  1. That's silly. I would much rather buy 10 NM copies of ASM 361 than something less than 5 months old . Not even talking to variant here Pffft, Coppers are old, it's all about Moderns!
  2. Just to go a bit farther on this one, last sale of a 9.8 broke $100.00. This may be a slow burner that ends up being great in the long run. EDIT: I am speaking of the regular cover. The variants are all already over $100 per for a 9.8 I believe. $100 for a graded 9.8 when raws are selling for $50+ seems like a steal to me. I guess the market has decided this is the key modern for Ms.Marvel/Captain Marvel and not Avenging Spider-man 9? You're thinking of a different Ms Marvel. Actually he's got two characters in there. Ms. Marvel (Kahn) and Captain Marvel (Danvers). The original post was in relation to Kahn, not Danvers.

  4. Would think that Doctor Strange 169 would be the book to go for instead of Doctor Strange 1. Looks like it can still be had raw in mid-grade for close to what DS 1 is selling for. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Doctor-Strange-169-1968-VG-FN-/391014688791?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item5b0a4aa817 All over the place: http://www.ebay.com/sch/Comics-/63/i.html?_from=R40|R40&_nkw=doctor+strange+169&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1&rt=nc There's this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Doctor-Strange-169-Marvel-Comics-June-1968-Good-/371228687027?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item566ef43ab3 Then this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/JERRY-WEIST-ESTATE-DOCTOR-STRANGE-169-1-Marvel-1968-NM-condition-NO-RES-/351261864453?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item51c8d6b205
  5. The Dr. Strange #1 is missing the Marvel Value Stamp… It looks like it actually cooled down a bit: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=dr+strange+1&LH_Complete=1&_from=R40&LH_Sold=1&_osacat=12590&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR4.TRC3.A0.H0.X%22dr+strange+1%22&_nkw=%22dr+strange+1%22&_sacat=12590 High grade raw were going for $80-100 for a while, now it looks more like $50-80
  6. A lot more potential there with established monsters. Though if Marvel gets to that point I think they are wiping the barrel pretty clean. You think? "monsters" haven't been the in-thing for a while I will agree, ever since zombies came around. But I think the characters themselves are definitely popular among a niche crowd, much like cosmic stuff.
  7. Did not know she was in the comics. She doesn't look anything like the one in the show in this book, but in the New 52 version they obviously modeled here after the show actor. And that's important, why? Um, there is only a demand because of the TV show. faster friends said that they didn't realize she was in the comics.
  8. I would think 81 would be better as well because it starts a Harley story line. That's Vol. 2, kimik is referring to Vol. 3 which are where the Hughes covers are. http://dc.wikia.com/wiki/Catwoman_Vol_3_81
  9. Same here. Not much on Champions. How about Legion of Monsters?
  10. I have never understood why other ah covers frm that series arent in demand. i would think that some of the later issues have much lower print runs that 51 and covers that are at least as good. The others are creeping up. I absolutely love cover #70 over #51... http://www.ebay.com/itm/CATWOMAN-70-Adam-Hughes-Cover-DC-Comics-High-Grade-1st-Print-Near-Mint-NM-/371225103556?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item566ebd8cc4 No way that's a $25 book. 76 is the best cover anyway http://dc.wikia.com/wiki/Catwoman_Vol_3_76

  12. Since you listed both ASM #300 and #301 I thought I'd bring this up: I was at a customer's house yesterday as he wants to submit about 50 Moderns to CGC. He's submitting 2 nice 300s and a 301. My jaw dropped when I checked GPA and saw what ASM 301 was going for in CGC 9.8. It's almost bringing the same amount as #300! ASM #300 does bring a lot more in 9.6 though. I was just shocked to see what #301 sold for in 9.8. How many are in the census though? Apparently it's very tough to get a 9.8. I believe there is a thread about it.
  13. That's about the average price for most variants nowadays. When the regular edition goes for 30 plus raw like EOSV 2 then I will be impressed. I think it will eventually since its appearance is in the core title that helps it as well. I like this book much more then EOSV longer term. I got both for the long term. The lull in prices are here. Spider Gwen regular cover is the highest it's ever been.
  14. The Walkman got hot when the movie came out, which was August.
  15. Hmm, not sure...really? Well, nothing is 100% of course. However, why should Doctor Strange 1 and Black Panther 1 get hot if not for the fact that they are # 1 issues? We're seeing the same thing with Inhumans 1. None of these are first appearances (not even close) and yet they are in high demand right now. Nobody seems to want Black Goliath # 1. However, if he's put in a movie then BOING! BG 1 isn't a first appearance either. However, it's a # 1 and would blow up if a movie came into play. When people pony up BIG bucks for 2nd appearances (think Rocket Raccoon and Black Adam) nothing surprises me anymore. You answered your own question.
  16. So here is Sandman #67: Cover date Feb '95 Indica says March '95 Rear has solicitations for Jan '95, so I would suspect that's when it actually came out. It also has an ad. for Absolute Vertigo which we know had a Preacher preview but it came out after the actual Preacher Preview.
  17. It actually reprints his first appearance so I'm surprised it's not more popular. A reprint should not count as a separate appearance though. Been popular for a while.
  18. I wonder if some just see it as a less expensive way to get a highly sought after classic cover. I buy this series to read, and based on past performance of horror reprint books didn't expect they'd ever be worth what I'd paid. If it goes any higher I'll be tempted to sell. Bingo in general to all books. Market is hot and thus reprints of big keys are hot.
  19. None of the books you mentioned had anything other than average print runs. That's why they are so expensive, while Spiderman #1, for example, is not. I'm going to bite: Is there something special about Spider-Man and X-Men #1??
