nordt=true&rt=nc&redirect=mobile -J.
  3. Speaking of high raw sales for modern variants..... A raw ASM 678 VenoMJ just sold for $2600+. https://www.ebay.com/itm/-/183327390005?_trksid=p2349624.m2548.l10137&nordt=true&rt=nc&redirect=mobile -J.
  4. I don't know, here's a couple I found after a quick Google search: https://www.complex.com/pop-culture/2011/08/the-top-15-fantastic-four-covers-of-all-time/fantastic-four-1?utm_source=google&utm_campaign=referral_google_amp&utm_medium=organic https://www.google.com/amp/s/evilgeeks.com/2014/02/23/top-ten-fantastic-four-covers-kirby-and-lee-era/amp/ -J.
  5. People buy 48 because of the first appearance of SS. That's why it sells for what it does. The Galactus appearance, is a distant second consideration from both a substantive and importance point of view. I don't know of many "Galactus collectors" but I know A TON of SS collectors and fans. FF 49 sells for the (discounted) amount that it does because it is a cheap alternative to 48. No matter how a few people try to spin it, it is still the second appearance of the SS, "Part 2" of the trilogy, and the second appearance of Galactus (a second tier villain, not even close to the same league of Wolverine, and thus not even worth having the "cameo/first full appearance" debate about anyway). -J.
  6. Most copies of this book in that grade have "white pages" on the label. And I also think that most people know that the "PQ" CGC decides to put on the label is easily the most random and arbitrary thing that CGC does when they are grading a book. -J.
  7. Do you seriously believe that a meager $600 difference in price needs to be explained when one copy ended on a Thursday afternoon during most people's work hours and the other ended on a Saturday? And in either case you do realize that the prices were within about 5% of each other, which would be within typical and expected price variances and fluctuations even on a day to day basis for a book with this kind of trading volume? Or maybe you can explain the anomaly of this 9.6 copy with "white pages" on the label selling for the same amount over two months ago as the one with "ow/w" on heritage last month? https://www.ebay.com/itm/The-Incredible-Hulk-181-CGC-9-6-WHITE-1st-Wolverine-Nov-1974-Marvel/263718226054?epid=85340044&hash=item3d66d4c886%3Ag%3AmZMAAOSwkKBbCx4H&_udlo=10000&_sop=12&_sadis=15&_udhi=1%2C000%2C000&_ex_kw=&_mPrRngCbx=1&_samihi=&_stpos=91604&_samilow=&_sargn=-1%26saslc%3D1&_salic=1&_in_kw=1&_dmd=1&_nkw=Incredible+hulk+181&_sacat=0&LH_Complete=1&rt=nc&LH_Sold=1&_ipg=200&redirect=mobile You're really just putting me on though, right lou? Lol -J.
  8. Actually, FF 49's value is from its proximity to FF 48 just as Hulk 180's value is derived entirely from the fumes of Hulk 181. If you want to know which book people really want and which one people are getting as the spillover, consolation prize in situations like these, all you need to do is look at which book exploded in price first. (And FWIW, the cover to 48 sits on many prominent "Top All Time FF Covers" lists, and at the very top of most of those lists. I have yet to see 49 on any of those lists and certainly nowhere near the top). -J.
  9. GPA has now scrubbed it (spawn 185 sketch 9.6 SS) from its records. -J.
  10. It's been a good week in the Dell'otto collection! I found these at an LCS, (mistakenly?) placed in the regular back issue run box for $7 apiece. Considering that they have had a mini-spike and are going for between $20-$35 a pop now with the upcoming "Spider-verse" movie, it was a no-brainer to grab them all, even the duplicate #13 they had. I've always liked this set but never got around to picking one up. Dell'otto did some really nice work on these, nearly all of the Spider-people in the "Spider-verse" movie are featured, including a cool depiction of Spider-noir on #9, probably my favorite of the set (second favourite is the creepy #14). There's also a couple of first appearances of characters appearing in the movie in this run. This is definitely the best LCS score I've had in awhile. -J.
  11. That frame is obnoxiously huge and I freakin love it. -J.
  12. I can't get behind this. The high grade copies are usually the first and most often to be submitted. And with well over 10,000 graded copies now, there's no reason to believe that however many copies are left out there, that the uber high grade ones (9.4-9.8) represent anything more (and more likely less) than the ~8% that is reflected on the census. -J.
  13. ASM 667 sold for a $8k in a 9.6 nine months ago. Of course any modern comic selling for $1400 raw is phenomenal and was unthinkable even 3 years ago. The only reason I suggested that the raw copy sale of the spawn 185 for $1400 would possibly drop it a notch was because I only raised the 185 up a notch on the last update based on that same raw copy "selling" for $3k+ before it was re-listed and sold again for the much lesser amount. -J.
  14. Actually there are five graded sales I have pulled from and three raw sales. You think $1400 for that raw spawn 185 sale was good? It was all right. The current top 5 books have all had sales of raw copies in excess of $2k, and all of them had condition issues, and all sold for what they did because they rarely come up for sale raw. A beat up raw copy of the 667 sold for $2500 three years ago. -J.
  15. One 9.8 that was followed by a 9.6 which came after two other 9.6 sales from over two years ago that at the time were more than what the other books were selling for in a 9.8. And I don't see the point of discussing the fake Spawn sale. -J.
  16. No. It will take more than one sale, and without bidding activity like that to be #1, at least on this list (which I take great pains to keep as clean and tight as possible). In fact, based on the sale result of $1400 of the raw copy that happened after that 9.6 copy, I would probably even move it down a notch on the list. -J.
  17. Welp this pretty much guarantees a PG 13 rating. Definitely not what would be my preference for this character though my only consolation is there have been quite a few PG 13 movies that have pushed the limits of that rating. I suppose this also means we will have to wait for the DVD release to get the "hard R unrated cut" that we were initially promised for the theaters. -J.
  18. Nearly 20 years of slab submissions (7.0% 9.8 for 301 and 6.2% for 300) easily overwhelms whatever seasonal and anecdotal reports you might get one way or another and/or historical fluctuations in CGC grading tendencies at those top, top grading levels. -J.
  19. Your feeling is likely correct. Of the ~16,800 copies of 300 submitted, 6.2% have come back 9.8. Of the ~1780 copies of 301 submitted, 7.0% have come back 9.8. @I like pie Not really implying anything just observing. -J.
  20. Interesting observation of a timeline of events here: May 3- You post your WTB request for this book offering $1000 May 4- A copy sells for $900 ($100+ less than the high for the year of $1016 that happened on April 22.) May 12- Another copy sells for $896. May 18- Book suddenly and randomly doubles in value with a sale of $1710. -J.
