Or they think that putting money towards the first appearance of the character in a book from the bronze age with a Neal Adams cover is a better "investment" than the first appearance of a successor in a book from the modern age where the character appears for a grand total of six issues. I would agree with that. The movie character cover is pretty bad. It could also be people who have wanted the book finally pulling the trigger before it gets out of control.

I don't think it was years as the facts and illusions set has a date of 1992 on it. The vhs comic set must have packaged after the August SDCC though because that's where the footage is from but I have no idea when the mini comic was published. It's something that definitely warrants further research for Spawn fans. Mini-Comic measuring 4x7.5 inches and published by Gladstone. It is released as part of the promotional VHS at the August 1992 San Diego Comic Convention, namely "Todd McFarlane's Comic Book 'Facts & Illusions'" and "Todd McFarlane's Lotus".
